Mexico turns to drones to reseed burned forests

Authorities in western Mexico's Michoacan state are using drones to drop seeds and reforest hundreds of hectares destroyed by wildfires. The state, slightly larger than Costa Rica, is among the country's hardest-hit by forest fires, along with Mexico City and the State of Mexico. In 2024 alone, 1.6 million hectares burned nationwide, according to the National Forestry Commission (Conafor).
