Ruby Newman Ritz-Carlton H. Orchestra-Because I Worship You

Ruby Newman led various bands from the 1920s to the mid-1940s, and was Boston's favorite society band in the 1930s, where he enjoyed a long run at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel. The band had no trumpet section, substituting strings instead. Ruby frequently featured himself on violin solos. In 1936, Ruby and the band showed up at New York's Rainbow Grill and stayed a short while before heading back to Massachusetts where he eventually became a very wealthy man. His band was a very musical and pleasant outfit, recording for RCA Victor and Decca, and even played at several 'White House' functions during WWII. In 1943 he led an orchestra behind Danny O'Neil on CBS. This wonderful record was made in 1932. The uncredited vocal is by The Funnyboners. This singing trio (Dave Grant, Gordon Graham, and Bunny Coughlin) starred on a self-titled radio series in 1932. They often spoofed contemporary songs, singers, and bandleaders on their shows.
