00:00National rains have thrown Mumbai out of gear with train services between
00:04Shatpati Shivaji Maharaj terminus and Thane as well as on the harbour line was suspended
00:10until further notice. The IMD has issued a red alert forecasting extremely heavy rainfall
00:17forcing schools, colleges and government offices to remain shut. Flooding has been reported in
00:24several areas including Andheri, Vadala and Bhayakala leaving roads waterlogged and traffic
00:31paralysed. Over 150 mm of rainfall was recorded this morning alone swelling the Mithi river
00:38and prompting evacuation of hundreds of low-lying areas. NDRF and army teams are on the ground
00:46across Maharashtra where six people have already died in past 24 hours. Five people remain missing

01:11orange alert for Wednesday and yellow alert for Thursday. According to BMC commissioner, several
01:20parts of Mumbai has witnessed more than 300 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours. So due to heavy rainfall,
01:27several parts of Mumbai have seen water logging. If we talk about the railway services from Mumbai
01:37local then central railway services got suspended from Thane to CST but western railway from Churchgate
01:47Churchgate to Virar has not seen any kind of disruption. After on yesterday, today also BMC announced
01:58holiday for schools and colleges and advised companies to allow employees to work from home seeing the IMD
02:07alert and the heavy rainfall, continuous rainfall and there will be no ease till Thursday because
02:14the orange alert is there and the yellow alert is there for Thursday. With a few low-lying areas,
02:22we have seen an evacuation also. In Kurla, around more than 400 people got evacuated because the rising
02:30water levels in Mithi river. So the government is also keeping watch. A few units of NDRF has been
02:39also being deployed at the various low-lying areas to help evacuating people. So till Thursday,
02:47Mumbai Karp will see heavy rainfall.
