00:00Goa says it is launching a revolutionary healthcare policy that will bring down the cost of cancer
00:04treatment in the state by up to 75%.
00:07That's Goa's Health Minister Vishwajit Rane.
00:13In an exclusive interview with Mo, he explained the concept of confidential pricing that his
00:17government is launching.
00:19Rane is already very excited about its potential.
00:29Basically, how this will play out is, when cancer patients buy the drugs, it will cause
00:33them 75-80% less because of the state acquiring it for discounted or special rates negotiated
00:38with pharma companies.
00:44Goa spends hundreds of crores annually on medicines.
00:49By slashing prices, the state says it can stretch its budget further while ensuring patients
00:53in public hospitals get access to cutting-edge drugs.
00:57On the people of the Goa, we are spending something like 350 to 400 crore plus every year.
01:02And now with confidentiality pricing, what we will do is we will be able to have quality
01:06medicines, better medicines and better treatment protocols.
