00:00Mathieu is a regular at Puckelpop, a Belgian music festival.
00:10It all began in 2017 when one of his friends posted a message on social networks
00:15in which he shared their wish to attend the festival in a wheelchair.
00:19That's how he became acquainted with the Flemish agency Inter,
00:22which works to make festivals accessible to all.
00:25Since then, he has returned almost every summer with a companion.
00:29In particular, he can enjoy the concerts from an elevated platform accessible via a ramp.
00:34Personally, I prefer to be on elevated platforms because I feel more reassured.
00:43Otherwise, I don't see anything.
00:45And when there are things that happen in the crowd,
00:49I would be too scared to make me jump.
00:53The festival has parking spaces and a priority entrance
00:56reserved for people with reduced mobility.
00:59People with special needs also have access to a campsite with adapted showers and sanitary facilities.
01:05According to Inter, this year, more than 130 festival-goers stayed at that campsite,
01:10which is run by some 40 volunteers, and more than 400 people requested special facilities.
01:16There is a refrigerator for your medicine.
01:19You have more space around your tent so you can actually get out.
01:23Sometimes, otherwise, people just put their tent right in front of your entrance,
01:29and then it gets dodgy.
01:32So, yeah, it makes it a bit more agreeable for us.
01:41And for those with hearing aids, a tool was developed that allows them to listen to the music directly into their devices.
01:48We have the hearing aids, it's called the hearing loop, and we have it for the main stage and the marquee.
01:56It's a system that they can put the hearing aids at the T-stand,
02:01and then they can hear the music directly in their hearing aid instead of all the noises coming together in their hearing aid.
02:09Festival accessibility in Belgium has improved in recent years,
02:13but some festival-goers believe there's still room for improvement.
02:16They could do better, of course, depends which festival.
02:19I think if the Inter organization is at a festival, you will be helped very well.
02:24But if they're not going to be there, it's not always too good, let's say like that.
02:29So, there are a few festivals that are not too accessible.
02:33This year, Inter is working with roughly 60 festivals to make music accessible to all.
02:43developers are reconcilerно.
02:44So that's all the attended.
