00:00Teddy, because we lost a cat earlier this year called Teddy, so we've christened this little tortoise, Teddy, to remind us of those happy days.
00:11Well, Teddy was a really amazing cat, Maine Coon, and he was like one in a million, and he's really unique.
00:18But with turtles and the conservation, we don't want one turtle to be one in a million.
00:23We want people to realize that all these turtles need to be saved as species, and there's so many things that people can do to help save them.
00:32So, in other words, Teddy's unique to us, but we want all the turtles to be Teddy's in the world.
00:39The sad thing is, there's so many people in the world now, you know.
00:42When I was young, there was no need for conservation, because there was lots of space for the animals and the...
00:48What do you call these? A turtle is a what? What is he? A crustacean?
00:55The Tusk Turtle Trial includes 17 life-sized turtle sculptures, dotted in iconic locations around central London.
01:04The sculptures are supposed to invite passerbys to pause, reflect and engage with urgent marine conservation issues,
01:14and are positioned in some of London's most recognizable locations, including Covent Garden, Leicester Square, and Piccadilly Circus.
01:26There's even a turtle at the top of the Shard.
01:30The Tusk Trust, which is running the event, is a British charity, which aims to protect a number of different species in Africa,
01:41including the African elephant, African rhinoceros, and African lion.
01:47The turtle trial will continue until the 12th of September.
01:53So, I did it with Stephen Bartlett. We had a long discussion over what it was going to look like.
01:59But the idea is that it goes from deep blue sea to deep blue sky, everything in between, just to show that everything is connected.
02:08And things that we do, the way we behave, the way we get involved, it has an impact on every creature on Earth.
02:15Well, two reasons that people should be interested, or will be interested, it's a fun thing to do.
02:20There's 17 turtles around big iconic spots in London, so it's a fantastic thing just to spend the day wandering around looking at the turtles.
