00:00Welcome to Miami Mutual Bank.
00:30Frank, how may I help you?
00:31My name is Frank Taylor. I'm a co-pilot for Pan Am.
00:34I'd like to cash this check here, and then I'd like to take you out for a steak dinner.
00:51And then we feed the checks into the maker machine,
00:53which is a special ink to encode the account numbers on the bottom of the checks.
00:56Hmm. And where are these numbers?
01:01They're, um, right here.
01:03Right there?
01:04You see.
01:08They're called routing numbers.
01:10So where do the checks get routed, too?
01:13You know, I don't exactly know. Nobody ever asked me that before.
01:17Our next item up for bid is also from the Jersey Central Bank foreclosure.
01:23This is a Micker encoder, a machine used to encode bank checks.
01:26Do I have an opening bid?
01:28Our unknown subject is a paper hanger who started working on the East Coast.
01:31In the last few weeks, this unsub has developed a new form of check fraud,
01:34which I'm calling the float.
01:36What he's doing is he's opening checking accounts at various banks,
01:39and then changing the Micker Inc. routing numbers at the bottom of those checks.
