00:00As summer graduations have come to an end, there was one student this year who not only
00:04finished with a degree, but the chance to be in the Guinness World Book of Records.
00:09Her name is Vera Cree and she's just graduated from Middlesex University with a first class
00:15degree in information systems, but she's only 14.
00:20It's about technology, business and human behaviour all combined.
00:26So it just helps with the practical application of IT in the real world and business settings.
00:31Vera says that she's always had a passion for computer science and learning.
00:35And while she says she didn't feel different from others at school, just a bit more focused
00:39than her peers, her parents say that they knew she was different from a young age.
00:44How old was she when we were in Spain, it was like 3 or 4, and she learned how to speak Spanish
00:50so fluently.
00:51She was speaking to one of the ladies that was helping us and literally having full-on
00:55conversation, going back and forth, at that age, and I thought, wow.
00:59I said, she's at that age and she's learning this, and I was like, there's something coming.
01:05Vera's sisters have also been doing very well in their studies, hoping to become doctors
01:09and psychiatrists in the future.
01:11Vera herself, who drew a lot of inspiration from her grandfather, hopes to continue his IT
01:16consultancy business in the future.
01:18My grandpa, he was the greatest programmer that I know.
01:21He was one of the first pioneers to bring computers to Africa.
01:25He gave me my first introduction to computer science and it just sparked my curiosity and
01:30my passion.
01:31I started learning it.
01:32I loved it.
01:33I just felt like it aligned with God's purpose for my life.
01:36So I think it was passion, legacy and purpose.
01:39As Vera is too young to get a job, she's now working towards gaining a PhD as she eagerly
01:44sets out plans for her future.
01:46Right now, I'm working on a thesis.
01:49It's about artificial intelligence solutions for caregivers with children on the spectrum.
01:54So I want to finish that and use that to get my PhD.
01:58I'm also considering a master's in advanced programming.
02:02As Vera continues to challenge herself and dedicate her time to her studies, drawing inspiration
02:07from those around her, she's clearly a bright young woman with a future that looks even brighter.
