00:00I mean, you're coming off the biggest win of your career, you're on a hot streak, was it eight wins in a row?

00:05I mean, not many people can say that. I think that's the second highest winning streak in the UFC right now.

00:11You know, so how do you feel about being matched against a guy who's coming over from a different organisation?

00:16You know, he hasn't fought in the UFC yet. Do you think, you know, some people might say you deserve a bit better than that.

00:21But also, like you're saying there, when the opportunity comes, you can't turn it down, really.

00:25Yeah, there's also, it's perspective, it's based on perspective, like everything is.

00:32And you can look at it from the angle of, you've had three wins over top 15 fighters.

00:41You should have waited for somebody that's higher rank than you because you deserve it and whatnot and whatnot.

00:45But I think from the other angle, he's a top fighter and he's well recognised.

00:52It's not like I'm fighting a nobody. He's well recognised. He's touted to be the next big thing.

00:58And he was fighting every half before me, which was the number one contender.

01:04So obviously the UFC is rating highly and it's the number one contender fight in my eyes.

01:10So it's a lot of risk, but a lot of reward that comes with it as well.

01:14So the UFC haven't actually, like, officially said that, have they?

01:18But I think in everyone's mind, the winner of this is going to get a title shot.

01:22Is that, that's how you're viewing it or you're just taking it one fight at a time, right?

01:25Yeah, yeah. Well, yeah. Obviously, I'm not looking past Pico at all.

01:28I think I just go into every fight with the mindset of, I just need to win this fight.

01:33It doesn't really matter. But saying that now, it's a performance-based company.

01:39So you have, you have Gene Silver who's fighting Diego Lopez on the other side of the bracket.

01:46That could be a number one contender fight. And then there's me versus Pico.

01:50And it's all going to come down to who looks the best in them fights. That's it.

01:54It's who looks the best in them fights and what the fans are talking about.

01:57Because they pay for the fights, right? So I think whoever goes out there and puts on a dominant performance,

02:05makes a moment happen, is going to get an title shot.

02:09Back in 2013, you went through something that was obviously shocking and we wouldn't want anyone to go through that.

02:14But, you know, you survived it. You've come out the other side a stronger guy.

02:18How has it influenced you and how have you grown as a person and a fighter since going through that?

02:23It influences me massively, as you would know.

02:29Anybody that goes through hardship like that, they grow from it.

02:32They say, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. And it's very true.

02:35And do you know what? In terms of fighting, I just believe that I've been to the darkest of places that life can take you.

02:42So nothing else can put me in a worse place than that.

02:47Do you get what I'm saying?

02:48So it's like, when I'm going into these fights, what can anybody do to me that I've not already been through?

02:53I know that as long as you're not dead, you can come back from anything in it.

02:58So I think that not having that fear, reducing that fear has made me a stronger person and better mentally, more resilient.

03:08And even the bike accident I had in 2022, that brought me straight back to that place.

03:15And it was a dark time, but I just knew I'll get through it and I'll come out the other end stronger and a half.
