00:02It starts with Sonic running into the woods after doing graffiti against a picture of Eggman being chased by Swapbots,
00:09who apparently have lungs because two of them start gasping for breath and have to give up chasing him.
00:15Why would he make robots this way?
00:18After some padding, Sonic gets into the underground base,
00:21and I eventually have to put up with Sally treating him like an idiot for not remembering to wipe the mud off his shoes before he leaves the haystack.
00:30I'm glad Sonic gets ridden to complain about her, even if she is right.
00:35Because that's almost all she does about him.
00:38Sally whines that it's no picnic keeping him in line,
00:41and that reminds both of them that they were supposed to meet their friends for a picnic barbecue in the woods.
00:47How did both of them forget that?
00:49Thankfully, Sally feels bad about it because she's supposed to bring the ketchup.
00:55And Tails doesn't want to eat any of the hot dogs without ketchup,
00:58which is relatable to some people, including me.
01:01They go to the picnic,
01:03and apparently it's established that Antoine's the best cook-and-knothole village despite being a teenager.
01:10Pretty underpopulated village.
01:13Sally apologizes, and then just blames Sonic for them being late.
01:18And Sonic goes from saying they can tell stories later,
01:20to saying his friends are hungry and continuing to talk,
01:24when they get to eat faster if he didn't.
01:27And it's out of character for him to not call her out on blaming him.
01:31Eventually, Rotor explains that he made a portable grill
01:34that doesn't run the risk of Eggman's side seeing the smoke from it.
01:38Sonic says that's neat,
01:39and the writer forces him to say that he was actually noticing
01:42that there's one more hot dog left being rude for no reason.
01:46Sally says she's very impressed,
01:48and explains why the invention's useful to them.
01:52Tails and then everyone else cheers for Rotor,
01:54as I wish the writer was told that Tails could have made that invention instead.
01:59Everyone makes themselves useful carrying something as they leave the picnic,
02:03with Tails being eager to help.
02:05I can't wait for the actual plot to start.
02:09It's been padding for so long.
02:11They see a basket with snacks in it with an overly long name
02:14and a complimenting note that inexplicably doesn't say who it's for.
02:19That makes me wonder if it's a trap from Eggman.
02:22Rotor somehow thinks it's a birthday gift for himself,
02:25when his birthday's months from now,
02:28just to give the writer an excuse to have Antoine insult him.
02:31And when Sonic has a good point that's probably for him,
02:35Sally's made to be rude to him yet again.
02:38She's always used as a way for the writer to insult Sonic in the Sadie M stuff.
02:43And these are more old Archie material and still do it.
02:47She tells everyone to cover their eyes,
02:49and plans to hide it in the woods until they discover who it's for.
02:54That'd look especially smart if she suspected it was a trap from Eggman.
02:57Back in the village, it's Sonic's turn to man the Spy Scope.
03:02So at least they take turns instead of someone having to spend way too much time on that.
03:07That's smart to sell.
03:07And there's a bunch of padding after this where the various heroes remember what accomplishment they did recently to earn that basket.
03:15Sonic remembers that he got to free some non-roboticized workers at a Buzz Bomber factory.
03:20I wish Sadie M was like this.
03:24The heroes were getting to save people.
03:27It's not like everyone living in a robotic city is a robot.
03:30So they can actually save people regularly.
03:33And I just have to assume the reason they didn't get Chuck to Knothole already is that it's a big city.
03:40So it would take forever to find him.
03:43Or maybe he's being held somewhere.
03:45And this really goes to show that roboticization in Sadie M didn't need to be there.
03:50And didn't need to have black and red eyes as a feature.
03:53It was just a nice little extra detail that made Eggman look especially smart.
03:57Also, Sonic actually tries to spin jump at a SWAT bot.
04:01You'd never see that in Sadie M.
04:03I also like that there's badniks in the factory.
04:07And somehow, Antoine thinks that he was the one who attacked the robots so the workers could escape.
04:13Oh good, this doesn't lead to a huge amount of pages of all of Sonic's friends having the same delusion as Antoine.
04:20Sonic then flatters Tails and tries to cheer him up unsuccessfully.
04:24And asks him to take his turn at the spy scope.
04:27And uncharacteristically lies to him about why.
04:30He's being a jerk.
04:32But in a relatable, nobody's perfect sort of way.
04:36It's not ideal for Sonic.
04:38It's going too far in the other direction from Gary's due.
04:42Tails doesn't want to help.
04:43And we're supposed to know that's off for him.
04:45And when Sonic notices the flowers in his hand, he thinks that Tails thinks he's got a secret admirer, when I prefer the flowers were meant as a gift for one of his friends.
04:54And I'm thinking it'd be sweet if it turned out that Tails was the one who had the basket placed.
05:00So Sonic uncharacteristically falls to the floor laughing at Tails and is sarcastic with him.
05:06I don't think even Fleetway Sonic went that far.
05:09The writer took Sonic being cocky in the games to mean this in the most bad faith interpretation of him.
05:15But this is ultimately Sega of Japan's fault for not telling the writer that they have a good friendship.
05:21Tails leaves and Sonic eventually hopes Tails doesn't embarrass himself and calls him a good kid.
05:27Does he have a split personality?
05:29He just embarrasses Tails, so why would he care if he embarrasses himself?
05:35If he likes him for being a good kid, he's got even less of an excuse for mistreating the only other one he knows with magical powers.
05:43Sonic uses the spy scope to see a message spelled out with the rocks telling the heroes to follow a trail of baskets.
05:50Why is the one misspelling underlined in the message itself?
05:54There's some more padding after this.
05:56Eggman complains that the hidden camera on the basket of goodies would have led him to Knothole if Sally hadn't hidden it.
06:03I wish Tails and Rotor could have had that brilliant idea.
06:06You'd expect that out of the geniuses.
06:09It's a little interesting that Cluck can walk.
06:12It turns out Snively made the message in the trails.
06:15Who else but Eggman would have enough resources to leave all of those baskets of goodies for the heroes,
06:20when Antoine's the best chef in the village?
06:23I figured it was either him or a rich person there.
06:26So there must be some rich people in Knothole, so they assumed it was one of them.
06:30Snively Lampshade said they shouldn't be risking giving them all of these goodies.
06:35Besides padding, what's the point of wasting pages on telling the audience it's Eggman,
06:40when we would find that out anyways?
06:42When either way we'll know nothing what happened to the heroes.
06:46In a slightly long-winded way, all the heroes meet up with each other by accident near the message,
06:51and eventually see some flying robots that look nothing like Buzz Bombers or Buzzers,
06:56and get called Buzz Bombers without a space.
06:59So it is a different name.
07:01So it's not actually the same robots.
07:04But I did call them by the right name inside AM and old Archie then, if that's what they were going for.
07:10It's just that they're the ones who got it wrong.
07:13Why did they assume there's too many robots for them to beat?
07:16Sonic would just jump into one and start badnik bouncing them all, and so could Tails.
07:21Eventually Sonic yanks the cap off the new invention's storage tank,
07:25and makes a tornado to make a smoke screen, causing the robot's soul crashing into each other.
07:31So after some padding, Sonic nicely picks up Antoine's picnic basket for him before heading home.
07:37And after some padding in Knothole where Sonic says he bets Sally sorry he wasn't the secret admirer for her,
07:43Sally eventually explains that Frieden was spelled wrong because a badnik tried spelling it.
07:49So Eggman didn't put that in his vocabulary.
07:52She then insults her friends for not dressing in ties every day.
07:57When she's not exactly dressed formally either.
08:00So apparently she only wants guys to dress formally.
08:04Because it would make them look more attractive to her.
08:08But at least she says they look nice in them.
08:11Antoine's a jerk pointing out that they're his ties and he wants them back instead of just letting them be happy.
08:18And the story ends with Sonic giving the tie back while saying that he doesn't ever want to get tied down anyways.
08:24I'd be happier with this, but I don't know if the writer knows that's true.
08:28Because he still hasn't attracted to Sally.
08:31To be fair, being attracted to someone doesn't necessarily mean wanting to be tied down to just her for the rest of your life.
08:38And she's literally the only girl he's seen with yet.
08:42This story by John Michlik was annoying.
08:47Sally and Antoine were mean to Sonic as usual.
08:50And it was too predictable that the basket was just a trap from Eggman.
08:53Because why was the basket there instead of being delivered directly to their base?
08:58And yet none of them were smart enough to assume it was a trap and all fell for it.
09:02But Sonic's way of beating the robots was a lot more entertaining and impressive than if he just badnik bounced them all.
09:07And that was great, but doesn't make up for Sonic laughing at Tails for thanking someone who can fly has an admirer.
09:14So, I'm going to try to do a good job.
09:29So, I thought it was great.
09:30I ended up doing that with his own store.
09:32So, with character with my own store.
09:34So, I'm going to take a look at the board of the guy and Mariner.
09:36And if it is, say, this is the best one.
