Palestine Action is “violent” and has committed “significant injury” as well as criminal damage, Downing Street has said after hundreds of arrests were made at a protest linked to the group.

00:00Asked on Monday whether ministers were reconsidering the decision to designate Palestine Action
00:08as a terrorist organisation following that unprecedented protest where over 520 people
00:16were arrested in Parliament Square. On Saturday, the Prime Minister's official spokesman said no.
00:24He added Palestine Action was prescribed based on strong security advice following serious attacks the group has committed
00:34involving violence, significant injury and extensive criminal damage.
00:41In reference to Palestine Action, the government has said many people may not yet know the reality of the organisation,
00:51adding the full details of the prescription process cannot be shared for national security reasons.
01:01We understand the Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre, an independent authority based within MI5,
01:10had found the organisation had carried out three separate acts of terrorism.
01:16While speaking to the BBC on Monday, the Justice Minister Alex Davies Jones said there were credible reports
01:25of them targeting Jewish-owned businesses in the UK as well as other issues.
01:31Palestine Action said Downing Street's accusations were false and defamatory
01:37and disproven by the government's own intelligence assessment.
