00:00I want to start by asking you about the killing of Anas al-Sharif, the 28-year-old Al Jazeera correspondent killed with five, a group of five of them from Al Jazeera were killed.
00:10One other freelance journalist was also killed. What went through your mind when you heard that news?
00:14Thanks for having us on. First of all, you know, condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of those killed in this ruthless attack.
00:23When I first heard it, I was stunned, shocked, dismayed. This is really nothing short of an assassination and execution of journalists who were protected under the Geneva Convention to go about their work without being targeted.
00:42And it's symptomatic of what's happened in Gaza over the last two years that have been case after case of the Israeli government attacking journalists, which under no circumstances is legal.
00:57This is a clear breach of international law. These are war crimes that are being committed.
01:02And it breaks my heart. These are fellow journalists. These are these are colleagues.
01:07And we we keep seeing this kind of behavior. And I mean, there's no sense of any accountability from the Israeli government.
01:17And this is just another in the line of, I think, of nearly 200 people, 200 journalists killed simply doing their job for bearing witness.
01:27And I mean, these people like to work in the dark. They don't like the light being shined into them.
01:34And these brave, extremely brave journalists are being killed for holding these people to some degree of account.
