00:09Mr. Secretary, are you glad there's a meeting on Friday?
00:14Brian, I'm very glad there's a meeting, and I think the way this has been sequenced for the
00:18President's first months in office makes this timing absolutely perfect.
00:23President Trump has put real pressure on the Russians, just why Putin's talking.
00:26There's a good reason that Joe Biden didn't get asked for a meeting with Vladimir Putin.
00:30He didn't need to.
00:30He could continue to roll.
00:32Putin knows that he's played out the string.
00:34He might try to stiff President Trump on Friday, 96 hours from now.
00:38I'd be very surprised because the cost to him, if he does that, will be extremely high.
00:43So I think President Trump is showing up with an enormous amount of leverage.
00:46I'm confident that he will use that.
00:48You heard him say he'll know in a couple of minutes if there's an opportunity here.
00:51But even the Europeans, even that have been fighting alongside the Ukrainians, just as
00:56we have been, putting resources in there, they can see, too, this needs to come to an
01:01end.
01:01And Secretary General Ruta nailed it.
01:03President Trump is the perfect person at the perfect time to bring this war to resolution
01:07on terms that are really good for Europe and good for America.
01:10And we don't want to lose one casualty.
01:12It's a big story in America.
01:13They've lost over a million, over a million people at the battlefield.
01:16They're begging prisoners to fight.
01:19They're using North Koreans as proxies.
01:21And Yemenis, they're dragging them out of Yemen.
01:23Meanwhile, it turns out that Russia, over the last two years, has had a pitch battle.
01:29They've taken 18 percent of the country.
01:31You know how many percentage they've taken over the last two years?
01:34One percent.
01:35The Ukrainians have been fighting like true warriors.
01:39They have a smaller force, but they're as strong as any force in Europe.
01:43Yeah, right.
01:46The best trained army in Europe today is the Ukrainian military.
01:50They've done that with tremendous support from the Europeans and from the United States
01:53of America.
01:54But they should be credited with pushing back against a much bigger nation than theirs.
01:58Putin knows that.
02:00You'll see 96 hours now.
02:01Vladimir Putin understands that he has been totally unsuccessful at achieving his goal,
02:06political control of Ukraine.
02:07He's not going to get that.
02:08And now there's an opportunity to sequence this properly, to get the ceasefire and deliver
02:13an outcome that is a really good outcome, one that demonstrates that Vladimir Putin made
02:18a tragic mistake and that he lost this war.
02:20So maybe you could help me here.
02:22I understand when Steve Whitcoff emerged from the meeting with Vladimir Putin, he said that
02:26there was Putin was prepared to exchange, Zaporizhia and Kyrgyzstan exchanged for full control
02:31of Donetsk.
02:32And then the next day, Whitcoff walked back the claim in a call with the chief aides and
02:37European leaders.
02:39And then the European leaders call back for further clarification.
02:42What's going on here?
02:45Oh, my sense is that Whitcoff was having a conversation with Putin.
02:49There were ideas tossed around.
02:50I think, Brian, we should all settle in.
02:52These next three and a half, four days before the summit, people are going to put out their
02:56maximalist positions.
02:58But what will really take place and the important moment is when those two leaders are in the
03:02room and President Trump lays down the law, which I'm very confident that he will.
