00:00The intensity of seismic activity and volume of magma and volcanic elements inside Taal Volcano has gone up.
00:07Hence, FIVOC's director, Teresito Bacolcol, and leading agency officials have agreed to release an advisory on the volcano status
00:15with the aim of prepping local residents for a potential eruption of volcanic discharge.
00:20Our Joshua Garcia fills us in with more.
00:23The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, or FIVOC's, warns of the possibility of another eruption of Taal Volcano.
00:31According to the agency, a phreatic eruption or a minor phreatomagmatic eruption may occur at Taal Volcano.
00:38This warning is based on monitored parameters according to FIVOC's.
00:41FIVOC's director, Teresito Bacolcol, explained that the agency recorded an increase in real-time seismic amplitude measurement, or RSAM, from the volcano starting yesterday morning.
00:50Although, hindi naman necessarily na mangyari nga kaagad.
00:55Katulad yung mangyari noong July 6, naglabasin tayo ng advisory kasi ito maas yung RSAM din natin,
01:00and 11 days after, nagkaroon po tayo ng phreatic or phreatomagmatic eruption.
01:04In relation to this, FIVOC's reported that five volcanic tremors were recorded in the past 24 hours.
01:10In addition, in the earlier advisory released by FIVOC's yesterday, a total of 19 volcanic earthquakes were recorded starting August 9.
01:17FIVOC's also noted that plumes emitted from the main crater have increased from moderate to voluminous since the increase in RSAM.
01:25Also, sulfur dioxide levels have decreased since June.
01:28Despite these developments, Taal Volcano remains under alert level 1.
01:32Ang nakikita lang natin pagtas yung RSAM, but then again, kailangan natin titignan sa kabuuan, bago natin itaas yung alert level 1 to alert level 2.
01:42So again, for now, imaintain muna natin yung alert level 1, meaning there is a low level of unrest.
01:47FIVOC reminds the public to be vigilant, and the entry to Taal Volcano Island, which is part of the permanent danger zone, remains strictly prohibited.
01:54This is especially important given the possibility of a sudden eruption.
01:59According to the agency, there is currently no need to wear face masks.
02:03FIVOC's added that they have not yet received any reports of a pungent odor caused by sulfur dioxide from the volcano.
