00:00okay hello everybody we put your hands up if you've got a question and we'll give you the mic
00:26Martin thank you um Palace have had a a long wait to come to Wembley and win things and now you've done
00:33it twice in three months was today in some ways a sign of where you've gone as a club and as a team
00:40because you could have been blown away in the first 10 minutes and yet the longer the game went on
00:45the better you were i don't agree that we can have been blown away in the first 10 minutes the first
00:51shot was the first goal so but the reaction was great and because you also you know first game
00:57playing Liverpool first chance this core of chance first shot this core um the reaction was great
01:04because then we played forward we played most of the time in their half and scored the equalizer
01:10and then without even without the chance we're throwing 2-1 down and direction erection was great
01:16again at halftime we said we stick to our plane we keep calm we know that we will get a few chances
01:23and then it's okay a score from it we know that we can score uh and we will get the situations players
01:29did it had the confidence had the belief and so i'm really pleased with the performance today so
01:34i think after the 90 minutes it was a game where both teams uh were more or less on the same level uh
01:43and and this makes us proud yeah against the liverpool against the the champion of the premier league
01:48you see the celebrations of your fans again the happiness that they showed was was you know shared
01:55by your players wasn't it it says that sometimes these things these matches mean a lot more than
02:01than you might think from the outside that they do absolutely and i showed the players a video before
02:07before we went to wembley about the happiness of the fans after winning the fa cup and this is we call
02:13it the the emotional reward you know you standing here in front of the fans having this this emotions
02:19this feeling you can't buy with any money in the world so you have to deserve it and the players
02:24deserved it after the fake up and the players deserved it today our fans deserved it in the same way
02:29because they were they are always supporting us from the beginning until the end even today when we were
02:33down they're always pushing the team forward and then there's a great connection and at the end we
02:38all were rewarded and this is what then stays forever just a quick one for me a word for the goalkeeper
02:44and also you managed to put aside the thoughts of what's happening in lausanne tomorrow so the two
02:51very different issues but how positive for you was that as well that your players could put that
02:57completely to one side another goalkeeper or the cuss yes team
03:03uh we know that dean is a great goalkeeper he saved many many or he cleared many chances uh
03:10for us uh supported us and also there's also a lot of working behind for example the day before
03:16the meeting in the hotel with the analyst with uh uh his goalkeeping coach he went through all the
03:22penalty takers uh from liverpool and he's well prepared and then he has the confidence i think that
03:27he can save the penalties he showed it but also on the other side i'm really delighted that justin
03:33divaney took the decisive penalty you know 21 year olds and it's it's and it was when we were
03:38talking about um we didn't talk before never uh because you don't know who's on the pitch after a few
03:45subs and it was clear then uh jp um abarici and ismila take the first three then borna is usually a good
03:54penalty taker and then we were looking for the fifth one and justin said i take the fifth one with a lot of
03:59uh confidence and then i said okay it's you and i think he showed it and this this is how we want
04:05uh to be yeah um take responsibility never um be be scared or be worried or concerned that you can
04:15make a mistake because this is football and uh so this is what really many positive things today
04:20okay thank you thank you just on mark again was it a serious injury that he's come off cramp just
04:29cramp okay okay gentleman now at the back just towards the back now thank you
04:33oliver me uh would you swap this for a win tomorrow
04:48no i think we will uh
04:52we will accept what happens you know today's performance we could influence and i think the
04:57players showed it and proved it in an excellent way that uh they didn't think about what's about
05:03the noise around us so they were really focused on on what they had to do on the pitch and this is why
05:09we could win tomorrow we have no influence and that means players will uh celebrate tonight and we will
05:14meet tomorrow um for lunch and train in the afternoon and then we will see if we already know the decision
05:20and we will accept it so we can't influence it so we don't really we don't think about it because
05:24um tomorrow afternoon we will uh schedule the rest of the august if we stay in the conference league
05:31we have five more games to play if we play in the europa league with three more weeks to train
05:36what would be helpful but again no influence so i i don't think about it i know you said you've got
05:42no influence but do you do you expect palace to come out with well i don't know i don't know gentleman
05:49behind there thank you hi oliver um you played liverpool at the end of last season and your squad
05:58is largely the same whereas liverpool's had lots of changes both in and out um did you make any drastic
06:04changes to your game plan considering all these new liverpool players particularly from an attacking
06:09point of view or did you kind of largely stick with what you worked last season no we always stick to
06:14our principles and it was the same team uh playing the start of the same team started like in the fa cup
06:21final at liverpool we missed marquee and adam wharton due to concussions um and uh no we we know uh when
06:31when when we play as a team when we stick uh to our principles and and do it in the right way we're
06:38always having the togetherness and the belief in us then it's not so easy to play against us we know that we
06:44can always we're always able to score goals and and uh i think we showed it again this is something
06:50that was created over over months uh and and of course was the at the end of the season was lifting
06:58the first trophy for us um it's just uh underlined this process and this is i mentioned it in the press
07:05conference before the game i said we started on a completely different level than the year before
07:10because the team stayed together and this is always you know it's consistency this is always there is
07:15is one of the of the foundations of success uh and hopefully we can keep the squad together
07:24any others
07:29hi oliver um obviously winning today is the perfect way to start a season really how much confidence does
07:37this give you going into the premier league season not just a win i think the performance gives us a
07:43lot of confidence uh and um so we we had confidence with a very good pre-season we also could see that
07:51we are not on the top level um we didn't expect it for example chris richards is just in training for
07:57two weeks because he played the gold cup with the usa a few other players danny munoz is in training for
08:02three weeks so the the we've still to to build up uh resilience physical resilience so mentally the
08:08players were absolutely top today but physically we we have to improve all the games that come up
08:14and this is what we will do and therefore you need a rhythm of games you need training rhythm not
08:20just for two or three weeks really over over weeks and months and this is what we started but of course
08:25always winning something being competitive against the champion gives you confidence and and this is
08:30what we will take from today's game thank you okay rachel from pa however congratulations again may
08:37just check on the fitness of daji kamado obviously he came off and what his injury was yes it was there
08:42when he was close to get that penalty and then there he got injured his looks like the knee he feels it's
08:50not that worse but he had pain um so yeah we will um look after him in more detail tomorrow and then
08:59let's see of course uh but it looks like it's not that serious but it could be that he misses maybe
09:03one or two games so thanks um and also i know you don't like singling out individual players but uh
09:09saw really likes to score at wembley it seems what is it about him that allows him to kind of rise up
09:13these kinds of occasions he didn't score in preseason so fortunately he he saved his goals for the the
09:21first competitive game and yeah he did well he also he was fouled uh when we got the penalty and scored
09:30the goal but all you could see all our attackers had the chances at jp before the penalty ever
09:35reaching the second half is a big save of uh allison and and ismaila as well and we know that our three
09:43attackers we will bring them into situations uh where they can score and today it was jp and uh ismaila
09:50and it will the others will follow thank you okay last one there thank you
09:58um i saw that you've been speaking to fans over the summer and also i saw the constant support from
10:03the fans today um and with mateta going over and encouraging them to get louder i was going to say
10:09do you think that crystal palace has an advantage or perhaps you were doing more to connect with your
10:13fans is giving you that belief in these matches and maybe other clubs can learn from the connection
10:18that you have with your fans i don't talk about the other clubs but what i definitely know is that
10:24we have a great connection between the team the club and our fans and it's i think every crystal
10:30palace fan is very proud of being a crystal palace fan is very proud of where they are from is very proud
10:35of having this togetherness and supporting uh the team and every player is what i can tell you is
10:41every player is very proud um wearing the the eagle shirt and and uh playing also for our fans and
10:48and and i mentioned it after the fake cup and this is really my honest belief is is you know we could
10:54give them hours where they forgot all the stuff what they are having in in in their real life because
11:01in the football is sometimes like a bubble uh and and it's the same you know i said to the what really
11:07we're talking today about it is like you go to a musical theater and you want just uh enjoy two
11:13hours uh and and forget all the stuff around it and this is what we can deliver to our fans and i
11:19think this is what they appreciate and we we never promise that we win a game this is what we can't
11:23promise but i think what they appreciate and this is why the connection is is so close they appreciate
11:29that the team always gives 100 for crystal palace for the eagle and and tries to win the game and i think
11:35this is the feeling everybody has it doesn't always uh happen uh but then it's not the problem yeah
11:41and and i think this is uh where we um is also a foundation of our of our success this togetherness
11:48the spirit um and this is not just the players or the staff it's really the whole club uh where
11:55the fans are involved thank you very much cheers everyone thank you
12:02see you soon
