00:00From outside, the Stainedrop Lodge Hotel looks like what you'd expect from a friendly local
00:04B&B, yet online it's been mired in controversy.
00:09During the Covid-19 lockdowns, the property was used as a hostel for homeless people before
00:13becoming a hotel used to house asylum seekers.
00:16And so, when owners took over the business earlier this year they were faced with a problem,
00:21as people both locally and from further afield still associated it with asylum seekers.
00:26Even throughout this past week, the hotel has been named online in a widely shared list
00:30of 200 confirmed asylum seeker hotels, despite the fact that this isn't the case.
00:36Nevertheless, management are working to help rebuild the once popular business and say
00:40that after months of refurbishment, local people are beginning to return to the restaurant and
00:44bar with the hotel in use for customers once again.
