Heavy monsoon showers lashed Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) on Saturday, causing waterlogging on key roads and widespread traffic snarls. Reports of inundated streets have emerged from several parts of the city, including major arterial routes and underpasses, severely disrupting vehicular movement. The downpour turned the morning commute into an ordeal for motorists and public transport users alike. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast more rain and thunderstorms for the day, while officials have issued a red alert for the city.

00:27almost over the past 10 hours torrential rains have lashed the entire delhi ncr region streets
00:34across delhi ncr are waterlogged heavy rains are lashing delhi ncr region over 90 flights have been
00:41delayed few have been cancelled my colleague amit bharadwaj is now joining me on the story
00:47amid this these are you know sad scenes to see that some of the roads in the national capital
00:52a little bit of a downpour and we see a lot of underpasses flooded we see many arterial roads
00:58being flooded because of incessant rainfall
01:00ashwarya you know it could be a perfect beginning to a weekend if you live in delhi ncr with the
01:10rains and the turn of events which is happening right now but that comes with a clause the clause
01:16that you don't need to step out of your home and if you do this is what you are going to face this
01:22is the national capitals ito the one of the most important you know roads connectivity road of the
01:30national capital and that's what is happening the traffic is moving on a single lane because the rest of
01:36the lane is completely inundated and many like this gentleman who is struggling to cross through
01:44the footpath because the main road is inundated traffic movement sometimes the water comes splashing
01:51on you and that is why in order to be safe you take the footpath route but even there is a scare
01:57of you know a possible pothole being open or you know the drain being open so that is a fear
02:05which keeps on looming large when you're moving on the streets of the national capital at this
02:11point in time and if the irony had it ashwarya the big building right next to me i'll request
02:19emmanuel to pan the camera this particular building which the boundary wall is clearly half of the
02:26boundary wall is inundated that's one of the structural planning institutes in the national capital
02:32which often faces this water logging situation for the delhiwalas to have a sag of relief there are
02:41these heavy pumps which are operational right now to tackle with the situation and those
02:47visuals you will notice in several parts of the national capital where the water logging is evident at
02:53this point in time but the bigger question is where is the planning of the national capital the city that
03:00should be able to control and operate normally despite this rainfall rainfall should be something
03:07that you are able to enjoy and not a punishment especially you know today is rocky many of the
03:13delhiwalas and the ncr areas it's a time when uh our sisters and brothers from different parts of the
03:20ncr do travel either to delhi or a travel from delhi to areas such as great noida bakpat
03:26uh in several parts of harryana panipat bahadurgarh all of that area right and it's a test certainly
03:35for the brothers or sisters who would be stepping out uh to you know celebrate this festival of rakhi
03:40because for you it's the inundated roads of the national capital what's waiting for you back to you
03:46right amit please stay on with me my colleague himanshu is also now joining me on the story
03:50himanshu sehlaabh saa nazer a raha hai dhilli ki kai sari roads ki upar lag-bagh pishle 10 ghante
03:56se barish hooti jari hai ito ki baat karen to ito pe bhi bhoat sara pani is samayi khatta ho

04:09aur sham tuk aapko batao yeh jab mein aapse baat karne laga itne mehi bharish puri tariqe
04:14se te jokai eek ghante se bharish bhehat kam halki halki ho rahi thi lekin pichle 15 minit
04:20se drugara se mahal banna
04:40the people who have moved the water
04:47and they have no idea when the water is
04:47or when the water is
04:49or when the water is
04:50maybe the water is
04:51so we don't know
04:53the people who have tried to
04:54make the water
04:55because the water is
04:57the main cause can be
05:02that the traffic
05:04we start to
05:05but the Saturday
06:36The Congress and the Amadmi Party, both of them now pointing fingers at the BJP and saying that you used to speak about flooding during rainfall.
06:44Something similar is happening under the BJP regime also.
07:14The bureaucrats are not following our instructions.
07:17In fact, in a moment from now, the usual visuals from both sides will be out.
07:22Number one, you will see the Delhi government, the Rekha Gupta government being in action, the ministers on the ground.
07:28Those visuals coming out very soon from now.
07:30And on the other side, Saurabh Bhardwa, Jatishi, all of these Delhi Amadmi Party leadership taking out these visuals, putting out on the social media, showing as to how the Delhi roads are inundated.
07:43So, the political war slugfest will begin any time from now.
07:48But the battle for the Delhi Wallas and especially I am again saying the NCR people is truly, really a big one today.
07:56It's raining heavily.
07:58You are expecting traffic.
07:59And anyway, because of the festive season, the roads are supposed to be, you know, full of traffic today.
08:05And when the day is beginning like this one, this gentleman is trying to wade through the water to go through the other side.
08:15It's a new car.
08:16That's why he's being also careful.
08:18But let me also show you the visuals of what's happening out here.
08:23The road that goes towards Rajpath.
08:26You will see heavy motors, pumps which have been deployed out here in order to deal with the situation, the heavy water logging that's on the footpath and on the road.
08:39Where are you coming from?
08:40India Gets.
08:41India Gets.
08:42You are going?
08:43No, they have come for duty.
08:45Okay.
08:45In this headquarters.
08:47Where do you work?
08:48Delhi Police Headquarters.
08:49Delhi Police Headquarters.
08:50Yes.
08:51Is it difficult to be?
08:52Yes, sir.
09:21Aishwarya, that's the reality of Delhi but we must also say one thing, slight improvement
09:28in the situation that you can certainly say is if Emmanuel will be able to pan the camera
09:34to the other side, that lane also used to be completely inundated on days like this
09:40one but today we do not see water logging on the other side of this ITO junction which
09:48essentially is the road which takes you towards the Deendayal Upadhyay Marg or towards Mandi
09:53house.
09:54So water logging is not on that side of the road as much as it is on this side.
10:00In fact it's almost next to nothing on that side because the PWD department had done some
10:08reworking on that particular stretch on the days when there were heavy rains in July but
10:16the situation on the other side, the road which takes you towards Noida, towards Akshar
10:21Dharm is like the one that we are facing right now, knee deep water, people struggling to
10:28wade through the water and those who have to go towards Akshar Dharm, towards Noida, they
10:33have to use a single lane in the national capital and it has also become a template of swords.
10:38If you are driving on the Delhi roads is that you believe that water logging is going to
10:43be on 70% or 60% of the road and that is why you start taking the single lane on the route
10:49that you are on.
10:50Back to you.
10:51Thank you Amit giving us all those details.
10:53My colleague Amit is standing at the ITO, one of the most crucial junctions in the national
10:56capital.
10:57Unfortunately, we have seen incessant rainfall over the past 10 hours or so and we are seeing
11:01the ITO now almost flooded.
