00:30The exciting adventures about a classic figure of the American Revolution, Yankee Doodle.
01:00Come on, Freddy. Pick up your feet. You're in the Midnight Militia now.
01:08Spot, you stay in step two.
01:12Cross the redcoats.
01:14The British are coming.
01:15We'll march off and whip them, just like my dad's gonna do.
01:19Woo! Woo! Woo! Woo!
01:22And George Washington, too.
01:25Danny!
01:27Uh-oh. Looks like the war's over, Danny.
01:30Yeah.
01:32Oh, my ear.
01:34Come on, now.
01:35Oh, let go.
01:37You're coming home with me.
01:39We weren't really going anywhere.
01:42We were only playing.
01:44Danny, I don't care.
01:46Now your father's gone off to fight the revolution, and that's enough.
01:50He'll be shooting all over Massachusetts if the redcoats march on Concord.
01:54And a 12-year-old boy's got no place sticking his head up for to get it shot off.
01:59But, Mom, Mr. Franklin's Gazette says a whole country's being born.
02:05America.
02:07I want to help.
02:08There's plenty to do right around here with your father gone.
02:12Like what?
02:13Chop the wood?
02:15Get the screen door mended?
02:16Go round out horseshoes?
02:18Read a book you've got your lessons to do?
02:21Oh, Ma.
02:23Dad's in Concord with all the other patriots right now.
02:26They're setting to fight the redcoats for America's independence so we can be free of England.
02:33I want to do something important, too.
02:36The whole British Army may come marching on us.
02:39What's important is doing what you do best.
02:42Start with the horseshoes.
02:45Folks will be moving plenty quick around here once that British Army starts marching.
02:49Do you really think they'll come?
02:56That's it.
03:00The glowing beacon.
03:01The sign.
03:03The British are coming.
03:04They're coming.
03:05They're going to try to arrest all our leaders in Lexington and Concord.
03:09America won't have a chance in this war if we lose men like Sam Adams and John Hancock.
03:15Go warn them, Paul.
03:16Alert our countryside.
03:18Well, General, these Yankees say they're going to have their own country that will teach them to pay their taxes to England.
03:32Yes, and some civilized behavior as well.
03:40Order!
03:43Arms!
03:43Arise!
03:54The British are coming!
03:59The British are coming!
04:06The British are coming!
04:13Percy, I hear the rebels have actually gathered a small army together near Concord.
04:19Mostly farmers, schoolmasters and other such shoddy regulars.
04:24It is our happy mission to disperse this unsightly mob,
04:29ending once and for all their disgraceful delinquency to the crown.
04:34We'll teach them to act like proper little gentlemen, sir.
04:38Good.
04:40Now, the ringleaders are nearby in Lexington and are sure to hear the commotion once the shooting starts
04:46and so escape our most solicitors' attentions.
04:50Would you therefore be so kind, Percy, as to take a few of our best lads and ride on ahead?
04:56If anyone tries to sound the alarm or actually aid the rebels, arrest them.
05:03Yes.
05:10They had luck. Threw a shoe on the bridge.
05:22I'll have to try to get help up ahead.
05:25No telling what's behind me.
05:28Daddy?
05:29You finished your chores yet?
05:30All done, Mom.
05:31Oh, oh, oh.
05:32All right.
05:33Turn out the light and go to bed.
05:34Oh, oh, oh, oh.
05:35Yes?
05:36Is your father home?
05:37My father's away.
05:38Gone to Concord.
05:39Too bad.
05:40I was heading there.
05:41But my horse needs a shoe.
05:43Oh, I can do it.
05:44Oh, oh, oh, oh.
05:45Yes?
05:46Is your father home?
05:47My father's away.
05:48Gone to Concord.
05:49Too bad.
05:50I was heading there.
05:51But my horse needs a shoe.
05:52Oh, I can do it.
05:53Woof, woof.
05:54You swing that hammer mighty well, son.
05:56Dad says being a blacksmith is handy.
05:58I wanted to go off and help in the revolution.
06:00But Mom says doing what you do well, son.
06:02Dad says being a blacksmith is handy.
06:04I wanted to go off and help in the revolution.
06:06But Mom says doing what you do well is doing what's important.
06:19She's right.
06:20Maybe you're helping in a way you don't know yet.
06:22Danny!
06:23That's Ma.
06:24You and Spott get inside here.
06:27So long, Danny.
06:29Come on, Danny.
06:31So long, Danny.
06:36Who was that man who just rode off?
06:39He said his name was Paul Revere.
06:43You are under arrest.
06:46Mom!
06:47Mom!
06:48What are they going to do to me?
06:50You'll see, Sonny.
06:51Oh, Danny!
06:52I've got a special rope for rebels.
07:01The British Army doesn't make war by arresting children.
07:10Hardly does you service as a gentleman.
07:13Incarcerating a boy, I mean, really, Percy.
07:16But, General, he shod Paul Revere's horse,
07:20helped him get away,
07:21and warned the rebels in Lexington and Concord.
07:24Bah! What does it matter?
07:26We'll have the whole bag of rebels soon enough.
07:28This American Revolution will be over in five minutes.
07:33And that's an order.
07:34Yes, sir.
07:36What can a mere boy do?
07:40Ow!
07:41It didn't have to make him so tight.
07:44Woo! Woo! Woo! Woo!
07:45None of your blood must be thankful you're getting off.
07:50Yes, come before me again, and you'll be in hot water.
07:54I trust you realize the seriousness of this situation.
07:57Oh, I understand, sir.
07:59It's your series, all right.
08:01Shh!
08:05Spot, stop that!
08:07Contain that mongrel boy.
08:08Keep him away from that duff.
08:10You'll be harmed the hair on the head of that splendid cat.
08:12You'll be sorry, I promise you.
08:14Yes, sir.
08:16There, Percy.
08:18See how very simple this all is
08:20when you explain things logically.
08:22We've won the first victory of this so-called revolution.
08:28Great.
08:28We'll have no further trouble.
08:31I want to thank you, General, sir, for your kind feelings.
08:35I promise I'll do something to repay them.
08:38Come on, Spot.
08:39Oh! Oh! Oh!
08:40What can a kid do?
08:52We'll show him what a kid can do.
08:54All right, men. You have your equipment. You have your instructions. You have your assignments.
09:13We're going to sneak into his lair, walk right up to the British lion, and tweak him by the nose.
09:20Really? Uh, couldn't we pull his tail instead?
09:25Listen, Freddy, this is no time to get cold feet. You were all for marching when we formed the militia.
09:32Okay, now it's time to march right up to the enemy.
09:36I was just thinking of what would happen if we got caught.
09:40My mother would kill me.
09:42Never mind what your mother would do. Just think of what the British would do.
09:46Think of what they'd do to you, Danny. You've already been caught once.
09:51He sure wouldn't go easy on you.
09:53You'd be a hot water for sure.
09:56That's right. That's what they said. We're just thinking of you, Danny.
10:00Well, it's time we all stopped thinking about each other, and our mothers, and the British, and just started thinking about our country.
10:07Gentlemen, we have a job to do tonight.
10:12We'll do our part to humiliate British power tonight.
10:17The Midnight Militia is ready to strike.
10:21Okay, now remember, only cut halfway through.
10:41Leave just enough so they'll fall for it.
10:44Oh, oh, oh.
10:45Come on, Danny. We've got to be out of here.
11:00Almost ready.
11:11Hurry. It's getting light.
11:13Men, we are engaged in a combat across the breadth of these colonies
11:38with some very stubborn rebels who call themselves Americans.
11:47And the way to defeat these rebels is to ride over them.
11:53Gentlemen, follow me.
11:57Troop!
11:58Moat!
12:00They're all... all wet.
12:14We're under attack by wild Indians.
12:32Sound me along!
12:33Tony.
12:57Oh!
12:58Yeah!
12:59Oh, oh.
12:59Oh!
13:00Ah! You again!
13:03Uh-oh!
13:10You're a blasted delinquent you are!
13:13Ah, such a devilish little troublemaker.
13:15Well, since you seem determined to make war on the whole British army,
13:19I suppose we'll have to deal with you.
13:21We'll make an example of you.
13:24The gallows are handy for that, sir.
13:27The rope's brand new.
13:29Could use a little stretching.
13:32What? Hanging?
13:36No. That's too good for him.
13:39No, we won't make him a hero.
13:42That's what you want, isn't it?
13:44Boy, you sure are right, General.
13:46That's what I want, all right?
13:49You gonna give it to me?
13:51No!
13:52You remember what I told you would happen if you came before me again?
13:57You said I'd be in hot water, sir.
14:00Ha-ha-ha! Exactly!
14:02And so you shall!
14:04In the camp laundry!
14:06Right up to your armpits!
14:08You'll find plenty to do there, yes!
14:11And while you're cleaning up your records, we'll be cleaning up the rebels!
14:17By gum, we can sure use your help around here.
14:25We do a lot of washing, lad.
14:28Spotless Harry likes his troops, well, spotlessly clean!
14:34I'm sorry, Mr. McCoy, but I'm not going to like it.
14:38Nothing personal, you understand, but I don't think it's really patriotic doing the British Army's dirty work.
14:44Neither do I, Danny!
14:47They stuck me in here for dumping all that tea in Boston Harbor!
14:51Ha-ha-ha!
14:52But Spotless Harry gives all the orders around here.
14:56He wouldn't dream of marching his army off to battle without their fresh scrubbed Dutch!
15:03Really?
15:05That's interesting!
15:10It's him!
15:12I got him!
15:13Where?
15:14Over by the laundry!
15:18You sure he knows we're here?
15:20The message says to watch him!
15:23What's he doing?
15:27He's hanging up some wash.
15:31Wait a minute!
15:33He's sending a message!
15:35In code!
15:36What's it say?
15:42Uh, escape not advisable at this time.
15:54Uh, think I can do more on the inside.
16:03Boy, his mother's not going like that.
16:06Stand by for further instructions.
16:12I wonder what he's got in mind.
16:20Danny, look!
16:21Maybe this is what you've been waiting for.
16:24See?
16:25Spotless Harry likes to doodle at dinner.
16:34This tablecloth is actually a map!
16:36What's it say?
16:37A big British army is gonna move down out of the north, while another comes up out of Boston.
16:46That's Spotless Harry's boys!
16:47That's Spotless Harry's boys!
16:48Right!
16:49And together they'll converge from both directions on Saratoga!
16:55The city will be surrounded!
16:58America will be cut in two!
17:01The revolution lost!
17:03We've got to stop it!
17:05Well, your Spotless Harry could be prevented from marching, but I'm afraid that's beyond our power!
17:13We've got a whole army of laundry to do, and a mountain of trade goods to send to China to barter for tea!
17:24Couldn't we do it the other way around?
17:28I'm not sure I understand!
17:36What's it say?
17:39It says, go get a buckboard and some lye and be at the camp gates at dawn.
17:52The camp gates?
17:54There!
17:56Destination China!
18:03Okay, now in with the wash!
18:06Bet this is the first load of wash ever took a trip round the world to Chinese laundry!
18:14These clothes will all set sail for China at noon!
18:17They won't be back for a year!
18:19Now, if your friends just don't let us down!
18:26I must protest, this is highly irregular!
18:39It isn't customary we give up our old uniforms until after we receive our clean one!
18:45General's orders!
18:46You want to look nice when you march into Saratogi, don't you?
18:50Everybody's doing it!
18:51Even the General!
18:52Hehehehe!
19:02Lie!
19:03That'll sure do it!
19:04Why, there won't be a stitcher uniform left after that stuff works!
19:08Okay!
19:09Let's let her rip!
19:16It's working!
19:17Hehehehe!
19:18The uniforms!
19:19They're dissolving!
19:23Naturally, we can't march like this!
19:25We can't even fight like this!
19:27Can't do anything like this!
19:29Except hide!
19:30Hide!
19:31Percy, I'm afraid we're lost at Saratoga!
19:34Er...
19:35General!
19:36I hate to tell you this, but...
19:38Yes, yes!
19:39Speak up, man!
19:40General Washington appeared this morning with the whole American army on the heights above Boston!
19:46General!
19:47Do you know what that means?
19:50Yes, Percy!
19:52We're finished!
19:53We've won, Mom!
19:54We've won at Saratoga!
