00:00One week ago today, on Friday 1st August, we launched a murder investigation after 57-year-old
00:07Robert Brown was found fatally injured in Northampton.
00:12Robert was found shortly after 6.30pm that morning on a bench behind auctioneer's court.
00:18He was on the towpath which runs along the River Nen between the Wathen-Wig Bridge, locally
00:24known as the Yellow Footpath and Becketts Bridge, locally known as the Snake Path.
00:32Over the past week, a dedicated team of officers have been working around the clock.
00:37We have carried out extensive house-to-house enquiries, reviewed hours of CCTV footage and
00:43spoken with many witnesses and I would like to thank everyone who has helped us thus far.
00:49However, we are still missing that one piece of information that will unlock this investigation
00:56and I am appealing to you today to help us to establish the circumstances that led to Robert's death.
01:03We know it's a popular and busy route along the towpath and I would ask anyone who we have
01:07not yet spoken with to please get in touch.
01:11We would particularly like to hear from anyone who was in the area on the night of the Thursday
01:17the 31st of July and Friday the 1st of August, including members of the boating community
01:24who may have been travelling through our county.
01:27Even if you do not think that you have any relevant information, we still want to hear from you.
01:33Any little detail may help us to piece together exactly how Robert died.
01:39Robert was a very much loved father, grandfather, son, brother and a friend to many.
01:46His death has left his family truly devastated and they deserve to know what happened to him.
01:52On behalf of Northamptonshire Police, I would like to express my deepest and heartfelt condolences
01:57to Robert's family and friends and to anyone who knew and loved him.
