The detective in charge of the investigation into the death of 57-year-old Robert Brown in Northampton on August 1, believes the key to exactly what happened to Robert lies within the local community.
Senior Investigating Officer Detective Inspector Torie Harrison has issued a video appeal to urge anyone who may have information and has not yet spoken to the police to get in touch.

00:00One week ago today, on Friday 1st August, we launched a murder investigation after 57-year-old
00:07Robert Brown was found fatally injured in Northampton.
00:12Robert was found shortly after 6.30pm that morning on a bench behind auctioneer's court.
00:18He was on the towpath which runs along the River Nen between the Wathen-Wig Bridge, locally
00:24known as the Yellow Footpath and Becketts Bridge, locally known as the Snake Path.
00:32Over the past week, a dedicated team of officers have been working around the clock.
00:37We have carried out extensive house-to-house enquiries, reviewed hours of CCTV footage and
00:43spoken with many witnesses and I would like to thank everyone who has helped us thus far.
00:49However, we are still missing that one piece of information that will unlock this investigation
00:56and I am appealing to you today to help us to establish the circumstances that led to Robert's death.
01:03We know it's a popular and busy route along the towpath and I would ask anyone who we have
01:07not yet spoken with to please get in touch.
01:11We would particularly like to hear from anyone who was in the area on the night of the Thursday
01:17the 31st of July and Friday the 1st of August, including members of the boating community
01:24who may have been travelling through our county.
01:27Even if you do not think that you have any relevant information, we still want to hear from you.
01:33Any little detail may help us to piece together exactly how Robert died.
01:39Robert was a very much loved father, grandfather, son, brother and a friend to many.
01:46His death has left his family truly devastated and they deserve to know what happened to him.
