00:00Ms. Cara, I've already known you as a meme queen, so how do you react with that?
00:07I don't know! I don't know!
00:11Well, I love social media, and it's a chance for me to be me.
00:17You know, in the documentary world, we're projected as sobrang serious,
00:25and I still have that serious side of me, but I also have my quirky side,
00:29and I'm just so glad that I can show that on social media through TikTok, through Facebook,
00:34and thank you sa mga netizens, kasi na-appreciate nyo yung humor ko!
00:41How do you balance that humorous side and that serious side?
00:46Lahat naman kasi tayo merong serious side at merong humorous side.
00:51I mean, boring naman ang buhay kapag masyadong seryoso lang,
00:56at parang walang saisay naman ang buhay kung tawa-tawa lang lahat.
00:59So, it has to be a healthy mix of the two.
01:02How do I balance it? I just be myself. Just be yourself. Every day.
01:08Diba? Sa lahat ng coverage mo. Mas authentic, mas natural, mas tumatatak sa puso.
01:14Mas ma-ano pa rin yung body of work ng journalist?
01:18Ah, okay. Well, I always tell my students,
01:23because I'm a journalism professor, I mean, I teach journalism in the University of the Philippines,
01:29and I always tell my students, you are not the story, you are just the storyteller.
01:35So, any chance to call attention to yourself, kung kayang iwasan, iwasan.
01:44Pero, minsan kasi, napapansin tayo ng mga tao. Diba? At hindi naman natin kontrolado yung utak ng mga tao. Diba?
01:52And, I think that's fine. If people can relate to you, then that's fine. There's nothing wrong with it.
01:58Pero, basta sigurado ka lang sa utak mo that you're here to tell a story, not to be the story.
