In 1945, the world witnessed an incident that no one could ever foresee. It was when the United States of America detonated two atomic bom*s over Japan's 2 Cities- Hiroshima and Nagasaki. They were the little boy and fat man. This incident took the lives of lakhs of people, and the intensity was so high that the radiation still affected the people who live there. But what is the full story of this incident? Why was there a rivalry between USA and Japan? What is the situation there in 2022? Watch this video to find out as Dhruv Rathee explains the full story of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki incident.

00:00Hello friends, the 6th of August 1945, it was summer season in Hiroshima city of Japan.
00:06It was a beautiful day. There was blue sky, good sunshine and it was Monday morning.
00:12Around 8 o'clock in the morning, people had just reached their office to work.
00:16Small children had reached school and the first period of school was about to start.
00:21Meanwhile, some people see an American Boeing B-29 plane passing in the sky.
00:26At exactly 8.15, something falls down from this airplane.
00:31From a distance, people could not see so clearly whether this small thing is falling down from this airplane.
00:37They would not have thought even in their dreams that it was an atomic bomb.
00:41It keeps falling down for 43 seconds, exactly 43 seconds and after that everything ends in a blink of an eye.
00:50Thousands of people present in the city see a very bright light flashing in the last moment of their life.
00:56Due to the bomb explosion, a fireball is instantly formed.
01:00As if a small sun has been formed.
01:03The temperature on the ground reaches 4,000 degrees Celsius.
01:0780,000 people die in a jiffy.
01:10Hearing this, the biggest question will arise in your mind.
01:13Why? Why was this bomb dropped?
01:16What was the reason behind it?
01:17Friends, let us understand in today's video the story of the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
01:23Spurious man, new age born in the roll of thunder and the fire of the Sunday 8.15 in the morning August 6.
01:41The first atomic bomb struck in this instant Robert Passage secret book of the Hindu.
01:46Now I am become the destroyer.
01:47Our story begins with a second world war.
01:51This war began in the year 1939 when Hitler invaded Poland and one by one.
02:06Many other countries were pushed into this war.
02:09World War II was being fought between two big alliances.
02:12On one side were Nazi, Germany, Italy and Japan which are called Axis powers and on the other side were Great Britain, Soviet Union and USA.
02:21They are called Allied powers or alliance.
02:24Countries like France and China were also a part of the alliance.
02:27But initially, America was trying its best not to become a part of this war.
02:31After the bad experience of the first world war, America had decided that whatever happens in Europe and Asia, I do not want to interfere.
02:38I have to keep my hands off.
02:40But in the year 1941, when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, the US was also forced to get involved in this war.
02:50But since the unprovoked attack by Japan on Sunday, a state of war has existed between the United States and the Japanese Empire.
03:01Here it is very important to understand things from the context of Japan.
03:04Because whenever World War II is talked about, we often focus the most on Germany and Hitler.
03:09We do not talk much about Japan.
03:11What is the real matter?
03:12Imperialism was also seen in Japan in the early 1900s.
03:15Just like Britain, France and many other European countries were occupying other countries and colonizing them.
03:22Japan was also doing the same thing.
03:24Just like India was a part of the British Empire, by 1940, Indonesia, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, many eastern areas of China, North Korea, South Korea, all these countries were occupied by the Japanese Empire.
03:41These Japanese colonizers used to talk about greater Asia that we will create an Asia which is united.
03:47But all this was just talk.
03:48In reality, like other colonizers, they occupied land to exploit resources so that they can get profit for themselves.
03:57Their first major expansion was in the year 1931.
04:00There was an area in northern China called Manchuria.
04:03They occupied it.
04:04They had a plan in the north.
04:05From there, going forward, they will occupy some areas of the Soviet Union in the country of Mongolia.
04:10Their plan in the south was to capture the areas of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.
04:15What was the matter in the south?
04:16These countries of today's Vietnam and Cambodia were actually a part of the French Empire at that time.
04:22They were called French Indochina.
04:24So if Japan wanted to capture them, they had to first defeat the French Empire here.
04:29This is what happened in the year 1940.
04:31They waged war against France and captured these areas.
04:35But by doing this, Japan now became a participant in World War II.
04:39America saw that on one side there is Hitler who is waging war against one country after another in Europe.
04:44They are being captured.
04:45On the other hand, there is Japan in Asia which is doing the same thing.
04:49We do not want to interfere in the war here by using our military, but something will have to be done to stop them here.
04:56Why not take some action economically?
04:58So America actually has copper, iron and steel as major essential resources.
05:03America stops exporting these to Japan.
05:05Bans it.
05:06The hope was that seeing this, Japan would stop its expansion and sit quietly.
05:11But this does not happen.
05:12In response, America actually stops selling Japan's oil.
05:16In those days, oil was actually a very important resource for the Japanese people and 80% of the oil that came to Japan came from America.
05:24America said that we will start giving oil to you again on one condition that you first leave the areas of China that you have occupied and break your alliance with Germany and Italy.
05:35But doing this meant that the Japanese empire would have to give up their dreams of creating a greater Asia.
05:44So they thought in their mind, America, you go to the flood.
05:47We will adopt some other way.
05:49They saw that in these areas of Malaysia and Indonesia, oil and other resources are available in good quantity.
05:54Why not occupy these areas and extract our own oil?
05:58Then there would be no need to be dependent on America.
06:00But there was just one problem.
06:01Indonesia was Dutch East Indies at that time.
06:04So it was under the control of the Dutch and Malaysia was British Malay at that time.
06:07It was under the control of the British.
06:09Both the British and the Dutch were allies of America.
06:11If these countries were also attacked, it would mean that America could attack us because America's friends are being attacked here.
06:19It is good that America may not attack us but after that when we go to occupy the country of Philippines which was actually America's territory at that time.
06:28America had occupied the Philippines, colonized it, then America will definitely attack us back because we would be snatching America's territory again.
06:36And how can the dream of greater Asia be fulfilled without the Philippines?
06:40So now only one option is left with us.
06:42We will occupy and colonize all these areas.
06:45But in case America attacks us, we will have to silence them first.
06:49America is more powerful than us.
06:51If a long war continues, we will lose.
06:54But what will happen if we secretly attack America's military bases, blow up all their fighter planes, all their ships?
07:03Then how will they attack us?
07:05With this thought in mind, on the 7th of December 1941, Japan makes a surprise attack on the Pearl Harbor base of USA.
07:13December 7, 1941, overhead.
07:17Riders around the loose without warning circle Pearl Harbor the City of Honey surprise attack.
07:21More than 350 Japanese Navy aircrafts attack, drop bombs and within 2 hours 19 U.S. Navy ships, 118 military aircrafts and more than 2,000 U.S. military personnel are killed.
07:38After a few hours, Japan suddenly captures the Philippines.
07:42But realistically speaking, this was a very stupid thing that Japan did.
07:47Children think that look, I will go and kill them first so that they cannot kill me and then I will go and capture their territory.
07:54And because they have said that they will not interfere in the war, that is why I am safe.
07:59But obviously if you capture the territory of a big country like USA, attack their military base and then expect them to sit quietly, this will not happen.
08:08Obviously, in response to this, America officially declares that now it is also joining the war and America starts a war against Japan.
08:17This was the point when America officially got involved in World War 2.
08:21After this, Britain and China also start a war against Japan.
08:24And seeing this happen, Germany and Italy also declare war against USA after 3 days.
08:30So by the end of 1941, World War 2 was in full swing.
08:35All these big countries had declared war against each other.
08:39After this, without going into much detail of the actual war, Italy surrenders by the year 1943.
08:45On the 30th of April 1945, Hitler commits suicide by shooting himself and after that Germany also surrenders.
08:53So, only Japan is left in the Axis powers which has not surrendered.
08:57Despite continuous losses, the Japanese emperor is not ready to surrender.
09:02At this point, it would be very interesting to go into some details of the Japanese fashion.
09:06What was the actual matter, friends?
09:08The Japanese common people were being brainwashed in a big way.
09:12There was a Maharaja in Japan.
09:15The Japanese emperor was their hero.
09:17At that time people were told that this emperor is a gift from God.
09:21Literally people used to compare him with God.
09:24So whatever he says, believe it blindly.
09:27If you don't, then you are against our country.
09:29If our Japanese emperor has said that we will go to these countries and occupy them,
09:35we will colonize them, we will do it for their good, then he is right.
09:38We are going to war.
09:40We are going to war for a good purpose.
09:42Whoever opposed the war in Japan was actually hunted down and killed.
09:47Apart from this, some Japanese culture and traditions were modified in a very dirty way to manipulate people.
09:54For example, their Bushido samurai tradition.
09:56According to this Bushido tradition, samurais should always be aware of death.
10:02They should not see it as the end and should not be so afraid of death.
10:06But what did they tell people by modifying this tradition?
10:09They said that a samurai is one who is ready to give his life for the emperor.
10:14One who understands that giving his life for the emperor is the greatest honor for him
10:17and surrendering in front of the enemies is a matter of disgrace for him.
10:21If people are brainwashed in this way, they will be ready to sacrifice their lives.
10:26And this is what happened, friend.
10:27Japanese people were brainwashed to carry out organized suicide attacks.
10:31A special military unit was formed in the air force which was called Kami-Kaz.
10:35These were the pilots whose purpose was to sit in their fighter jets
10:41and crash the fighter jet into the enemy's warships and sacrifice themselves.
10:47In simple words, suicide bombing.
10:50Not only this, children were trained to carry an explosive with them
10:54and lie down in front of the tank so that they could sacrifice their lives and also blow up the tank.
10:59Can you imagine the extent to which people were brainwashed there?
11:04Obviously not everyone was brainwashed.
11:08There are some very painful stories of Kami-Kaz pilots
11:11that how they used to cry the whole night before their mission
11:14and write letters to their families and question themselves
11:17whether what they are going to do is really good.
11:21For their country, for themselves,
11:23America and other ally countries were hoping that unemployment has increased so much in Japan due to the war.
11:29People do not have food to eat.
11:31There is a lot of hunger.
11:32Maybe the common people of Japan will now stand up against their pilots
11:36and under that pressure the pilots will surrender.
11:38But this never happened due to these reasons.
11:41America saw that now only one way is left.
11:43Full-scale invasion of Japan should be done.
11:46Meaning send its military and on the ground there they go and overthrow the Japanese pilots.
11:51That is why America plans Operation Downfall.
11:54The last big battle fought between America and Japan is the Battle of Okinawa.
11:59Between the 1st of April 1945 and the 2nd of June 1945.
12:03If you look at the map, there is an island called Okinawa quite south of Japan.
12:07America sends its military to go on the ground and physically occupy this island
12:12and remove any obstacle that comes in between.
12:15After this we will launch our full-scale Operation Downfall.
12:18But this Battle of Okinawa surprises America.
12:21The Japanese people were not ready to accept defeat.
12:24Every person was ready to fight till his last breath.
12:27Even the last person left alone started fighting till the end.
12:31Continuous kamikaze attacks were seen.
12:33Suicide bombs one after the other.
12:35There was no question of surrender.
12:37This meant that it was very difficult for the American forces to defeat the Japanese forces.
12:42This is why the Battle of Okinawa is called the bloodiest battle that took place in the Pacific.
12:47Eventually America won this battle.
12:49But its price was very heavy.
12:5112,000 American soldiers were killed.
12:54More than 500 were injured.
12:55On the other hand, 1,10,000 Japanese soldiers were killed.
12:59The people living on Okinawa Island are called Okinawans.
13:03More than 1,000 Okinawans were killed in this one battle.
13:07This meant one quarter of the population of the entire island.
13:1025% people lost their lives on the entire island.
13:13Hearing these statistics, the military heads of America thought that our operation downfall would not work in this way.
13:21That means maybe if we send our entire army there, it will work.
13:25We will win.
13:26But at what cost?
13:2712,000 people of our army were killed in this small island itself.
13:32If we try to capture the rest of the islands of Japan, if we try to defeat them on the ground in this way,
13:38then how many more of our people will be killed?
13:40On top of that, how many of their people will also be killed?
13:43It would be unimaginable to think that this war would drag on for so many years
13:47because the Japanese public has been so brainwashed that they are not ready to surrender.
13:53America and the U.S. thought that some other method would have to be adopted to make Japan surrender.
13:58The 12th of April 1945 U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt,
14:03who had been the U.S. President for many times,
14:06passes away during the entire World War II and Vice President Harry Truman becomes the new President of America.
14:12The entire responsibility of finding a solution to this war with Japan is now on his shoulders.
14:18Different options are considered here.
14:20If we try to negotiate with Japanese Emperor Hirohido,
14:24that thing may work but they think it will not work because the Emperor will not surrender under any circumstances.
14:30He has already made this thing clear.
14:33At the same time, they come to know about a top-secret U.S. military project.
14:38The Manhattan Project, where many scientists start working secretly to make the world's first atomic bomb.
14:45On July 16, 1945, this atomic bomb is tested at a bombing range in New Mexico
14:51and the test turns out to be successful.
14:54True man feels that he has found his solution.
15:01He discusses with other top military officials and government heads how the bomb will be dropped.
15:06They decide that one last warning should be given to Japan before dropping it.
15:11On July 26, 1945, post-DAM declaration, the President of the U.S., the President of China,
15:18the Prime Minister of Great Britain come together and demand unconditional surrender from Japan.
15:23They warn that if Japan does not surrender, the result will be complete destruction.
15:29Complete destruction.
15:31Without specifying what exactly they mean by destruction,
15:34the Japanese people had never even imagined that there was a weapon like the atom bomb.
15:39It still exists in the world.
15:40By this point of time in July 1945,
15:43it is said that the anti-war sentiments among the general public in Japan had increased a lot.
15:49People were getting disturbed by this constant fighting.
15:52They were dying of hunger.
15:53There was a lack of jobs, the economic condition was bad.
15:56But they could not stand up and fight against their own military and the Emperor.
16:00Unless the military supported them.
16:02The Japanese emperors actually agreed to surrender when they were told that they could maintain
16:08their power and some occupied territories should actually be allowed to remain under them.
16:13But America wanted an unconditional surrender.
16:16So on the 29th of July 1945, Japan rejected this sports dam declaration.
16:22After this, on the 3rd of August, U.S. President Harry Truman authorized that the atomic bomb would
16:28be dropped on Japan.
16:30The 6th of August 1945 Boeing B-29 plane passes over Hiroshima City.
16:36Little boy atom bomb is kept in this plane.
16:38It is a very ironic name for the world's first atomic bomb which was used in warfare.
16:45A small child 815 this bomb is dropped on Hiroshima and America becomes the first and only country
16:51in the history of the world to use nuclear weapons.
16:56The people who were present in Hiroshima that day and survived this bomb blast.
17:01They tell a very painful story.
17:03They say that first they saw such a bright light that many people became temporarily blind.
17:10Immediately after that a terrible sound was heard which was so loud that many survivors
17:15suffered permanent hearing loss.
17:16Then the temperature of 4000 degrees Celsius on the ground instantly vaporized the people
17:22who were present there.
17:23This thing happened so quickly that in a way the shadows of the people remained there on
17:27the ground.
17:29That black shadow remained permanently embedded in the rocks, which we can see till today.
17:34Those who were not killed instantly could not understand what actually happened here.
17:39Before they could understand, the shock waves exploded.
17:43Due to temperature changes, the wind started blowing so fast that it almost became a
17:46hurricane.
17:47Then the broken pieces of houses, debris and glass pieces, everything started flying in
17:52the air.
17:52After a few minutes, when the winds calmed down, people looked at the sky and saw only black
17:57toxic dust.
17:59It was unbelievable that just 15 minutes ago, the golden blue sky was visible.
18:05The sun was out and now suddenly everything was filled with black toxic fumes.
18:1070% of the buildings in Hiroshima were completely destroyed.
18:13The city was no longer a city.
18:15See these satellite images before the bomb and after the bomb fell.
18:20What happened to the bodies of the remaining survivors?
18:23I will not go into much detail about this because there are very disgusting and disturbing
18:27details.
18:28I will just say that people's skin started peeling off.
18:31People were thirsty.
18:32About half an hour after the blast, it started raining.
18:35The thirsty people thought that there was good news here.
18:37But actually the toxic dust in the air mixed with moisture and clouds formed.
18:43This was not a normal rain.
18:45Every drop of rain was black in color.
18:47Grease was dripping from the sky and it was very poisonous.
18:51Usually whenever there is a disaster, ambulances reach a city.
18:55Doctors reach to help people.
18:56But here 90% of the healthcare workers actually died in the bomb blast.
19:01So many hospitals were destroyed.
19:03So who would help the people?
19:06Many of those who did not die instantly actually died after a few days or months due to radiation
19:11sickness.
19:12I have discussed this in detail in the Chernobyl video.
19:16You can go and watch it if you want to understand in more detail.
19:19After this bomb blast, it is said that the fanatics of the Japanese military refused to
19:24even meet.
19:25They did not even hold a meeting.
19:26They said what big thing has happened?
19:28Just another bomb has fallen.
19:29It is a slightly bigger bomb.
19:30There is no question of surrender.
19:32The Japanese emperor still refused to surrender.
19:35In response to this, three days later on the 9th of August 1945, America drops another
19:41atom bomb.
19:42This time on Nagasaki.
19:50At around 11 o'clock in the morning, another Boeing B-29 plane goes.
19:54This time it was an even more powerful bomb.
19:56Its name was Fat Man.
19:58The mushroom cloud that forms in the sky due to this bomb blast becomes even bigger.
20:03Immediately 4,000 people are killed and 6.7 square kilometer city gets destroyed.
20:09Although the atom bomb dropped on Nagasaki was even more powerful, but this time there were
20:14fewer casualties.
20:16There are many reasons behind this.
20:17Firstly, when the news of Hiroshima spread to other cities, people had already received
20:22pamphlets that something like this could happen in your city too, so be careful and people were
20:27better prepared.
20:28People had moved to the outskirts away from the city center.
20:31Apart from this, there were hills around the city this time.
20:34Due to the hills, the impact of the explosion was less.
20:39Hiroshima was flat.
20:40There were no hills, no hills.
20:42So more impact was seen there.
20:43In total, two lakh people died in these two bombings.
20:4795% of the people were actually civilians.
20:51They were common people and not military people.
20:54After this, finally the Japanese Supreme Council meets to discuss the surrender.
20:58Some people are finally afraid that if we do not surrender, America will drop bombs on
21:04all our cities one by one.
21:06But many people sitting in the council are still completely against surrender.
21:10When voting is done inside the council regarding surrender, the result of the voting comes out
21:14to be 3-3.
21:15Three people are in its favor.
21:16Three people are against it.
21:17Now what should be done?
21:18To break this tiebreaker, the Japanese emperor is asked what is his opinion.
21:24And finally their emperor agrees to surrender.
21:26These atomic bombs were not the only reason behind surrender.
21:31What was the real matter?
21:32Just a few hours before the bomb was dropped on Nagasaki, the Soviet Union had also attacked
21:37Japan.
21:38The area of Manchuria in North China, which I had talked about earlier in the video,
21:42Japan had occupied it.
21:44The Soviet Union attacks here and occupies this area.
21:49So on one side USA was dropping bombs on their cities and on the other side Soviet Union was
21:54attacking them.
21:54On top of that, people were getting angry in their occupied territories in Japan and Southeast
22:00Asia.
22:01These were the reasons why Emperor Hirohito finally decides to surrender.
22:07The time is 9 to 5 a.m.
22:10Japanese have been on board for exactly 10 minutes.
22:13Some military people in Japan were very angry with this.
22:18They did not want this surrender to happen at all.
22:21So an attempt is made to stage a coup against emperor.
22:24But this coup remains unsuccessful.
22:26And on the 15th of August 1945, after this surrender, the Second World War finally ends.
22:33After this, LA occupies Japan for about 7 years.
22:36Their occupation continues till 1952.
22:40During this, discussions are held about what will be the conditions of surrender here.
22:44A new constitution is brought in Japan.
22:47Democracy is established and the status of the emperor continues in Japan but he is made just a
22:52figurehead.
22:54Meaning, even today, there is an emperor in Japan but he is only there for namesake.
22:58He has no power.
22:59The cost of total destruction in Hiroshima and Nagasaki is 970 million US dollars.
23:06But their rebuilding and restoration starts almost immediately.
23:10Volunteers from different cities come to rebuild the cities.
23:15This is another story of how these cities are restored in such a wonderful way that if you go
23:19there today, you will not even know that nuclear bombs were ever dropped on these cities.
23:23The lives of the people who were affected by radiation obviously change forever.
23:29They remain disabled.
23:31Disabilities are seen in their children.
23:33The chances of getting cancer increase.
23:36But thankfully the good news here is that the radiation levels are not that harmful in the long term.
23:42At least not as harmful as in Chernobyl.
23:45After some time a typhoon hits the city and after that typhoon the radiation levels drop down significantly.
23:51Another reason behind this is that a nuclear bomb works very differently from a nuclear power plant.
23:56I also talked about this in the Chernobyl video.
24:00But the biggest question that arises here is whether dropping this atomic bomb and killing
24:04two lakh people was justified from the USA's perspective?
24:08Was this decision of the US president right or wrong?
24:12Today it is not as easy to answer the morality of this question as you think.
24:15American President Harry truly never apologized for these bombings.
24:21Neither did he ever show any regret.
24:23I thought I thought it could be used and made a blessing.
24:27I never was about this being done by the war and it is what I was.
24:32Because he and many US diplomats and military people believed that the bombings we did were
24:37necessary and we had no other option.
24:40Their argument is that America had only two options left to end the war.
24:44The first was Operation Downfall and the second was to drop these nuclear bombs.
24:48The original plan of most military officials was that Operation Downfall would be done here.
24:53But then the Battle of Okinawa happened and it became known how many people are being killed in
24:57this battle.
24:58The Japanese people are not at all ready to surrender.
25:01They are ready to fight till their last man.
25:04After that battle, America estimated that it will take at least 10 years and 1 million US soldiers will be
25:10killed if we keep trying to fight the Japanese army on the ground in this way.
25:15From their perspective, they say that 2 lakh people were killed by the atom bomb.
25:192 lakh people is not less but 2 lakh people is less than 1 million US soldiers.
25:25And as far as radiation is concerned, their argument is that they did not know that the
25:29long-lasting effects of the nuclear bomb will be seen.
25:32Even later people will get diseases due to this.
25:35Even later people will get symptoms of radiation sickness.
25:38The scientists of the Manhattan Project knew how much radiation would be released.
25:43But they did not know what effect it actually has on the human body.
25:48Never before had such detailed tests been done.
25:50So America's argument here was simply whether 2 lakh people should die or 1 million people should die.
25:56We chose 2 lakh people.
25:58But many critics argue that actually America had other options.
26:03First of all, it is said that if the aim was to make the Japanese military surrender,
26:08then why did they drop bombs at a place where 95% civilians were killed?
26:12The general public was killed.
26:13Bombs could have been dropped on any Japanese island where there were only military facilities.
26:18And then they would have seen that this can happen to us and then they might have surrendered.
26:22But the counter argument of the US military is that the Japanese leadership was so brainwashed that
26:28it would not surrender under any circumstances.
26:30If they did not surrender after Hiroshima,
26:32then why would they surrender if a nuclear bomb was dropped on a small island?
26:36Experts also say that actually the US could not test out many nuclear bombs at different places
26:42because they had only 2 bombs readily available and 2 were being prepared.
26:47So they had to choose such a place from where the military would feel that it would actually yield some result.
26:52The second argument that is put forward against dropping the bomb is that actually,
26:56the Soviet Union had invited Japan a few hours before the bomb was dropped on Nagasaki.
27:02And Japan would have surrendered anyway when it saw that here on one side there is USA
27:06and on the other side Soviet Union started attacking.
27:09So at least, the bomb that was dropped on Nagasaki, the second atom bomb that was dropped,
27:13was absolutely pointless.
27:15There was no need to drop it.
27:16America just had to wait for some time.
27:19Some experts also argue that dropping the atom bomb was not the real reason behind Japan's surrender.
27:24The real reason was the invitation of the Soviet Union.
27:27After this, a third and final argument that is raised here is a moral dilemma.
27:32The question is that who gave the US president the right to choose whether these 2 lakh people
27:37will be killed here or potentially 1 million US soldiers will be killed there.
27:41It is very easy to take a decision sitting miles away in your office that obviously we choose this
27:48decision because fewer people will die here.
27:50But would he have taken the same decision if his own family was present in Hiroshima or Nagasaki?
27:56Would he still say that I will drop the bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki?
27:59Even if my family is present there, only 2 lakh people will die here.
28:031 million lives are being saved there.
28:05There is a US psychologist who says that to avoid this dilemma, there should actually be a volunteer.
28:11The person who has the nuclear codes.
28:14When the US president feels that I have to use the nuclear bomb on someone,
28:18then that volunteer will come in front of him and that US president will have to
28:22murder that one person with his own hands to remove the nuclear codes.
28:26Because politicians often give this argument that look, only 1 person is being killed here,
28:31so many people will be killed there, that is why it is necessary to do this.
28:34So if a US president feels that it is necessary to drop a nuclear bomb so that more lives can be saved,
28:40then why should he not pick up a knife himself and kill a person there because
28:44what is the sacrifice of that 1 person if the lives of 1 lakh people can be saved there?
28:49These are a lot of things to think about.
28:51This thing has been shown very well in a film.
28:54There is a Hollywood film of 2015 called Eye in the Sky.
28:57It depicts this moral dilemma very well.
29:00What is your opinion here friends?
29:02What do you think after listening to the whole story?
29:04Was it justified from America's perspective to drop the atom bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki?
29:09Was it a right decision or a wrong decision?
29:11Write and tell us in the comments below.
29:13This is a big debate even today.
29:15A survey was conducted in the year 1991.
29:18When the same thing was asked to Americans, 63% Americans believe that these bombings are justified.
29:23But when the same question was asked to Japanese people, only 29% of them believe that dropping the bomb was justified.
29:30But still you can see that this number is not 0% in Japan and this number is not 100% in America.
29:35Because this question is not so easy.
29:38One good thing is that the world was able to learn a lesson after this incident that we should not use nuclear bombs.
29:44Such a dangerous impact is seen from them.
29:47No country would want any people to have to endure all this and thankfully,
29:52till date no other country has used nuclear bombs since then.
29:57Hopefully this thing will continue like this in the future as well.
