Vers la fin des années 1890, Jeff Webster et son associé convoient un troupeau de bovins dans la région de Seattle. A la suite d'une altercation avec une bande de voleurs, l'associé de Jeff est tué. Puis Jeff est accusé d'avoir assassiné deux hommes. La belle Ronda Castle lui sauve la mise en le cachant. Jeff peut ainsi embarquer sur un bateau en partance pour l'Alaska. Le débarquement ne se fait pas sans dommages. Une fois encore, Jeff doit son salut à Ronda. A Dawson, au Canada, Jeff vend son troupeau. Il tente ensuite de s'acheter une concession aurifère, mais ses ambitions se heurtent aux intérêts d'un potentat local...
