00:11Abstract expressionist painter John Schuller achieved a measure of success in
00:15the New York art world in the 1950s, but he felt compelled to move to an
00:20isolated fishing village on the coast of Scotland. I'm very pleased to welcome his
00:25widow Magda Salveson to New York and Company here on WNYC. What he was doing
00:31with the paint, the movements, the wrist would get turned and out. We would be
00:37pushing and pulling and manipulating the paint.
00:46There's a kind of sort of romantic haze over the earlier times when it was so
00:53much easier.
