00:00You
00:04Yes, Mel C
00:11Hi pleasure meeting you please take a seat
00:18So it's the rock and roll business we always have to you have to give you this
00:23We always have to scream
00:27So you have a lot of fans in Baden-Baden and you have one very very big fan is
00:34One of the artists that played here. It's a Claire Maguire. Do you know her? Oh, I do. I love her. She's fantastic
00:40You really do? Yeah, I did a show in London. We did a show together and
00:46Yeah, I've never seen her perform live before but I've enjoyed her music and then seeing her live was just awesome
00:51She's fantastic. She would be so glad hearing that from you. We send her and tape
00:57Or something like we don't send tapes. That's old school. We send bits and bytes and so this is the message
01:03That she left
01:10It's an emotional show a good show is when one of us starts to cry just
01:15What was so nice
01:19How are you? I'm really well. I'm very happy to be back in Baden-Baden. Yeah, you were in Germany. Yes, I do
01:25It's it's the I don't know that you were you're often in Baden-Baden you're often at
01:29SWR 3
01:30Yeah, I was here. I think about two weeks ago. Yeah, and I've been here many times my first time here was with the Spice Girls, so
01:37I've got great memories
01:39What memories?
01:41Hahahaha
01:42Once I'm not about to mention okay, you know the early days are so much fun
01:46You know we used to do things. You were told not to do and run around
01:51Hotels and do..I'm not going to tell you this you think those memories
01:56I know those memories
01:58Now those days are over those party rock and roll days because you have a little daughter
02:02She didn't age and she is so sweet. She gave me my life. I'm so
02:07Yeah, my little girl, Scarlett.
02:09Yeah, she's Scarlett.
02:10Do you sometimes sing just for her when she's on tour with you?
02:14I sing for Scarlett quite a lot.
02:16We sing a lot at home, and she usually says,
02:18Mummy, stop singing.
02:19No!
02:21She doesn't.
02:21Really?
02:22She keeps my feet on the ground.
02:24Really?
02:25Yeah.
02:25Does she know that you're a pop star?
02:29She knows that mummy sings,
02:31and she actually really likes my new music.
02:34She's been listening to Think About It,
02:36which is the current single,
02:37and she sings along to that.
02:39And she can sing the lyrics also?
02:40Yeah.
02:41So perhaps sometimes you can sing together.
02:43Yeah.
02:44We were singing together in the pool today.
02:46Yeah, great.
02:47Yeah.
02:47Okay.
02:48And how is it being on tour with a child?
02:51Well, this is the first time I've actually brought her with me
02:54because usually you work very long hours,
02:57and there's so much traveling,
02:58but because Baden-Baden is such a great place,
03:00and it's a lovely festival that we're doing here.
03:04There's lots of times to relax and have fun.
03:06So I thought it was perfect.
03:07So this is the first time, so it's wonderful.
03:10And then Baden-Baden,
03:11so it's the perfect start for her, isn't it?
03:13Yeah.
03:13Because Baden-Baden is a city of very young people.
03:16It fits very, very good.
03:18So I've heard, yes.
03:19Yes.
03:20The Sea is the name.
03:21The Sea, that's mea of the album.
03:24Why The Sea?
03:24Is there a special relationship?
03:26I was working on the south coast of England
03:28when I was writing some of the album,
03:30and each day I'd walk along the seafront.
03:33And I just felt that The Sea said everything
03:36that I wanted the album to be.
03:37It's very powerful, unpredictable,
03:40a real force of nature.
03:41And that's how I wanted the album to be,
03:43and I believe that's how it's turned out.
03:46And is it true that you recorded some stuff with your,
03:49I can say the name with your iPhone
03:52when I say Samsung and Nokia, too.
03:54So with your iPhone, Samsung, Nokia?
03:56Well, when we,
03:57if anybody's seen the album on the front cover,
03:59I'm standing on a rock in the sea,
04:01and that's on the north coast,
04:02on the northeast coast of the UK.
04:05And yeah, as the sea was coming in,
04:07the tide was coming in,
04:08we taped.
04:10I'm saying taped.
04:11We didn't tape it, did we?
04:13Yeah, just record.
04:13We recorded it an MP3 of The Sea.
04:16And actually, there's a track on the album
04:18called The Sea,
04:20and you hear the waves,
04:21and it's the actual waves from The Sea
04:23on the front cover of the album.
04:26Whoa!
04:26That's cool, isn't it?
04:27Okay, that's really cool.
04:28And it's personal.
04:29Yeah.
04:29That's very nice.
04:30Well, it's so nice to have you here,
04:32and you promised us to play a bit for us.
04:34Yeah, I'm going to do two songs for you.
04:36Which one?
04:37I'm going to do Think About It,
04:38which is the current single,
04:39and another favorite of mine from the album called Week.
04:42Okay, we're looking forward to it.
04:44And I have to make another gag,
04:45which I always wanted to do when we meet with you.
04:46Mel C,
04:48and now that we know each other,
04:49we can also say you.
04:50Mel, you.
04:54He needs a bit,
04:55but I think he's great.
04:56It really was an honor having you here in the show.
04:58I'll ask my German friends what you just said.
05:00Yeah, no, it's not.
05:01You cannot translate that joke,
05:03and it's a very bad joke,
05:04but I love it,
05:05and you know,
05:06I got rich with bad jokes,
05:07so no, it's not true.
05:10The part with the bad jokes is true,
05:12the rest not.
05:13So we're really looking forward to hearing you live,
05:15and if you want to,
05:16I do the announcement,
05:17and you can also do the announcement
05:19for your musicians.
