00:19Esto me dijo.
01:21So, Open Society Foundations believes that if we can have people-centered government policies
01:28that promote jobs, education, health, and the welfare of people,
01:33really the bienestar, so that people actually can benefit from their government,
01:39that's the kind of society we want.
01:41And we see efforts across Mexico.
01:43So, for instance, with the Ministry of Environment, we are working around circular economy
01:51and trying to help in Hidalgo to build a park where waste is renewed and restored
02:00and you can actually begin to have environmentally sound policies.
02:07And within that, also, making sure that indigenous people, Afro-descendant people benefit from some of these efforts.
02:16Mexico has a lot of good things, but a lot of problematics.
02:20You just mentioned the security issue.
02:22We just have changes in our justice system.
02:26How does Open Society look at these kind of things or changes that Mexico is facing right now?
02:33So, first of all, every country has issues and challenges, and so Mexico also.
02:38But I think what is encouraging for us is the government of Claudia Scheinbaum is coming with an agenda
02:47that is trying to make a difference, particularly to center their policies around improving people's lives
02:55in very tangible ways around, say, the minimum wage or in terms of putting the leadership of women as a priority, parity in everything.
03:06And so those are the kinds of efforts where there are good things that can be supported
03:09that we move to the positive and that we look for the strengths.
03:13This does not mean that Mexico has no problems and, of course, that it all is well.
03:17No, of course not.
03:19But where we can push towards helping policies that support human rights, equity, justice,
03:27that's the work of Open Society Foundation.
03:29Yes, as a woman president of Open Society Foundation, the first woman president of this organization,
03:37what do you think about what is happening in Mexico?
03:39We have, for the first time in our history, a woman as a president,
03:44but we have a lot of women making many things.
03:46It's very encouraging to see what Mexico has done.
03:49I think Mexico is leading the world in terms of women's leadership.
03:54And so how we can learn from Mexico, this is a place Mexico can teach the world different ways
04:00of ensuring that women are included in politics and in leadership.
04:06And even within that, so, for instance, we are also wanting to work with Clara Bugrada
04:13around utopias and how we center care and how we make sure cities, big cities like Mexico City,
04:20can actually help in poorer neighborhoods to deliver spaces where people can thrive and live with dignity.
04:27And I actually think this kind of leadership, where we see women moving into spaces for the first time in history,
04:34is going to lead to a different outcome for Mexico and for the world.
04:38For more information than just one of the people of the people of the U.S.
04:43And I think the two people of the U.S.
04:45have led to a different place in different spaces to view the world,
04:47because we are not aware of the people of the U.S.
04:48And there's one of the areas of the U.S.
04:48Gracias por ver el video
