A poll during the rounds on social media alleges that only 7% of French citizens trust the country's president, Emmanuel Macron.

The picture of Macron has gained traction on social media and has been shared by a number of users,

Euroverifier decided to investigate this suspiciously low approval rating.

By taking a closer look at the image, the top-right corner displays a logo,

which is the same as Le Figaro's, a French conservative daily newspaper.

Euroverifier checked Le Figaro's publications on X and filed a legitimate post shared by the publication in October 2024.

At the time, a survey commissioned by the newspaper found that Macron's approval rating was 17%.

The number 1 preceding the 7% on Le Figaro's original X post has been erased in order to fool online users.
