00:28This U.S. announcement has come as a shock for the industry.

00:33This 25% plus penalty tariff, we don't know how much they are going to do.

00:38We strongly believe that our government will find a solution for this.

00:44But till such time, the industry is looking forward to have some relief measures.

00:50So that we sustain our profitability or financial viability and we need to definitely prevent

01:02job losses, production stopping, etc.

01:05And our plea to the government is this 11% import duty on cotton has been very significantly

01:12affecting our exports as well as domestic market last 3-4 years.

01:18And already based on our representation, ELS cotton they have exempted.

01:23And the other cotton also we hope shortly they will remove the duty.

01:27But it should be a full removal because the country is going to face continuously cotton

01:33shortage anywhere between 40 to 50 lakh bales per year.

01:38And the cotton farmer is fully protected under the minimum support price, which is almost 10,000

01:45rupees higher than the international price.

01:47So it is not going to affect the farmers and the industry also provides jobs to 35 million

01:56people directly in the cotton value chain.

01:59So that is one important measure they have to undertake.
