A woman officer of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), currently posted in Jammu and Kashmir, has accused the Tamil Nadu police of inaction in a theft case involving her family, breaking down on camera as she recounted the ordeal. The officer, identified as 32-year-old Kalavathi, said the burglary occurred on June 24 at her family's home in Vellore district. In a video now circulating widely on social media, Kalavathi is seen in tears, alleging that valuables set aside for her wedding — including gold jewellery and a silk saree — were stolen, but no timely action was taken by local police.

Responding to the allegations, the Vellore District Police issued a statement rejecting claims of inaction. The police said Kalavathi's father, Kumarasamy, lodged a formal complaint on June 24 and a case was registered subsequently. Police also said fingerprint samples were lifted from the scene and CCTV footage from the vicinity was being examined as part of the probe.
