00:00These players managed to play across the globe before even thinking about playing in their

00:03homeland at the top division. Marco Verratti never played in Serie A. In fact he's one of

00:08the rare breeds of Italian footballers that hasn't just gone straight from Serie B into

00:12Serie A. Of course he moved to PSG and became a legend, making over 400 appearances and being

00:17one of the most iconic players in his position throughout a generation. But still, no appearances

00:21in the Italian top division. And Antoine Griezmann, the French man who moved to Spain with the

00:26German name. He played for academies when he was a kid but only in Spain. He was rejected in France

00:30before making his move to Real Sociedad when he was a teenager. So that's no appearances in Ligue 1

00:35but becoming an icon over in La Liga. Dejan Kulosevski, Swedish maestro, one of the great

00:39players in the Premier League at the moment for Tottenham, however never made a senior appearance

00:43over in Sweden. In fact he moved to Italy when he was just a kid, went to Atalanta before going to

00:48Juventus and of course making his big move over to England. Lionel Messi, we all know the story,

00:53the little boy from Rosario and he left there just aged 13 years old. And despite winning it all,

00:58including the World Cup, he's never actually played in the top division in his homeland.

01:02Paul Pogba's back in football and he's broken the trend for these players who have never touched

01:06their homeland. Completed his transfer to Monaco and he'll play in Ligue 1 next season. Had spells at

01:10Juventus before coming through the academy at Manchester United, he's never actually been in

01:15France in the top level before. But the incredible part about all these players is the sacrifice that

01:19these young players have to make just to be able to make it. And most of them have had to move out

01:23from their homes as just young teenagers.
