00:34The Prime Minister Narendra Modi also went to the hospital to meet the family, express his condolences,
00:42and not just condole with the family, but also express his respect to the departed soul.
00:56Shibu Soran, the founder of the JMM and former Chief Minister of Jharkhand passed away this morning at age 81 after a prolonged illness.
01:10We're showing you visuals on the screen right now of India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the hospital to pay his respect to the deceased.
01:18He met with the family. He paid his respects to the departed soul.
01:24He's also issued a social media post praising Shibu Soran for his work as a tribal leader.
01:46Ashutosh is with me on this story. Ashutosh, the President of India, the Prime Minister of India,
01:53leaders across the political spectrum are paying tribute to Shibu Soran.
01:58Can you tell us a little more about what we're expecting in the next couple of days?
02:02What happened in the last few days as Shibu Soran was hospitalized?
02:08What we're hearing from the JMM leadership that funeral will be done in Jharkhand on Tuesday,
02:15but this was the day for the political parties, the leaders across the political spectrum,
02:21those who knew him personally, and those who only knew about his contribution for the tribals that he worked for,
02:26a social revolution, the kind of work that he did in Jharkhand, political revolution, social changes that he made.
02:33That's exactly what Prime Minister, when offering condolences, wrote on social media that how Shibu Soran was a grassroot leader
02:39and who rose through the ranks of public life with unwavering dedication to the people.
02:43He was particularly passionate about empowering tribal communities.
02:46So regardless of the political ideology or the political party or the position that you hold,
02:51everyone acknowledges that how passionate he was for empowering the tribal communities.
02:55And that's exactly what the JMM, the idea of forming JMM for Shibu Soran.
03:00He worked for the poor, and that's exactly not, you can see all the leadership,
03:05everyone has expressed the condolences, they were all pained by his passing away.
03:08And for one month he was suffering from a very prolonged disease on ventilator,
03:13and 8.30 it was his last breath.
03:15The Prime Minister also offered condolences.
03:18He said when he fought with his family and admirers.
03:21He also, early morning, right after the demise of Shibu Soran,
03:25Prime Minister was the first to call Hemans Soran and express the condolences.
03:29And then we saw, later in the morning, a political leader, a member of parliament,
03:34and different other, you know, the known one, the Shibu Soran's close one,
03:37they started visiting the hospital.
03:39And then we saw President Droghiz Mu also in condolence going all the way to RML.
03:45She met Shibu Soran.
03:47And this is the time when we see, when the ideology is having no bar,
03:51when it comes to offering the tribute and condolence to such a tall, stalwart leader like Shibu Soran,
03:57then we do not see really some political differences or ideological differences,
04:01because the kind of role that he played as a politician and also a social worker in Jharkhand,
04:06even after the bifurcation of Bihar and Jharkhand,
04:09the several challenges that the state had, particularly for the tribals in that area.
04:14That will always be a history.
04:16And he also gave a political legacy to Hemans Soran that he is carrying out
04:21as a chief minister of Jharkhand, you know, heading the party like GMM.
04:26The political legacy, his ideological legacy, the work that he,
04:31for the tribals and for the state of Jharkhand,
04:34that will always be part of a golden history.
04:37And that's why we see all the politicians,
04:40the constitutional powers, dignitaries, constitutional force holders,
04:43everyone is just offering their condolences.
04:46It's a painful day for all of them as they recognize the great work by Shibu Soran in Jharkhand.
04:51Well, Ashutosh, let's also talk about the legacy that Shibu Soran leaves behind.
04:57He's a six-time Lok Sabha MP.
04:59He was the tall tribal leader who is responsible for the creation of Jharkhand.
05:06He had a role to play in the creation of Jharkhand as a separate state.
05:09The Jharkhand Mukhti Murcha has been talking about tribal development of the state.
05:18Let's just talk about his legacy, Ashutosh.
05:22What are people saying about what Shibu Soran has left behind?
05:26Particularly, you know, he was called a Dishoam Guru.
05:31Shibu Soran was now meant Guruji, Dishoam Guru.
05:35And his greatest contribution was not only in the politics of Jharkhand,
05:39but also the Adivati Andol and the movement that it carried out.
05:42And it was a social awareness.
05:44And you rightly mentioned that he was one leading from the front,
05:48demanding a separate state of Jharkhand.
05:50And even then, we see the bifurcation that happened from Bihar to Jharkhand
05:54and then Uttar Pradesh to Uttarakhand.
05:56The bifurcation was extremely peaceful.
05:59There wasn't such much that addiction or any uproar after that.
06:02And from 1970, we have seen early 1970, Shibu Soran,
06:06when he formed Jharkhand Mukhti Murcha,
06:09his movement was all around tribals, farmers, laborers, poor workers.
06:13And he was since leading on the front, 15 November.
06:16I remember the day, 15 November, 2000, it was when Jharkhand was formed.
06:21So there was a separate state formation.
06:24He always battled and stood to protect the rights of the tribals, for the poor.
06:29If you recall, from this colonial legacy, the rule,
06:36that he always stood for that land.
06:39Well, yes, as Ashutosh was saying, Shibu Soran is lauded across the board as a towering tribal leader.
06:54He was working for the development of Jharkhand, for the development of Adivasis.
06:58For decades, he had been leading the Adivasi movement in Jharkhand.
07:05In fact, one of the tributes that has come for him says that for the people of Jharkhand,
07:10he was no less than a god.
07:12Even Lalu Prasad, who had opposed the creation of Jharkhand state,
07:16but later was an ally of the JMM, has called him a great leader,
07:20who fought for the rights of tribal people and Dalits.
