00:00Ivor the engine. There he is, standing in the snow by the level crossing.
00:15Well, at least it's stopped snowing now, and Jones the steam can wipe some of the grime off Ivor's boiler.
00:20Hi there, Mr Jones. That's a dirty old engine you've got there.
00:24Oh, Major Llewellyn, is that your new fire engine?
00:27Yes, this is it. Rather good, what? Eight cylinders, 400 horsepower turbine impellers, auxiliary hand pump set, the lot.
00:37Oh, yes, very good. Will it go through snow?
00:40Go through anything. It's an absolutely marvellous appliance.
00:44Can you make a pot of tea from the boiler?
00:47Well, of course not. It's a fire engine, not a tea soap.
00:50Uh, excuse me. Oh, excuse me. I didn't like to interrupt your discussion, like, but, um, I was wondering if you could advise me.
01:00Mr Pew of Tewin Farm just rang through on the telephone. Said his big barn is on fire.
01:06Oh, smoke and flames and that. I was wondering what I ought to do.
01:13Do? Do? Wait, wait, wait, wait. Call the fire brigade, Bubba. Call the fire brigade.
01:18Oh, but, uh, aren't you the fire brigade, Major Llewellyn?
01:23Eh? What? What? Uh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Of course I am. Of course I am.
01:27You know, I rather think I preferred the old bell. It had a bit more dignity somehow.
01:42Tewin Farm's in the other direction. I wonder where he's going.
01:47Oh, he'll have gone to collect the firemen. They'll go over to Tewin by the lower road under the railway bridge.
01:52The snow is very thick down there.
01:54Oh, yes. Oh, well, uh, perhaps Ivor and I had better go and have a look, like.
02:03Don't start any fires now, Mrs. Williams.
02:17Well, there they are. And they are stuck.
02:21Can we give you a hand, Major Llewellyn?
02:22Oh, Mr. Jones, we, uh, we do seem to be in a bit of trouble here.
02:28You did mention something about a hand pump. Ivor could take it up to Tewin Farm on the truck.
02:32Oh, I, uh, I suppose we'll have to.
02:36And so they did. They took the hand pump to Tewin Farm and set it up beside the duck pond, next to Mr. Bew's barn, which was burning merry.
02:44Come along now, men. Put your backs and wait. One, two, one, two, one, two, one, two, one, two, one, two.
02:51Now, even the best hand pump is not really as good as a real fire engine. Not against a fire as big as that.
02:57Oh, I think we'll have to give them a hand, Ivor.
03:02Mr. Pew, have you got a couple of long poles and some rope?
03:06Mr. Pew kept the poles and long rope while Jones jacked up Ivor's wheels.
03:11Jones tied a pole to Ivor's piston rod and joined it to the lever of the hand pump.
03:15Here's an extra hand for you, Major Clewellyn.
03:19Gently now, Ivor.
03:30How about that?
03:33Very good. Very, very good.
03:36Two full-pressure hoses of one again.
03:38That soon did the trick.
03:42The hoses doused the burning barn in a matter of minutes.
03:46The ducks came padding back to see if there was any water left in the duck pond.
03:50Jones made everybody a pot of tea from Ivor's boiler and they sat around to drink it.
03:55Major Clewellyn is a proud man, but very fair.
04:01Ivor, you are a marvel.
04:04You pump better than my brand new fire engine.
04:06You go through snow drifts and you make a lovely cup of tea.
04:10You also put out single-handed what could have been a very dangerous conflagration.
04:17Please accept the thanks of the fire service and this small token of our esteem.
04:23Bravo!
04:25Ivor the engine.
04:27I appoint you honorary senior fire engine to the Flaniog and Tanny Guilk's Fire Brigade.
04:35Ivor the engine.
