00:00Jaipur, the pink city, one of the gemstone capitals of the world.
00:05Color is everywhere here.
00:15The streets of Jaipur are where color really comes to life.
00:20They are a kaleidoscope of colors.
00:30I'm thrilled to explore Jaipur with my friend Lucia Silvestri from Bvlgari.
00:40Together, we're off to explore and discover how she hand-selects the colorful gems that'll make their way into Bvlgari's next collection.
00:51I heard that this is called the Diwane Khas.
01:00It was constructed for private meetings and audiences with the Maharaja at that time.
01:10The city of Jaipur was painted pink in 1876 when India was still colonized by the British.
01:16Even now, the new buildings have to be pink so that the city stays cohesive.
01:21So this is the reason?
01:22Yeah, for why.
01:23And that's why we're in the pink city.
01:31Wow.
01:35That is so beautiful.
01:39Rajasthan is a desert, so obviously it gets really hot here.
01:43So I think this is so clever in terms of his architectural design to give that beautiful cross-ventilation.
01:50You know, when I see this, I can imagine immediately a Cabochon Lucifer.
01:57Yes, so can I.
01:59Yes, surrounded by diamonds and mother pearls, for instance.
02:04So I like to take inspiration from places like this.
02:08I started to come here in 1987 with Mr. Bvlgari.
02:15It was my first trip here.
02:17And you don't know how many things I learned from these people here.
02:21And he loved it.
02:22Oh, he loved it.
02:23We came here so many times together.
02:25Look how beautiful this gate is.
02:38So apparently all four of these gates represent a season.
02:43And this one is winter.
02:45Because roses grow in the winter in India.
02:48I consider the stones the gift of nature.
02:53Of course.
02:54I mean, it blows my mind sometimes that gemstones come from nature.
03:01Even though India is my home, Lucia is the expert here in Jaipur.
03:07I have never been here.
03:09This is the iconic Hawa Mahal in Jaipur.
03:12Thank you, because of you, I get to come and see this incredible place.
03:17I love to see these colors together.
03:20And I immediately imagine gems.
03:23I related the colors that I can see here with gems.
03:29It showcases the rich heritage and the craftsmanship that India stands for.
03:35Jewelry is not just an industry.
03:38It's a culture.
03:39This is the idea of this heritage.
03:40It's a culture of science.
03:42It's a culture of science and the movements of art.
03:43These are the guys who are the experts in understanding the inclusions and giving the first form of the rough.
03:59This is how they've been doing this for a century.
04:04And that's how they were trained a generation over generation.
04:07I remember Lucha telling me one day that, you know, these gems are like humans.
04:21Every human has flaws. You have to accept it.
04:30This is my role, because I start to play with gems, combine colors.
04:35I'm starting to dream, dream about the new collection.
04:42For me, a key word is harmony, between colors, with shape, cut, stones, craftsmanship.
04:51It's one word, harmony.
04:53Colors are not something we wear in India.
05:02Colors are something that exists in the very fabric of our being.
05:07It goes beyond just beauty.
05:10And it's the real marriage between Italian and Indian craftsmanship.
05:15And it makes me so proud to wear it now that I've seen this incredible journey.
05:20Thank you for letting me see how this incredible work happens. I'm so honored.
05:27Thank you, Priyanka. You are the best.
05:29High five years.
05:30Great support.
05:31For me, your mentor Gaeney is here in a pool,
