00:00Steve Whitcoff, the envoy for the U.S. president in the Middle East, visited the hostages'
00:08square in Tel Aviv on Saturday. He met with families of the Israeli hostages held by Hamas
00:13in Gaza to the chants, bring them home now. Scores of protesters had gathered at the square
00:23during Whitcoff's visit, calling on the United States to end the conflict in Gaza and secure
00:29the release of the remaining 50 hostages. The war needs to end. The Israeli government
00:35will not end it willingly. It has refused to do so. The Israeli government must be stopped
00:45for our sakes, for our soldiers' sakes, for our hostages' sakes, for our sons, and for
00:53the future generations of everybody in the Middle East.
00:58Whitcoff also spent five hours in Gaza on Friday, level setting the facts on the ground, regarding
01:04the distribution of aid to Palestinians by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation. He toured the
01:10U.S.-backed aid operation as he said he wanted to assess the situation on the ground in order
01:15to craft a plan to deliver food and medical aid to the people of Gaza. The United Nations
01:21had said more than 1,000 people have been killed trying to receive aid in Gaza since the Gaza
01:27Humanitarian Foundation began operating there in May, most of them shot by Israeli forces
01:33operating near the sites. However, the Foundation said no one had been killed at its distribution
01:39points and that it is doing a better job of protecting aid deliveries than the UN. Gazans
01:45were cautiously optimistic that Whitcoff's visit would improve their situation.
