00:30A threat was made and we didn't think it was appropriate, so I have to be very careful.
00:35So I do that on the basis of safety for our people.
00:38That threat Trump was talking about, a post on social media from the former Russian president
00:45about unleashing Russia's nuclear arsenal.
00:48Trump saying he repositioned the submarines just in case these foolish and inflammatory
00:53statements are more than just that.
00:56Adding, words can often lead to unintended consequences.
01:00The war of words only escalating since Trump took office.
01:05And so has the war in Ukraine.
01:07The war President Trump had said he would end in the first 24 hours of his presidency.
01:13More than six months later, it has only gotten worse.
01:18And President Trump's patience is growing thin, now threatening new sanctions on Russia in the
01:24coming days.
01:25Russia, I think it's disgusting what they're doing.
01:28I think it's disgusting.
01:29The president did not say what kind of nuclear submarines he deployed to the region.
01:34But the U.S. already has nuclear ballistic missile subs circling the globe.
01:40We were aboard the USS Maine in 2022 when the commander of submarine forces told us Russian
01:46subs are always being watched.
01:49We know when there's Russians underway at all times.
01:52We track that very, very closely.
01:54This may all be saber rattling, but it is a very large saber.
01:58nuclear-armed submarines are the most deadly, destructive warships on the planet.
02:04Whit?
02:04Martha Raddatz for us tonight.
02:06Thank you.
