00:55we're shown some unsettling images of torture. However, the final kill is withheld from
00:59us, in favour of the frightening reveal of what Otis did to Bill's corpse.

02:51When Barbara and her brother Johnny drove to visit their father's grave, they had no idea

03:00by a pale man and Johnny's killed. Barbara manages to escape to an abandoned house, unaware
03:04that an even worse fate awaits her. Towards the end, when it seems like she'd survived the
03:20ghoulish attacks, things take a grim turn. Her reanimated brother emerges and drags her right into
03:25a horde of zombies like it's personal. You can't help but feel sorry for Barbara, as she screams in
03:30horror. Knowing that not only is her brother undead, but she's about to join him.

04:04a group of friends head out for a relaxing getaway, only to find themselves trapped in a waking
04:08nightmare.

04:22A mysterious flesh-eating virus is spreading through their camp, and Marcy becomes one of
04:26its victims. With fear closing in, she tries to cling to normalcy, until a chilling moment
04:31reveals she's infected.

04:44As she shaves her legs, the infected skin peels away like wet tissue. Panicked, Marcy runs out,
04:50only to become an infected dog's target. We don't see her being torn apart, but her heart-wrenching
04:56screams and mauled remains say it all. It's a double horror.
05:09Number 16. Bernadette. Candyman.

05:23Oh, you chicken!
05:25Bernadette's only crime was being friends with Helen, and showing up at her apartment at the worst
05:30possible time. Okay, maybe not her only crime. Summoning a murderous urban legend with your bestie?
05:36Not the smartest move, either.
05:37Eventually, Candyman comes for Helen to keep his legend alive. Right in the middle of this,
05:42Bernie rings the door, completely unaware of the danger inside. Helen tries to warn her,
05:46but it's too late.
05:49Helen!
05:51Helen, it's Bernie.
05:56Where did that?
05:57Bernie walks in, and Candyman doesn't go running because someone might call the cops. A new prey has
06:03arrived willingly. The look on Bernie's face says enough about what's coming. With only the sounds
06:08of grunting and ripping, the director captures the incomprehensible agony of her end, without
06:13showing it.
06:22Number 15. Annie, it follows.
06:24It's pretty gutsy to hide violence from bloodthirsty horror fans, but in some cases, the results are even more terrifying.
06:30Hey, are you okay? Yeah. You need some help? No.
06:37After all, out of sight doesn't mean out of mind. It follows introduces horror fans to a sexually
06:43transmitted curse, which makes those afflicted the targets of an invisible entity that chases,
06:48or rather, follows, its prey.
06:58Although initially unidentifiable and unseen, this killer briefly takes on the appearance of random
07:03people and is only visible to its targets, but we are never shown its true form.
07:12The film's opening shows young Annie, who is clearly being terrorised by an off-camera presence,
07:17and suddenly, a jump cut brings us to the traumatising outcome, Annie's mangled body alone on a beach.
07:24I just really love you both.
07:28Number 14. Kate Embry, The Ring.
07:30A film about a killer videotape is going to be shrouded in mystery and riddled with questions.
07:36I've watched it. It's a story, Katie.
07:39No, me and Josh, we saw it last weekend.
07:42I thought you were with your parents.
07:43I wanted to tell you.
07:44You were with Josh all weekend?
07:45Some of his friends got this place up in the mountains.
07:48Although a supernatural story does not require much logical thinking, the characters and audience
07:52alike will be asking, how does one end up dead after viewing this terrifying video?
08:05Look, I quit being a bitch.
08:06Where's the remote?
08:07We get a glimpse of the gaulish Samara and her freakish tricks when she attacks Noah later in the film.
08:18But the first shocking death is what gets us jumping out of our seats.
08:22Although we know it's coming, we are hoping somehow that Katie makes it out alive.
08:26Her twisted face proves otherwise.
08:28Number 13, Lambert. Alien.
08:37Get out of the way, Lambert!

08:44When the Nostromo crew picks up some unwanted cargo, they fall prey to a fierce alien creature that is hungry as hell.
08:51As we watch the Xenomorph pick off the crew one by one, we realize that there's nowhere to run on this spaceship.

09:10A brilliant mix of horror and science fiction, Alien has its fair share of terrifying moments and slasher-style deaths.
09:16In one such scene, poor Lambert becomes paralyzed with fear in front of the alien.

09:29He's gonna kill us!
09:30As Parker swoops in for the rescue.
09:33But it's all for naught, as Parker ends up dead.
09:35In a brilliant moment of cinematic suspense, we hear Lambert screams,
09:39followed by a slow reveal as Ripley discovers her friend's bodies.
09:46They swear to abide by Katie's rules and regulations of camera use
10:00and to not offend this entity or whatever it is in any way, shape or form.

10:09Mika's a downright obnoxious character in Paranormal Activity.
10:12So let me do my thing.
10:13Hey, the camera's a bad idea.
10:15From the start, he dismisses Katie's fear about a demon that's haunted her since childhood.
10:19Instead of taking her seriously, he sets up cameras and treats the whole thing like it's a game.
10:23But pride usually comes before a fall, and his reckless attitude ultimately seals his fate.
10:29In the film's final moments, Mika rushes to help his girlfriend after hearing her screams.
10:33We hear some struggles off-screen, then silence.
10:36Suddenly, Mika's body is hurled at the camera.
10:48To make it even more chilling, it looks like a possessed Katie did it.
10:52Mika's dead, and not knowing how, it makes it even scarier.
10:55However, another Paranormal Activity film confirms that she stabbed him.
10:59This 2019 satire starts off playful and warm, even though it's set during a dark time.
11:12It keeps that tone for a while until Rosie's death changes everything.
11:15Up until that point, Jojo's mother is the heart of the story.
11:18Loving, vibrant, secretly working against the Nazis.
11:21We must celebrate it.
11:23We have to dance to show God we are grateful to be alive.

11:40We already know the fate of those who resist the regime, but nothing prepares us for Rosie's death.
11:45Jojo follows a butterfly into the town square and stops dead.

11:52The camera never shows her face, and that restraint makes it even harder.
12:07It's a devastating moment for us, just as it is for Jojo.
12:11Who knew a comedy could leave us in tears?

12:30Steven Spielberg was knocking it out of the park with thrills for the whole family by the
12:37early 90s, and Jurassic Park had the makings of a classic monster movie thrill ride.
12:41In order to make sure that his mega-budget blockbuster did not receive a rough rating,
12:45much of the violence was hidden off-screen.
12:47Although Mr Arnold's death is completely unseen, and all we're left with is a severed arm,
12:51the scheming Dennis Nedry takes the prize for most chilling off-screen death.

13:07As he tries to run away with the stolen DNA samples, he is attacked by a Dilophosaurus,
13:12and we bear witness to the look of pure terror on his face before the camera pans away from his demise.
13:18The Joker is not the kind of villain that you mess with, because with him, there are no rules, no morals, just pure chaos.
13:43In The Dark Knight, he pulls off one of the most heartbreaking twists in the film.
13:46To sow despair, he sets a cruel trap.
13:49Two locations, two bombs.
13:51One holds Harvey, and the other holds Rachel.
13:53But here's the kicker.

14:40Paul Allen's only crime?
14:43Having a better business card, and maybe landing a reservation at Dorsia.
14:48In Mary Harron's satire, that's more than enough to get him killed.
14:51Patrick Bateman, the polished psycho in a suit, invites Paul over, gets him drunk, and then hacks him to death.
14:57The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost.
15:05What makes the scene so disturbing is what we see and what we don't.
15:09As Paul is murdered, the camera focuses on Bateman's blood-splattered face, grinning like he's having a blast.
15:14Is that a raincoat?
15:16Yes, it is!
15:18We don't see the gore, but the lack of it only intensifies the horror.
15:22Because the real terror lies in Patrick's complete emotional detachment,
15:26and the chilling possibility that, maybe, none of it happened.
15:30Or worse, it did, and no one cares.

15:37Number 7, Georgie Denbrough, It.
15:40Not dying.
15:41You didn't see the vomit coming out of my nose this morning?
15:46That's disgusting.
15:48A paper boat and a stormy day?
15:50That's all it took to send little Georgie to his tragic end.
15:53Chasing his paper boat down the street, he never expects it to slip into the sewer.

16:02Phil's gonna kill me!
16:03Or to find Pennywise, the nightmare in a clown form.

16:08Hiya, Georgie.
16:15What a nice boat.

16:20Um, yes, please.

16:25At first, Pennywise seems harmless, lurking in the shadows and making Georgie laugh.
16:29But that friendly mask fades fast.
16:31In a split second, fangs emerge, Georgie's arm is ripped off, and as he tries to crawl away, he's dragged into darkness.
16:38We don't see what happens next, but his faint cry for Bill makes it unforgettably sad.
16:46Knowing he died alone down there with Pennywise, that's what truly haunts us.
16:51Number 6, Nurse Keating, The Exorcist 3
16:54Amy Keating's death is easily one of the most brilliantly executed jump scares in horror history.
17:18It's all about patience and precision.
17:21Director William Peter Blatty draws the scene out with agonising stillness, a quiet hospital, routine movements, and a wide shot that never blinks.

17:36Oh, my goodness.
17:37We watch Keating go about her business, yet the nothingness feels loaded, like something's coming.
17:43Keating shuts a door, and to our absolute shock, a white-robed figure glides in behind her.
17:54It's so fast, so illogical, it fries your nerves.
17:58The scene cuts hard to a headless Jesus statue, with eerie music that seals the dread.
18:04It's left to the viewers to fill in the horrifying gap, and somehow, that's more effective than showing the actual violence.
18:12She was, uh, slit down the middle.

18:18Number 5, Glenn Lance, A Nightmare on Elm Street.

18:30The world has come to know supernatural serial killer Freddy Krueger as a bit of an over-the-top showman, because his kills are gruesome and often theatrical.

19:52This low-budget indie darling shocked the world with its found footage motif,
19:56while leaving almost all the violence to the viewer's imagination.
19:59As the audience tags along with this film crew threesome,
20:02trudging along the deep Maryland woods making a documentary about the legend of The Blair Witch,
20:06things get real eerie real quick, but always out of view.

20:11The final chase and sudden demise of Heather as they investigate a creepy house

21:03This local fisherman set sail to hunt the beast terrorizing Amity Island,
21:07hoping to bag a reward.
21:08What Ben didn't know?
21:10He was about to become one of the ocean's most gruesome warning signs.
21:13Later, when Matt Hopper dives to examine the wreckage,
21:15the scene goes from tense to horrifying in seconds because of what he finds.
21:25Deep beneath the ocean, Ben's severed head pops into view,
21:29one eye missing and the other frozen in horror.
21:31It's a scream out loud moment that still rattles viewers even today,
21:35just thinking about what Ben must have gone through during his last moments.

21:49At the end of Aliens, Ripley, Hicks, Newt, and the android Bishop are the only survivors.
21:59Honestly, it's a bittersweet ending, as Ripley cradles Newt like her child,
22:03while Hicks is injured but alive.
22:05That's until Alien 3 rips all of that away.
22:08Then EVs come down.
22:11Get down to the beach.

22:16We're told the ship crashed, and both Newt and Hicks died in horrific ways.
22:20No epic battle, no heroic moment, just gone.

22:31Hicks and Newt were like the heart of Aliens,
