Transcript
00:00Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're taking a look at the meet-cutes and last looks we got
00:10at some of TV's most iconic couples. Be warned, as this list does contain spoilers.
00:24Rebecca and Jack Pearson, this is us.
00:30The NBC drama tells multiple stories at once. One follows Jack and Rebecca, the other follows their
00:53children in the present day. Late in the first season, we see their first meeting in a rundown
00:59bar after Rebecca ditches a bad date, and Jack is stood up by another woman. Jack spots Rebecca
01:05singing, and it's love at first sight.
01:17Because the show jumps back and forth over time, their last scene together actually takes place
01:23in the second season after a fire destroys the family home. Their last conversation doesn't feel
01:29like their last. He's seemingly going to recover from his smoke inhalation. However, he passed away
01:35from a heart attack soon after.
01:45You're in front of the TV.
01:54Ryan Atwood and Marissa Cooper, the OC.
01:57Ryan is suddenly thrown into a new world of wealth and respectability when he moves in
02:08with the Coens. He doesn't let his feeling of being out of place stop him from immediately flirting with
02:14the rich girl next door. Sharing a cigarette at the end of their respective driveways, Ryan and Marissa
02:19have an instant chemistry.
02:21My mom threw me out. She pissed off and drunk.
02:26So Mr. Cohen took me in.
02:31You're their cousin from Boston, right?
02:34You're right.
02:36Their love story ends in a fiery car crash. Ryan pulls the love of his life from their overturned car,
02:42only for Marissa to die in his arms. It's a scene that still haunts and enrages viewers to this day.
02:48Hallelujah. Hallelujah.
03:03Kurt Hummel and Blaine Anderson. Glee.
03:05Oh, I stick out like a sore thumb.
03:08Well, next time don't forget your jacket, new kid. You'll fit right in.
03:12Kurt's mission to dig up intel on rival Glee Club, the Dalton Academy Warblers,
03:17thrusts him into the smiling musical world of an all boys private school.
03:21The moment he meets the handsome Blaine Anderson, who takes him by the hand and literally leads Kurt into a musical number,
03:28he's hopelessly in love.
03:30Don't ever look back. Don't ever look back.
03:34I'ma get your heart racing in my skin tight jeans, be your teenage dream tonight.
03:42Let you put your hands on me in my skin tight jeans, be your teenage dream tonight.
03:49As one of Glee's longest running fairytale romances, the show follows through on their happiness.
03:57Four seasons later, the series finale sees the two of them still in love and performing together professionally.
04:03They appear with the rest of the cast in the show's final number after guest speaking at an inclusive elementary school in New York.
04:10Hope when the moment comes, you'll say, I, I did it all.
04:23Chidi Anagonye and Eleanor Shellstrop, the good place.
04:27When Eleanor meets her perfect match in the afterlife, she's immediately convinced that this ethics professor is not the right one for her.
04:34The feeling is apparently mutual.
04:36Somebody royally forked up. Somebody forked up. Why can't I say fork?
04:43If you're trying to curse, you can't hear. I guess a lot of people in this neighborhood don't like it, so it's prohibited.
04:48That's bullshit.
04:49Chidi is the first person Eleanor tells that there's been a mix-up. She hasn't earned her spot in the good place.
04:55I just don't like being dishonest, and I can't advise you to be dishonest either.
05:00Come on, I'm just asking you to fudge a little bit. You must have told a few white lies in your life.
05:05I mean, what was your job?
05:07I was a professor of ethics and moral philosophy.
05:10Motherf*****!
05:11But Chidi's indecision and Eleanor's amorality are what actually make them a perfect match.
05:17Their last moments together before Chidi chooses to end his time in the afterlife
05:22showcase the spiritual growth they've experienced together.
05:26It's a tender goodbye between two people who have made genuine progress as human beings.
05:31I need you to do me one last favor.
05:33Mm-hmm.
05:35Say goodbye to me now.
05:37And leave before I wake up.
05:48Carrie Bradshaw and Mr. Big.
05:50Sex and the city.
05:51And, and just like that.
05:53We'll get in for Christ's sakes.
05:56Carrie is a Manhattan columnist who has a habit of romanticizing her own life.
06:02It's fitting that the first time she sees Mr. Big, it's almost like a fairy tale.
06:06Well, it's like an adult fairy tale.
06:08She's dropped her purse and he chivalrously helps her pick up some of its contents.
06:13Of course, she instantly sizes him up.
06:16Number one.
06:17Here you go.
06:18He's very handsome.
06:19Number two.
06:20He's not wearing a wedding ring.
06:21Number three.
06:22He knows I carry a personal supply of ultra-textured trojans with a reservoir tip.
06:26Thanks a lot.
06:27Anytime.
06:28This is the start of a love story that ends in the show's sequel series.
06:33Carrie comes home to find that Big has had a heart attack.
06:36He holds on long enough to die in her arms.
06:39Oh, God.
06:40Oh, God, John.
06:42Oh, John, please.
06:44Sam Malone and Diane Chambers.
06:47Cheers.
06:48Are you Sam?
06:50Yes, he's here.
06:51Someone named Vicky.
06:53No, no, no, no, no.
06:54The owner and operator of Boston's friendliest bar, ex-baseball player Sam Malone's charms
07:00are lost on the snooty intellectual Diane Chambers.
07:03When Diane finds herself in Cheers, she's not exactly impressed.
07:07She's also not impressed with Sam's flirtatious, overly familiar, and caddish attitude.
07:12Nothing personal, but I'm not in the habit of talking with bartenders.
07:16I understand.
07:17One's trying to move into my neighborhood.
07:19Their will-they-won't-they relationship continued for years.
07:22Actress Shelley Long left the show in its fifth season, and the two broke up.
07:27Diane would come back for the series finale, where the two would briefly rekindle their relationship
07:32and hop on a plane to Los Angeles to start a new life.
07:35They realize what a mistake it would be before the plane even takes off, but it doesn't make it any less emotional.
07:41Hey.
07:44You know?
07:45Yes.
07:51I think we both know.
07:52Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence.
07:55Boy Meets World and Girl Meets World.
07:57These two already knew each other, but it wasn't until they were paired up for a group project that we first got to meet Topanga Lawrence.
08:04Give me your hand.
08:09Why?
08:10I want to see if our energies converge.
08:16At first, Cory Matthews is put off by Topanga's hippie energy and her eccentric attention to vibrations.
08:23It's a far cry from the character we get to know later on, whom Cory marries.
08:27I never understood anything that happened in my life.
08:30The only thing that ever made sense to me was you, and how I felt about you.
08:40The last time we see these two together is in the show's spinoff, Girl Meets World.
08:45Topanga and Cory are still together, and in a reversal of the original series, offering wisdom to their own children as they grow up.
08:53We're not going anywhere.
08:56So after you've met the world for a while, the best thing that happens is to find out just where it is you belong.
09:03We did.
09:05Now it's your turn.
09:06Fox Mulder and Dana Scully.
09:08The X-Files.
09:10Do you believe in the existence of extraterrestrials?
09:14Logically, I would have to say no.
09:17Given the distances needed to travel from the far reaches of space, the energy requirements would exceed a spacecraft's capabilities.
09:24Conventional wisdom.
09:25Scully is not exactly thrilled to be assigned as spooky Mulder's partner in the first episode, and both of them know it.
09:31Meeting him in his office, she's apprehensive of his conspiracism.
09:36He's clearly bitter about his treatment by his FBI colleagues.
09:39He tests her knowledge, and she manages to impress him.
09:42What I find fantastic is any notion that there are answers beyond the realm of science.
09:49The answers are there.
09:51You just have to know where to look.
09:53That's why they put the eye in FBI.
09:56Their mismatched styles and ideologies are a big driver of the show's drama.
10:01At the end of the show's revival series, the two reunite.
10:04Scully tearfully tells Mulder they're going to have a child of their own.
10:08Given the events of the series so far, this was something that was looking less and less possible.
10:13I know.
10:17I know.
10:21It's more than impossible.
10:29Olivia Pope and Fitzgerald Grant III.
10:32Scandal.
10:33Are you dating anybody?
10:34Because there's this guy at Council's office.
10:35I think you'd really hit it off with.
10:36I'm good.
10:37Really, thank you.
10:38Libby.
10:40Mr. President.
10:41It's good to see you.
10:42The big reveal of this Shondaland series is that Washington, D.C.'s preeminent fixer
10:47is secretly in love with the married president of the United States.
10:50A flashback in a later episode shows us the first time the two met.
10:54During his presidential campaign, Olivia Pope's straightforward way of speaking offends
10:59and then charms Fitzgerald Grant III.
11:02I am brilliant.
11:03I would eat, breathe, and live Fitzgerald Grant every minute of every day.
11:06You would be lucky to have me.
11:08Just because you don't like hearing the truth about yourself.
11:10I loved hearing what you had to say.
11:11I agree with every word very astute.
11:13And you're right.
11:14I would be lucky to have you.
11:19After years of scandals, lover's spats, and international incidents, the two end the series
11:25together.
11:26In the series finale, Olivia and Fitz have a reunion in front of the U.S. Capitol.
11:30Fittingly enough, as this is one relationship that's done more than its share of damage to
11:35the U.S. government.
11:36Hi.
11:37Hi.

12:13Hi.
12:14Hi.
12:16Hi.
12:17come back down here and we'll pick up where we left off. No, seriously, you have to go unlate,
12:22which isn't what you want to be on your first day of work, so. Gray's Anatomy starts with
12:26Meredith Gray and Derek Shepard waking up after a one-night stand. Meredith, dark and twisty as
12:32she is, doesn't want to commit to even seeing him again. Of course, their love story goes on to form
12:37the entire crux of the show for over a decade. Dr. Shepard, we should pretend it never happened.
12:42What never happened? You sleeping with me last night? Or are you throwing me out this morning?
12:46Because both are fond memories I like to hold on to. The couple, known lovingly as Meredare by the
12:51fans, ended tragically when improper hospital care sees Derek succumb to his injuries from a car
12:56accident. With tears in her eyes, Meredith is at Derek's side when he is taken off life support.
13:02She relives their entire journey through flashbacks as she spends their last moments together.
13:07Are you ready?
13:12No, but go ahead.
13:14Who's your favorite TV couple? Let us know in the comments.
13:18You make me feel like I'm living a teenage dream.
