राज्यसभा में US Tariffs को लेकर केंद्रीय मंत्री पीयूष गोयल ने कहा कि हालिया घटनाक्रम के प्रभाव का सरकार द्वारा मूल्यांकन किया जा रहा है। उन्होंने कहा:
"हम राष्ट्रीय हित को सुरक्षित और आगे बढ़ाने के लिए हर जरूरी कदम उठाएंगे।"उन्होंने बताया कि कॉमर्स और इंडस्ट्री मंत्रालय सभी स्टेकहोल्डर्स, एक्सपोर्टर्स और इंडस्ट्री से फीडबैक ले रहा है और किसानों, मजदूरों, उद्यमियों, MSMEs और उद्योग के सभी वर्गों के कल्याण को सर्वोच्च प्राथमिकता दी जा रही है।

00:00I would like to advise the House about the statement by the President of the United States of America on 30th July 2025 regarding applicable tariff on bilateral trade from 1st August 2025.
00:20On 2nd April 2025, the US President had issued an executive order on reciprocal tariffs imposing additional duties ranging from 10% to 50% on imports from its trading partners.
00:40A baseline duty of 10% has been affected from 5th April 2025.
00:47The additional duty on India was announced at 26% including baseline tariff of 10%.
00:58Originally, the full country's specific additional duty was to be affected from 9th April 2025 but was postponed initially for 90 days on 10th April 2025
01:14and further extended up to 1st August 2025.
01:19Aghanal Chairman Sir, India and the US entered into negotiations for a fair, balanced and mutually beneficial bilateral trade agreement in March 2025,
01:37with a target to complete the first branch of the agreement by fall of 2025.
01:44The two sides finalized the detailed forms of preference to enter into negotiations of the BTA on 29th March 2025 during the first physical round of discussions held at New Delhi.
02:04Thereafter, four physical rounds of negotiations have taken place between both sides in New Delhi and Washington DC to work towards finalization of the BTA in accordance with the agreed terms of reference.
02:22In addition, there have been many virtual meetings between the two sides.
02:29Mr. Chairman Sir, the implications of the recent development are being examined by the government.
02:35The Ministry of Commerce and Industry is engaged with all stakeholders including exporters and industry for taking feedback of their assessment of the situation.
02:50The government attaches the utmost importance to protecting and promoting the welfare of our farmers, workers, entrepreneurs, exporters, MSMEs and all sections of industry.
03:07We will take all necessary steps to secure and advance our national interests.
03:22Mr. Chairman Sir, in just over a decade, India has rapidly transformed from being one of the fragile five to the fastest growing major economies in the world.
03:41We have risen from the 11th largest economy to one of the top five economies, given by our reforms, hard work of our farmers, MSMEs and entrepreneurs.
04:00It is also widely expected that we will become the third largest economy in a few years.
04:13Today, international institutions and economists see India as the bright spot in the global economy.
04:25India is contributing to almost 16% of global growth.
04:30Mr. Chairman Sir, in the last decade, the government has taken transformative measures to promote India as the manufacturing hub of the world.
04:45Given the American India Initiative, India's young, skilled and talented workforce is driving the economy.
04:54is driving innovation and competitiveness of Indian industry.
05:01Our exports have steadily increased during the last 11 years.
05:07In an increasingly protectionist world, India has done mutually beneficial trade agreements with UAE, UK, Australia and Africa countries.
05:23We are also committed to similar trade agreements with other countries.
05:30We are consistently working for the welfare of the farmers and Indian agriculture to promote prosperity and ensure food security.
