00:00Nice to see you.
00:04We've had a great weekend.
00:07And we, as you know, we made our deal with the European Union.
00:12The Japan deal is done.
00:16Many of the other deals are done.
00:18Indonesia was a very big deal.
00:20Big country, actually.
00:22And they're wonderful, and hopefully wonderful for both sides.
00:27But it's literally trillions of dollars ultimately being brought into our country.
00:33And it was something that had to be done.
00:36And it is being done, and it's being done properly.
00:39We're now negotiating with various other countries.
00:42And the rest we're just sending out the bill, too.
00:46We send a bill.
00:47We send a letter saying that you'll pay a certain tariff.
00:51Obviously, that's most of them because you have, as you know, hundreds of countries,
00:56a lot of countries out there.
00:58So we look at the deficit or we look at the surplus.
01:02And we look at the country and how the country has treated us.
01:06And lots of other things go into the equation.
01:08And we make a decision as to what that tariff will be.
01:13And it's a pretty standard letter from that point on.
01:16And I want to tell you, this is something to me.
01:19It's a VA bill signing.
01:21And it's very important to me and to many of the people in this room.
01:25So I'm thrilled to sign the VA Home Loan Program Reform Act into law.
01:31And that is something that they've wanted to do for a long time.
01:37This legislation provides desperately needed relief to veterans and their families who have fallen behind on their mortgages,
01:45of which there are a lot, because we have somebody that doesn't want to lower interest rates
01:50and probably won't lower them today.
01:52It's really sort of an amazing situation.
01:56And it helps keep our promise to end veterans' homelessness.
02:01And we're going to do that for America.
02:04We're going to do that for our great veterans.
02:06I'm thrilled to be joined by the bill's sponsor, Congressman Derek Van Orden.
02:11Where is Derek?
02:12Right here.
02:13Derek.
02:14Hello, Derek.
02:15I didn't see you back there.
02:16I didn't see you back there.
02:17Mike.
02:18How are you, Mike?
02:19Mr. President.
02:20Very good.
02:21These two gentlemen are terrific.
02:25They are working together.
02:27And they've been working together, Michael, a long time on this.
02:30So I just want to thank you both.
02:32And I'll ask you to say a couple of words.
02:34An estimated 61,000 American veterans are in danger of losing their homes, as you know.
02:40But thanks to this bill, the Department of Veterans Affairs will be empowered to pay loan holders the necessary amount to prevent foreclosures on our veterans.
02:50So our veterans won't be foreclosed and put out onto the streets.
02:53It's very important.
02:55This bill also creates a five-year partial claim program that could benefit up to 3.7 million veterans.
03:02That's the kind of numbers you're talking about.
03:04It's big stuff.
03:05The costs of the program are fully offset and will add nothing at all to debt.
03:10This common sense legislation had overwhelming support and passed unanimously in the House and the Senate.
03:18Wow.
03:19When was the last time that happened?
03:22That's pretty impressive.
03:25My administration is committed to doing everything possible to ensure that our veterans are treated with respect and treated as well as anybody in this country.
03:33They're so important.
03:34They're so great.
03:35They've suffered so much in many cases.
03:38They may have signed an executive order to open the National Center for Warrior Independence in Los Angeles, California, which will house up to 6,000 homeless veterans.
03:50You know, until we came along, they treated the veterans far worse than the illegal immigrants.
03:56They came in.
03:57They were staying in hotels, luxury hotels, and the veterans are staying outside of the sidewalk on the same hotel.
04:02Some pictures are just incredible.
04:04In addition, we'll also be opening a full-service VA center in New Hampshire, which is the only state in the union to not have a VA center.
04:13And I made that promise to the people of New Hampshire a long while ago, and we got it done.
04:19It's the only state that doesn't have, and yet you have a lot of veterans in New Hampshire.
04:23We're slashing the wait times at VA medical centers, and we're bringing back VA choice and VA accountability, which I had.
04:31And the Democrats abandoned.
04:34It made it so much better.
04:36Accountability, meaning if you treat our veterans badly, we treat you badly.
04:41You get fired and beyond that.
04:43And VA choice is you can get out, and you can, if you don't have a doctor ready, willing, and able to take care of you within the VA, you go outside.
04:54You go see a doctor, you get better, and we pay the bill.
05:00And the veterans loved it.
05:03We had a 92 percent approval rating.
05:06And what did the Democrats do?
05:07They came along, and they ended both of them.
05:09And they hired back many of the people that we fired.
05:11We fired people and replaced them with great, loving people.
05:16But we fired people who were sadists.
05:18In many cases, they were sick.
05:20They were thieves.
05:22They were stealing.
05:23And they hired them back.
05:25The accountability, meaning the VA accountability, it was a big deal getting it passed because you have unions.
05:30You have all sorts of problems to go through.
05:33We got it through everything.
05:34And the Democrats, as soon as they got back, they hired many of the worst people right back, and we're getting rid of them.
05:41But I want to thank the two gentlemen standing behind me.
05:44And I'd like to ask you just to say a couple of words, and then we'll take a few questions if you'd like.
05:49And we'll sign the bill, and our veterans will be very happy about it.
05:55Mike, do you want to stop?
05:56Sure.
05:57Well, first off, thank you, Mr. President, for signing this bill today.
06:00Let me tell you that not only this bill, which will help make sure that those veterans that have got themselves in a situation where maybe they would be foreclosed on,
06:08it gives them just a little bit of extra help without the government going into a banking business like what we had with the previous administration.
06:16I also want to say thank you, too, though, for appointing Doug Collins as our secretary for the VA.
06:22As chairman of the VA, having the opportunity to work with Doug, one, because we worked together before, but he has the right attitude.
06:30And the attitude is the VA is not about bureaucracy.
06:34It's about the veterans, and we want to keep it that way.
06:37That doesn't mean we don't have a good workforce.
06:41What it means is that workforce is focused on the veterans, not on making sure that the VA grows, but making sure that the VA does the job it's supposed to do.
06:48And thank you, Mr. President.
06:49It's your leadership that allows that to happen.
06:51Thank you, everybody, for coming here today.
06:56Thank you, Mr. President, for hosting us here.
06:58I'm the longest-serving enlisted member of the United States military to ever get elected to Congress in the history of our nation.
07:04And I'm unequivocally stating right now that President Donald J. Trump is the most positive pro-veteran president in the history of this country.
07:11And so he backs up his words with deeds, and this is another example of how President Trump is taking care of our veterans.
07:19So, sir, I'm very thankful for you, for your leadership, and let's get this thing done and get our veterans into homes.
07:25So God bless you, and God bless the United States.
07:27Thank you, Mr. President.
07:29Let's sign first, and we'll take a couple of questions.
07:32Yes.
07:33We'll get it done.
07:36We've been waiting a long time.
07:38And I do want to commend Doug Collins because I hear what he's doing.
07:41He's doing a fantastic job.
07:42He's done an incredible job.
08:01Okay.
08:02Is that the other one?
08:03That's a good one.
08:04No.
08:05What opinion?
08:10It's a very important bill.
08:12And we want to thank everybody for the great help,
08:16but in particular, you guys have been fantastic, John.
08:19Thank you very much.
08:20Thank you for the pen.
08:23Oh, I'll do that one.
08:24And we'll send them and give them to the other people
08:29to help.
08:29OK?
08:30Very well.
08:32OK, questions?
08:33Mr. President, you said that higher interest rates are
08:36making it harder for veterans to refinance.
08:39There's a stronger-than-expected GDP report this morning.
08:43What do you say to analysts who worry that lowering interest
08:46rates would actually lead to inflation?
08:48Well, if that happens, then we just raise them.
08:50What you do is you lower them, and let's see if there's
08:53inflation.
08:53Right now, there's no inflation.
08:54Everybody thought there would be.
08:56All we have is billions of dollars of cash pouring into
08:59our country from other countries that took advantage of us
09:03for many, many years.
09:04You know, they were taken advantage of.
09:05We were like the stupid people that didn't know what
09:08they were doing.
09:09They took advantage of us.
09:11Other countries, friend and foe.
09:13And by the way, the friend was oftentimes much worse than
09:16the foe when it comes to trade.
09:19So if that happens, what you do is you raise your rates
09:22and you do what you have to do to stop inflation.
09:24But we're keeping the rates high, and it's hurting people
09:28from buying houses.
09:29And we don't want that.
09:31If for any reason that happened in a year or two, if
09:33there's some signs of inflation coming back, right now,
09:36there's not, we have a great thing going.
09:38I think we're going to have the richest economy you've
09:41ever seen.
09:42We have money coming in that we've never even thought
09:44about at numbers that nobody's ever seen before.
09:48We have a deal with Japan where they're going to pay us
09:50$550 billion.
09:52We have a deal with Europe where they're doing $750 billion
09:56plus $400 billion plus $300 billion.
10:00And many other countries, it's likewise, you know,
10:02relatively, those are two big ones, but likewise.
10:05So we have a lot of money coming in, and we have no
10:09inflation, and we should, and we're very strong, and we
10:12should be lowering the rates.
10:13You know, each point that this gentleman keeps up costs us
10:19$365 billion a year.
10:23Think of that, one point, $365 billion.
10:27If you bring it down a point, we save 365.
10:30We should be the lowest interest rate, and we're not.
10:34We're 38, number 38, because of the Fed.
10:37It's all because of the Fed.
10:39He's done a bad job.
10:41Now, he's got a meeting today, but I call him too late.
10:45You know, he's always too late.
10:46Even if he does it today, probably won't.
10:49I hear they're going to do it in September, not today.
10:51For what reason, nobody knows, but Europe, as you
10:57know, cut their rates 11 times in the last short
11:01period of time.
11:03But the good news is we're doing better than anybody
11:05anywhere in the world.
11:06Nobody is doing anything even close to us, even with
11:09the higher rates.
11:10The higher rates do affect housing, though, because
11:12people can't go out and get a loan or refinance their
11:14house, and it would be nice to have them be able to do
11:17that.
11:17That would be just another check of a box that would be
11:21very important.
11:21Yeah, please.
11:22The Pressure President, you mentioned today that
11:24India, in addition to its 25 percent care rate, would
11:27pay an additional penalty because of its support of
11:30Russia.
11:30What is that additional penalty?
11:32And are other countries facing the same threat?
11:35The President Biden Well, we're negotiating right
11:37now, and it's also BRICS.
11:38You know, they have BRICS, which is basically a
11:40group of countries that are anti the United States.
11:43And India is a member of that, if you can believe
11:45it.
11:46It's an attack on the dollar, and we're not going to
11:48let anybody attack the dollar.
11:50So it's partially BRICS, and it's partially the trade
11:54situation.
11:55It's a deficit.
11:56We had a tremendous deficit.
11:59So, as you know, Prime Minister Modi is a friend of
12:02mine.
12:02But they don't do very much business in terms of
12:05business with us.
12:07They sell a lot to us, but we don't buy from them.
12:09You know why?
12:10Because the tariff is so high.
12:11They have one of the highest tariffs in the world.
12:14Now they're willing to cut it very substantially.
12:15But we'll see what happens.
12:16We're talking to India now.
12:17We'll see what happens.
12:18And it doesn't matter too much whether we have a deal or
12:21whether we charge them a certain tariff.
12:23But you'll know at the end of this week, August 1st is a
12:29very big day for this country because money is going to
12:32pour into the United States like we've never seen before.
12:34Yes, ma'am.
12:35Thank you, Mr. President.
12:36Senator Hawley introduced legislation that would ban
12:39members of Congress from owning or trading individual
12:41stocks at expense to the President and to the Vice
12:44President.
12:45Are you in favor of that legislation?
12:46Well, I like it conceptually.
12:47I don't know about it, but I like it conceptually.
12:49And, you know, Nancy Pelosi became rich by having inside
12:54information.
12:56She made a fortune with her husband.
12:57And I think that's disgraceful.
13:00So in that sense, I'd like it.
13:01But I'd have to really see the I'd have, you know, I
13:03studied these things very carefully and this just
13:05happened.
13:06So I'll take a look at it.
13:08But conceptually, I like it.
13:10And what I do think is Nancy Pelosi should be
13:13investigated because what she has the highest return of
13:16anybody practically in the history of Wall Street,
13:20save a few.
13:23And how did that happen?
13:25It happened by she knows exactly what's going to
13:27happen, what's going to be announced.
13:28She buys stock and then the stock goes up after the
13:31announcements made.
13:33And she ought to be investigated.
13:34Mr. President, Harvard is reportedly willing to
13:38settle with you for $500 million.
13:40$500 million.
13:41Is that enough?
13:44Well, it's a lot of money.
13:45It's a lot of money.
13:47We're negotiating with Harvard now.
13:49They would like to settle.
13:50So we'll see what happens.
13:51Mr. President, how is America's debt to our Afghan war
13:57allies that kept our veterans safe over there?
13:59There's been some talk about sending a lot of them back.
14:02Would you let America do this?
14:03We know the good ones and we know the ones that maybe
14:05aren't so good.
14:07You know, some came over that aren't so good.
14:09And we're going to take care of those people, the ones that
14:12did a job, the ones that were told certain things.
14:15A shame what happened.
14:16One of the most disgraceful episodes in the history of our
14:20country.
14:20The way we left Afghanistan was just a disgrace.
14:25But I understand your question fully.
14:27And we'll take care of 90 percent of your question.
14:31Okay?
14:31I know what you mean.
14:32Thank you very much.
14:33Mr. President, on the tariffs on India, are you still open to
14:37negotiate with India on the tariff front?
14:39Well, we're talking joke now.
14:40We'll see what happens.
14:41Again, India was the highest or just about the highest tariff
14:46nation in the world.
14:48One of the highest 100 points, 150 points or percentages.
14:56So India was one of the highest in the world.
14:58They had won 175 percent.
15:03And higher than that, you know, is another higher one is Canada.
15:06Canada has, they've been charging our farmers 200 percent,
15:10300 percent, 400 percent for years.
15:13And nobody did anything about it.
15:15But India is one of the highest.
15:16So we're going to see.
15:17We're negotiating with India right now.
15:18Mr. President, on the news, Kash Patel reportedly found
15:22burn bags of Russia-gate materials.
15:24And I'd love to get your thoughts on that.
15:25The President Biden said what?
15:26Burn bags of Russia-gate materials that the guys supposedly found.
15:30I don't know that.
15:30I don't know.
15:31I don't know what you mean by that statement.
15:34Say.
15:34Bags full of Russia-gate.
15:36Oh, burn bag.
15:37I thought you said appointed a man named burn bag.
15:39Go ahead.
15:41You got to speak up.
15:43Thousands of documents in these bags, supposedly burn bags at the FBI in the secret room.
15:48Well, I want everything to be shown, you know, as long as it's fair and reasonable,
15:52I think it will be shown and it should be shown.
15:56And I think he feels that way.
15:58And I think Pam feels that way.
16:00But it's got to be, you know, it's got to be stuff that really doesn't hurt people unfairly.
16:04Because you have so many people involved.
16:06And if they can do that in a fair way, I think it's great.
16:09I think it's really great.
16:10The whole thing is a scam.
16:11It's a scam set up by the Democrats and they love talking about it.
16:15And I would like to see people exposed that might be bad.
16:21And we'll see how that all works out.
16:23But it's getting to be very old news.
16:25You know, if they had anything, they would have done it the week before the election because
16:29they were losing by a lot.
16:30If they had anything, they would have done it.
16:32They controlled the file.
16:35The Democrats controlled it.
16:37Comey and all the, you know, sleazebags, every one of them that you read about all the time.
16:42And I guess they've got some problems now having to do with yet a different scandal.
16:47Very big one.
16:49But they control that file.
16:50So I would think that if they would have had something in the file, they would have released it about a week before the election.
16:56Maybe two weeks.
16:57Right, Brian?
16:58Go ahead.
16:59Mr. President, welcome home, by the way.
17:00Thank you very much.
17:01Good to see you.
17:02It was a great trip.
17:03It was an amazing trip.
17:04It looked good.
17:05For the country.
17:06For me, it was okay.
17:07But for the country, it was an amazing trip.
17:09Go ahead.
17:10It was.
17:11Many parents are preparing to send their kids back to school in a few weeks.
17:15Now, this will be the first time they've gone back to school under the second administration for you.
17:20Now, the previous administration labeled a lot of parents domestic terrorists for showing up at school board meetings.
17:26What's your message to parents now as they return their kids to school knowing that they have the support of you?
17:32Well, the beautiful thing is, as you know, we've gotten rid of the woke.
17:36Woke is gone.
17:37And I think pretty well buried.
17:39We're going to keep, we're going to make sure it's buried.
17:41But the parents are now taking over the school boards.
17:43They're getting rid of these people that probably didn't like the children very much based on what they were doing.
17:50And it's a big difference.
17:52And, you know, one of the other things, and I keep watching these talking points that the Democrats have.
17:56They say, oh, prices are up.
17:58No, prices are way down.
18:00Fuel is down.
18:01Groceries are down.
18:03Things like eggs are way down.
18:04You know, when I came in my first week, the eggs had gone up like four or five times.
18:08Nobody had ever seen anything like it.
18:10And they were hitting me about eggs.
18:11I said, I just got here.
18:13Literally, it was one of my first news, maybe my first news conference.
18:16And we have eggs down now to a point where they were actually lower than even before.
18:21So I just want everyone to know prices are way down.
18:24And that's a big thing.
18:26Groceries, everything.
18:28If you look at fuel, $2.35 a gallon, a lot of that.
18:35But we actually had three states, four states, where it's down $1.99.
18:39$1.99 as opposed to $3.50, $4.00.
18:43And it went up a lot higher than that.
18:45They got rid of my policy.
18:47And then it went through the roof.
18:49And then they brought my policy back.
18:51But it was too late.
18:52They blew it.
18:53We had the highest inflation in the history of our country.
18:56And now we have no inflation.
18:59We have nothing but cash coming in.
19:01The world respects us again.
19:03We're a really great, proud country.
19:06And I say it, I'll say it again.
19:08Many, many leaders of other countries.
19:11I'm dealing with a lot of them today on their tariff situation.
19:14They owe us a lot of money.
19:15But many countries said to me, and almost in the same words,
19:20you were a dead country one year ago.
19:22And today, you're the hottest country anywhere in the world.
19:24We are the hottest country right now anywhere in the world.
19:27And that's why we're taking care of our veterans.
19:29Okay?
19:30Thank you very much, everybody.
19:31The Press on China.
19:32The Press on China.
19:33The Press on China.
19:34The Press on China.
19:35The Press on China.
19:36The Press on China.
19:37The Press on the Press on China.
19:38The Press on the Press on China.
19:39The Press on China.
19:40The Press on China.
19:41The Press on China.
19:42We're moving along with China.
19:43We're doing fine with China.
19:44I think it's going to work out very well.
