03:41Et puis, en 7e, il y a Christian Yelich, encore.
03:58Yelich's 20th home run of the year.
04:00His first 20 homer season since he hit 44 in 2019.
04:03He might be back.
04:04He's definitely back.
04:05The Miz ended up only giving up 2 earned runs
04:07and striking out 7 over 4 frames.
04:09Good enough to help the Brewers get an 8-4 win,
04:11and more importantly, get into 1st place by a game in the NL Central.
04:15Coming up, a top trade target comes out of the game
04:18after getting hit by a pitch and remembering Rhyno.
04:24The D-backs lost to the Tigers 5-1.
04:26Detroit's recently called up prospect Troy Melton
04:28pitched 7 scoreless with 5 strikeouts.
04:30But the big news out of the game was top trade deadline target
04:32Ioannio Suarez getting hit on the hand by a pitch in the 9th.
04:35Suarez came out of the game,
04:36wincing in pain when the trainer tended to him.
04:38The slugger went in for x-rays, and they came back negative.
04:40As D-backs manager Tori Lavella said,
04:42about a half a dozen teams were holding their breaths.
04:45Ronald Acuna Jr. hit a 468-foot home run,
04:48his longest of the year, and the 5th longest of his career,
04:50to help the Braves do a 10-7 win over the Royals.
04:52Marcelo Zuna and Austin Riley also homered in the victory.
04:55The Orioles blew out the Blue Jays 11-4.
04:57Those hit 4 homers, including Ramon Laureano's 15th
04:59and Cedric Mullins' 15th, roughing up Chris Bassett.
05:02George Springer was also hit in the head by a pitch late in the game and removed.
05:05Manager John Schneider said it more got him in the shoulder
05:07and was hopeful there wasn't serious injury.
05:09The Dodgers stopped the Reds' 4-game winning streak,
05:12topping Cincy 5-2.
05:14Yoshinobu Yamamoto struck out 9 across 7 innings,
05:16giving him just a run.
05:17He's now 9-7 on the season with a 2.48 ERA,
05:193rd best in the NL.
05:20Chase Burns struck out 10 in the loss,
05:22but gave up 3 runs.
05:23Junior Kaminero hit his 27th homer,
05:25and Drew Resmussen gave up just 2 runs over 5
05:27to get the raise of 42 win over the Yankees and the Bronx.
05:29The Angels stopped the Rangers' 6-game winning streak,
05:32beating Jacob DeGrom in Texas 6-4.
05:34DeGrom gave up 4 runs.
05:35DeGrom's ERA went up to 2.55 on the year,
05:37tied for 4th in the league.
05:38Taylor Ward homered in the win,
05:39his 25th of the season.
05:41In some other trade non-game news,
05:43the Tigers traded their No. 14 prospect,
05:45catcher Enrique Jimenez,
05:46to the Twins for right-handed pitchers Chris Paddock and Randy Dobnak.
05:49The two will give Detroit some depth,
05:51but they won't be aces by any means.
05:52Paddock has put up a 4.95 ERA in 111 innings this season,
05:55while Dobnak has spent most of the year at AAA,
05:57with an ERA over 7.
05:58The Brewers are in the process of finalizing a trade with the Rays
06:01for catcher Danny Jansen,
06:02providing some backup help behind Wilson Kodreres.
06:05Jansen has posted 11 homers and a 7.03 OPS for the Rays this year.
06:08The Braves acquired Carlos Carrasco from the Yankees,
06:11mostly as a placeholder for their injured rotation.
06:13Seth Lugo is not going anywhere,
06:15signing a two-year extension to stay in Kansas City until at least 2027,
06:18while Casey has lost all-star Chris Bubich for the rest of the year
06:21to a left rotator constraint.
06:22And Emmanuel Class A has been placed on non-disciplinary paid leave
06:26through August 31st,
06:27while MLB continues its sports betting investigation.
06:30In some tragic news,
06:32Cubs great and Baseball Hall of Famer Ryan Sandberg passed away yesterday at the age of 65.
06:36Sandberg had battled prostate cancer into remission in August 2024,
06:39but it came back and spread to other organs by the end of last year.
06:42Still, he promised to fight on and made appearances at Wrigley Field this season,
06:45even firing a first pitch on opening day.
06:47Ryan O was one of the best second basemen to ever step on a Major League Diamond,
06:50doing everything possible on the field.
06:51He went to 10 all-star games, won 9 gold gloves,
06:54stole 344 bases, hit 282 home runs,
06:56including a league-leading 40 in 1990,
06:58and took home an NL MVP award in 1984.
07:00He even has a game name back for himself,
07:02the Sandberg Game,
07:03when he helped the Cubs come back from a 7-1 deficit against the Cardinals with 7 RBIs,
07:06including a game-tying homer in both the 9th and 10th innings.
07:09He was beloved by fans at Wrigley and baseball fans everywhere,
07:11much of it because of the respectful way he played the game,
07:13something he noted in his 2005 Hall of Fame speech
07:16that was recently beautifully recited at this past weekend ceremony in Cooperstown.
07:19Here's the original from Ryan O himself.
07:21The reason I am here, they tell me,
07:24is that I played the game a certain way,
07:26that I played the game the way it was supposed to be played.
07:30I don't know about that,
07:32but I do know this.
07:34I had too much respect for the game to play it any other way.
07:40And if there is a single reason I am here today,
07:42it is because of one word, respect.
07:46That's all for today's morning lineup.
07:48I will be back with you tomorrow.
