00:00Hey guys take a look at this map of the region I'd like to show you where the
00:06first attack happened off of St. Martin right here and then the second attack
00:10couple of weeks later happened in between St. Kitts and Nevis and they
00:13both came back as positive for the same animal. After each attack scientists
00:19collected samples of the shark's DNA from the victims wounds. What they
00:23discovered was remarkable. When they did the forensic analysis they were able to
00:28identify the species of the shark it was a tiger shark and most fascinatingly it
00:33was the same individual. Eyewitnesses from the recent attacks describe the shark as
00:39being between 12 to 16 feet long with scars all over it and very aggressive. I use
00:48my thumb to gouge its eye that's when the shark opened its mouth and let my leg go.
00:56For the locals the killer shark sounds remarkably similar to Jobway the devil shark.
01:03In this region the Jobway is the tiger shark of legend that's also known as the
01:09devil shark. You look in some of the old books in the museums you hear about this
01:13individual. Growing up in this region we always had legends of this really
01:18particularly big female tiger shark. It had scars on it that has been chasing down
01:23boats ripping up traps. It makes you wonder where are you going to be if you're a big
01:30tiger shark particularly one that's roaming around and implicated in all
01:33these events. But for me it's right here Saba Bank. Saba Bank is my fishing ground. I know a
01:38spot called Devil's Spine which is located right here. Just a couple of weeks ago I had a
01:43craziest encounter with a shark here. I was out fishing. Me and my crew came up on the first trap.
01:51As we were pulling up the three of us were turning and we all saw it and the shark was in the air.
01:58It hit right on the rubber rail. That's what stopped it from coming on board.
02:05It was so much strange shark behavior that day.
02:08Wow. Real strange.
02:10I want to get to the truth behind the legend. I want to do some science. I want to get on the water
02:14figure out what's really happening here.
02:17To catch the killer and determine the cause of the attacks, Dr. Austin Gallagher and shark conservationist King of Phillips are teaming up with local fisherman Nicky Johnson
02:28and local scientist Tadzio Berwawetz. The most dangerous thing about the tiger shark is that it often sees you before you see it.
02:36Their first step, find and DNA sample the biggest tiger sharks in the area and see if they can match it with the killer.
02:45If you look on a map and you look at where the first attack happened and if you look at where the second attack happened,
02:54this area of the devil's spine sits right in the middle of those two locations.
03:00The reason we call it the devil's spine is because it goes from about 1,500 feet straight up to about 40, 45 feet along the spine of the ridge of the saber bank.
03:09So we really think that this bank acts as a congregation area for these massive tiger sharks.
03:14With large, serrated teeth, tiger sharks can devour fish and slice through turtle shells with ease.
03:23But attacks on humans are still rare, making these recent encounters stand out.
03:33So we've arrived to a place called the devil's spine.
03:35Yep. Bombs away.
03:36Bombs away.
03:37Bombs away.
03:38We're going to get some bruv in the water.
03:39We've got the drone in the sky.
03:40It's looking good going down.
03:41Hopefully, we can find the shark that was actually responsible for those attacks.
03:48All right, guys.
03:49And right now, we're getting a look into the live view of the bruv right over there.
03:52Tad, are there a lot of divers that come out here to the bank?
03:54I'm not really used to the divers at this point.
03:55Shark.
03:56Big tiger shark.
03:57Oh.
03:58Tiger shark.
03:59Right here.
04:00Really?
04:01That one right there.
04:02Where is he at?
04:03He's on the buoy.
04:04He's on the buoy.
04:05Oh, my gosh.
04:06What?
04:07Holy .
04:08Huge tiger.
04:11Within minutes of baiting the devil's spine, the team has their first suspect.
04:17Let's pull the buoy in a little bit.
04:20Hold it on it.
04:21Hold it on it.
04:22There it is.
04:23There it is.
04:24It's a big shark.
04:25Exciting, you guys.
04:26Big tiger.
04:29Holy .
04:30I'm tired, guys.
04:31Get ready.
04:32Let's get in the water, guys.
04:33You good?
04:34Watch out, guys.
04:35Poms check.
04:36Copy it.
04:37It's Kira.
04:38Do you copy?
04:39I copy you, Austin.
04:40Going in for at night time.
04:41Do you copy.
04:42Do you copy?
04:43Okay, guys.
04:44Let's see what's down here.
04:46How's the gravity?
04:47I'm pretty.
04:48I'm pretty.
04:49It's Kira.
04:50Do you copy?
04:51I'm pretty.
04:52I'm pretty.
04:53I'm pretty.
04:54I'm pretty.
04:55I'm pretty.
04:56I'm pretty.
04:57I'm pretty.
04:58I'm cool guys, let's see what's going on here.
05:15Houston, there is a huge trigger shock.
05:22Two heads for the drop-off.
05:24Let's follow it, let's follow it.
05:29The huge tiger shark disappears into the abyss beyond the deep drop-off.
05:40I don't miss you guys, our tiger shark is here so much.
05:43There's lots of things down here that great tigers love to eat.
05:56Love to eat.
06:01Oh guys, this is incredible looking at.
06:03So George's life.
06:07This is one of the most beautiful places I've seen.
06:10What's the other one is here?
06:16It's a fishers.
06:17It's an underwater fishers.
06:19Look at that, guys.
06:20It's like a heat tank.
06:22There's bubbles coming out of it.
06:23Saba Bank hides an active underwater volcano.
06:34I'm putting my hand in the sand and I can feel the heat.
06:38Can you feel that?
06:39Fissures are cracks in the ocean floor and they're found in abundance around volcanoes.
06:46Like an open vent, fissures can blast out hot mineral rich water and gases from below the Earth's crust.
06:53The Earth can fit really warmer.
06:57It's almost like it's charged up or something.
07:07Austin, this is Topside.
07:08Do you copy?
07:10Go copy, go copy.
07:12The tiger's back here at the surface.
07:14Get back in ASAP.
07:16Okay, Topside.
07:17I read you.
07:18I'm clear.
07:20All right, guys, let's get back.
07:23Austin and the team ditched their bulky scuba gear in favor of a more agile approach.
07:32Free diving.
07:34Behind the bait.
07:35Mark, behind the bait.
07:36Behind the bait.
07:37We have a big fish out there.
07:39The shark is thrashing around.
07:40We have two of our divers in the water.
07:42I'm gonna hop in.
07:43I'm gonna try to get a biopsy.
07:53The shark is just about 12 feet, and it has some unique scarring, so it could be a suspect in the two recent attacks.
08:05Coming at the bait.
08:06Coming at the bait.
08:22Got it, got it.
08:23Shark's on it.
08:24Shark's on it.
08:25Shark's on it.
08:26Shark's on it.
08:27Right now.
08:28The shark is thrashing violently.
08:33Until it's calm, it will be impossible to grab a DNA sample.
08:37It's on it again.
08:38Here we go.
08:39Here we go.
08:40Right here.
08:41Right here.
08:42Right here.
08:43Michael.
08:44Coming back.
08:45Careful.
08:46Heads up.
08:47Normally, a wild tiger shark will hesitate with so many divers around.
08:56Not this one.
08:58Cool.
08:59I'm gonna drop it away.
09:00Let's grab it.
09:01Where is it at?
09:02No.
09:03No.
09:04No.
09:05No.
09:06No.
09:07No.
09:08No.
09:09No.
09:12No.
09:13No.
09:14No.
09:15No.
09:16No.
09:17No.
09:18No.
09:19No.
09:21No.
09:22No.
09:23No.
09:24No.
09:26No.
09:27No.
09:28I really don't like this dude yeah those animals mean business I have to be careful
09:54that guys shark on the bait right here don't get so fired up deep in the heart of the Caribbean
10:11off the volcanic island of Saba a team of researchers is trying to get a DNA sample
10:17from an amped up tiger shark
10:19to determine if it's the shark responsible for attacking two people
10:26shark on the bait right here right here
10:30oh my god
10:46oh my god
10:53oh
10:59oh my god
11:06oh my god
11:13oh my god
11:17oh my god
11:19oh my god
11:20oh my god
11:24tiger shark thrashes violently making a biopsy attempt impossible
11:31oh my god
11:32oh my god
11:33oh my god
11:34oh my god
11:35there it is right there
11:36got it again here we go here we go right here right here
11:38Kinga spots an opening to collect the team's first biopsy
11:45oh my god
11:47we got a sample
11:48we put it in the dorsal
11:49that's awesome
11:51woo
11:52everybody's alive
11:53We got a sample, we just hit her in the dorsal.
12:02That's awesome.
12:04Whoo!
12:05Everybody's alive.
12:06I don't know anything else you want more than that.
12:09I don't know.
12:10I don't know.
12:11I don't know.
12:12I don't know.
12:13I don't know.
12:14I don't know.
12:15I don't know.
12:16That was crazy.
12:17Crazy.
12:18Crazy.
12:19That was too good to be true.
12:20We got it.
12:21Everyone good?
12:22No, it got sketchy.
12:23Tiger sharks in the Bahamas, South Africa, Australia, I've never seen aggression like that here in Sabah.
12:29Maybe it's the volcanic activity that's causing them to build up their metabolism and being just more aggressive.
12:35I actually did see some fissures and some sort of deep cuts.
12:38Could be some good signs of volcanic activity.
12:40Could be.
12:41It's something.
12:48We need to remember that Sabah is an active volcano.
12:51The last major eruption was in 1648, but it's still an island that has significant geological activity.
12:56Beneath the surface of the Sabah Bank, volcanic vents pump out heat and nutrients, drawing in fish, sea turtles, even dolphins.
13:08Research has shown that warm water and the constant seismic vibrations can create a sense of heightened aggression in tiger sharks.
13:17Certain nights when you're out there, you can see this red glow.
13:21Like you could almost hear songs of like rumbling from underwater.
13:24And the sharks just act differently.
13:26They would seem really aggressive.
13:28This location is just 30 miles from one of the recent attacks.
13:37A 38-year-old French woman was swimming alone about 100 meters offshore when she was fatally attacked.
13:44The beach had never seen a shark attack before that day.
13:48Could there be a connection between the volcanic activity in the area and the attacks?
13:53If it's the volcanic activity that is making these sharks so aggressive, we might be able to use that to our advantage to attract big sharks.
14:05I'm going to build a device that will simulate a volcanic eruption.
14:12And hopefully we're going to be able to bring out some of these big tiger sharks.
14:16We're calling it the sphere.
14:18Activity over there for me.
14:20Great.
14:21The sphere is a cutting edge tool designed to recreate volcanic conditions under water, complete with acoustics, thermal vents, and electromagnetic fields.
14:32That's it.
14:33Voila.
14:35Wow.
14:36Nothing like this has ever been tried before.
14:38All right, Kinga, fire it up.
14:40All right.
14:41On.
14:47Heat sensor's working.
14:49There's got to be some truth to some of the legends that we're hearing.
14:52There's always an origin story.
14:53But we need to be able to test that.
14:55And I think that the sphere, this simulation of volcanic activity, is going to be the key.
14:59And see if that can be used as a lure to bring out some of these big tiger sharks.
15:03It might even be the key to attracting the big tiger shark responsible for the attacks.
15:09And maybe even the legendary job way.
15:12Hop on board.
15:17Okay.
15:18There she is.
15:19Looks like a UFO.
15:20What we're going to do is set it on the bottom.
15:31And then using my comms, I'm going to trigger Nicky to turn it on, activate it to see if it's going to bring in those sharks.
15:37Good launch.
15:38That actually wasn't too bad.
15:39That was not too bad at all.
15:40Two rounds check.
15:41Good launch.
15:42That's not too bad at all.
15:48Time's check, Budginah drew your copy.
15:53brushingly baton clear.
16:01I'm ready to go to clear.
16:04I'm ready to do your copy.
16:07I'm ready to go to clear.
16:19Nicky, on my signal. Activate the sphere.
16:23Copy that, Austin.
16:25Okay, Nicky.
16:27Three, two, one, now!
16:31I'm ready to go.
16:39Do you guys want it?
16:41The vibrations are so intense.
16:46Man, this thing looks so cool on the water, man.
16:51Let's see if this thing throws anything in.
16:55Head on the floor, dude.
16:59Shark! Big shark!
17:01Can they wave up to us?
17:04It's a tiger. It's a tiger, dude.
17:07Holy .
17:09That thing is missing.
17:11Must be on one of the feet easily.
17:14This could be the shark we're looking for.
17:18Look at the stars.
17:19The stars.
17:20The stars.
17:25Oh, I'm kidding. There's a way in the sphere.
17:28Holy .
17:29The stars definitely work out.
17:34Maybe even too long.
17:36Can you see those guys?
17:37Please.
17:38It's the only way to determine these tigers or the pillar shark.
17:41Okay, go for the round. Here we go.
17:44That's definitely a shark.
17:48I'm in the sphere.
17:49I'm in the sphere.
17:51Be careful.
17:52Be careful.
17:53Be careful.
17:54Be careful.
17:56Here it comes.
17:57I'm gonna go for a sample.
17:58Oh, God.
18:02Yeah, scattered.
18:03Nice.
18:04Nice work.
18:06Let's lay down.
18:08Let's go for another one.
18:10Let's keep her going.
18:13It's the second target, guys.
18:14Second target.
18:17Two tigers all.
18:18Two tigers all.
18:20Almost four feet up.
18:22He's free-scored up.
18:23Oh, yeah.
18:26The second target's coming in on the sphere.
18:28The second target's coming in on the sphere, guys.
18:31She's coming in hot.
18:32Coming in hot.
18:38They keep opening the sphere.
18:42It's almost like it's looking at a door.
18:44Watch it.
18:46Right here.
18:47You're down.
18:48Watch it.
18:49It's easy.
18:50It's easy.
18:51It's easy.
18:52Keep your eyes, P.M.
18:55Touch it!
18:56Touch it!
18:57Touch it!
18:58Touch it!
18:59Touch it!
19:00Touch it away!
19:03We're in there!
19:07In the Saba Banks,
19:08a team of scientists are using a device called the sphere
19:12to attract a tiger shark responsible for two attacks on humans.
19:18Touch it!
19:19And right now...
19:20Where are you?
19:21Tomzio has come face-to-face with a prime suspect.
19:27Oh, my God!
19:29No!
19:30Touch it away!
19:31Touch it away!
19:32Get him out of there!
19:33All right, thank you.
19:34If we're here.
19:35Just, we'll be talking in the air!
19:40As long as we're here, we're also in the air!
19:41Don't worry.
19:42If we're here.
19:44Are you okay?
19:45over here.
19:48Oh no, we're saying crazy.
19:50I'm very surprised you're going crazy.
19:52I'm just running.
19:55Grab him for a shower.
19:57We're going to have a powerful
19:59next time.
20:00We're dancing.
20:01We're over here.
20:02I'm going to shut it down.
20:04Let's go.
20:05Shut it down.
20:06Go back around.
20:07We've been camping, you're watching.
20:12All right, we're moving.
20:14Go for it, Austin! Go for it! Go for it!
20:22Got it! I got it! I got it!
20:27It is a feeling hit.
20:29My work.
20:34These DNA samples will be cross-referenced with the data from the two attacks.
20:39But the team has already proven one point definitively.
20:43A volcano, whether artificial or real, will create an aggressive response from these local tiger sharks.
20:54I have a first sphere test, 1-2-6-1.
21:01We know the sphere works, and it works at bringing big sharks in close enough to get that sample.
21:09In the weeks leading up to the attacks,
21:14A wave of earthquakes, 7 in just 6 days, shook the region.
21:21Some less than 100 miles from Ceiba Bank.
21:24As the Earth's plates moved, volcanic activity surged across the Eastern Caribbean.
21:33Then, the attacks began.
21:38A woman was killed off Saint Martin, another torn apart near Saint Kitts, both by the same shark.
21:48Now, based on the team's findings, it seems likely the killer shark was triggered by something underground.
21:57Guys, we really need a lot more data.
21:59We got a lot of ground to cover.
22:01You know, look at this map.
22:03Nikki, where do you think is a good spot to go to the blood sphere?
22:05Manowar Shoals.
22:06Okay.
22:07Which is located right over here.
22:08Okay.
22:09I know a lot of volcanic activity there.
22:12Plan for today is to split up into two teams.
22:15We're going to send Kinga and Nikki over to Manowar Shoals.
22:18Tazi and I are going to be doing some fishing on the Sabre Bank.
22:21All right.
22:22Off to Manowar Shoals.
22:23Manowar Shoals is home to two volcanic peaks rising sharply from the depths with frequent
22:35seismic activity.
22:37Many fishermen report that tigers in this area will launch breaching attacks against the
22:42side of their boats.
22:43One side, I grabbed Delta.
22:44Go ahead.
22:45Three.
22:46Three.
22:47Three.
22:48Okay.
22:49Great.
22:50Perfect.
22:51Perfect.
22:52There she goes.
22:53She's thinking.
22:54As Kinga and Nikki go out, she's going to go out.
22:59She's going to go out.
23:00She's going to go out.
23:01One, two, three.
23:02Three.
23:03Okay.
23:04Great.
23:05Perfect.
23:06Perfect.
23:07There she goes.
23:08She's thinking.
23:09As Kinga and Nikki wait for the Sphere to lure in sharks, six miles away, along the much
23:18deeper ridge of the Devil's Spine, Austin and Tazio have just set their lines to bring
23:24the sharks to the surface and take DNA samples.
23:27Yeah, this is looking good.
23:28Good distance.
23:29Yeah.
23:30We got the bait on.
23:31Come on, mamas.
23:32I think you're…
23:33The first one?
23:34Yeah.
23:35Looks fine, man.
23:36We can see the shark on the surface.
23:37It's a shark.
23:38All right.
23:39Look lively.
23:40Look lively.
23:41That's a tiger.
23:42That's a tiger.
23:43Yeah, it's a tiger.
23:44The first catch of the day is exactly what they're after.
23:49A large tiger that fits the profile of the killer.
23:54Wow, it's a big one.
23:55Yeah, it's a good-sized animal.
23:56We got this.
23:57We got the shark.
23:58We got the shark.
23:59That's good.
24:00All right.
24:01Flip the shark over.
24:02Let's do measurements.
24:03Ready?
24:04Hands up.
24:05Spot the hook.
24:06Spot the hook.
24:07Move the sail.
24:08The tiger shark's head has broken free from the hook.
24:12You want to wrap her?
24:13I can get her.
24:14Yeah, wrap her, please, because she's spotting the hook.
24:18To get the measurements and biopsy, shark wrangler Connor Cassidy needs to lasso the tiger's
24:25head so the team can bring the animal next to the boat.
24:32Another rope ready?
24:33We've got to go over the center of the animal, huh?
24:35I've got the tail, so her motion is limited.
24:38Carry it down a little bit.
24:39Yeah, he got it.
24:41Tiger sharks are flexible enough to bite their own tail.
24:49With one wrong move, Connor could lose a limb.
24:56Wait, no.
24:58congratulations.
25:00Urban feeder, won't be too soon.
25:01We should just trailer the fish or go over the door, we should release another dinosaur up.
25:05now.
25:06Ooh sure.
25:07Hey, Norm.
25:08Drew cows have her balls on him.
25:09Woo.
25:11You guys have some employers on him.
25:12On him, son.
25:13Woo!
25:19What is this?
25:20You guys have some cojones on him, son.
25:25Whew.
25:39We got it.
25:40You got it?
25:41Take the line from him.
25:42Got it.
25:43High five.
25:44Wee-hoo!
25:45No, you take the line from him.
25:46Yeah.
25:47Get it. Come over there.
25:48Shark's calming down.
25:49Yes.
25:50Thank you, sir.
25:52All right.
25:53We got measurements.
25:54The PCL is 265.
25:56Let's do it.
25:57Dude, that's a big shark.
25:58Let me just start the tag.
26:00You're almost there, mama.
26:03All right.
26:04Here's the genelisepo.
26:05See if this matches up.
26:07Cool.
26:08And we're good for release.
26:09All right.
26:10We're good for release.
26:11Here we go.
26:12Shark's free.
26:19First of the day.
26:22First of the day.
26:23First of the day.
26:24All right.
26:25All right.
26:26Let's do it all over again.
26:27Yeah.
26:29The team successfully samples and attaches a satellite tag to this large tiger shark.
26:36Judging by its size and aggressive behavior, it fits the profile of the killer shark.
26:42The water's so clear.
26:45Back at Manowar Shoals, the sphere radiates low-frequency vibrations known to attract sharks.
26:55Shark, starboard side right here.
26:57Shark.
26:58We got a shark.
26:59We got a shark on the starboard side.
27:00Shark right here.
27:01It's going down towards the sphere.
27:03Here.
27:04Ah!
27:06Now Jabba, you got a shark!
27:08Hey, Kinga!
27:10I read you move clear.
27:14Torico, the trigger fish is insane!
27:29A unique scar that could connect it to the eyewitness reports of the devil shark.
27:59Oh, here it comes. I'm going for it.
28:20Okay, roger that. Sounds good.
28:22She came so close, face-to-face with me. She's big. That is a big shark.
28:33Good crow.
28:34All right, guys.
28:37Several miles away on the Saba Banks, Austin and Tadzio have hooked up a monster.
28:48That's a big shark, guys. That's a big shark.
28:50Almost got it. Almost got it. Oh, it's pulling the hook.
28:53It's pulling the hook.
28:57Let go, Taz.
28:59A shark that can drag a buoy this size underwater is by far the biggest the team has faced.
29:06Maybe even the size of the legendary devil shark.
29:11Yeah, she hooked it.
29:13There it is. There it is.
29:15That's got to be a big fish.
29:16That's a big animal.
29:17The buoy is all the way under the water.
29:21Oh, it just popped up.
29:24Pretty sure that's popped.
29:26Or is it still on it? Let's go up to it.
29:27It might still be on it.
29:29But I think it's popped.
29:33All right, grab that line.
29:35Well, there's definitely no shark on this, Tadz.
29:38Holy .
29:39Look at how it's straightened the hook.
29:41We've caught many, many big tiger sharks with this same setup.
29:45So just the fact that it broke off and completely bent the hook makes me think that there might be some truth behind the existence of the Jabboy.
29:52Spirit of Saba, this is Lady Rebecca. Over.
29:56Lady Rebecca, this is Spirit of Saba.
29:58We just had about a 12-foot tiger shark show up.
30:01That's great news.
30:02Well, you know we tagged that one shark this morning, but you're not going to believe what happened.
30:06We had a huge shark here.
30:08It bent the hook.
30:10One of the biggest ones we've probably ever caught here.
30:12You're not going to believe this either, man.
30:13The shark is already pinging.
30:14Really?
30:15Yep.
30:16On the Devil's Reef area.
30:18Hey, King, we just got a ping from one of those tiger sharks we tagged this morning.
30:21Looks like it's about six miles south of where we initially tagged it.
30:25Gonna send you the coordinates now.
30:26Copy that.
30:27We're coming your way.
30:28We're gonna do a night dive.
30:33The team chases the fresh ping to Devil's Reef, the site infamous for Jabboy sightings.
30:39This is a very unique spot on the south side of the island.
30:44I think it makes sense for us to head over there and see if night time might be the trick for finding a large tiger.
30:53Tiger sharks prefer to hunt at night, using the cover of darkness to ambush prey.
31:00We saw that this fair did an amazing job during the day, so I really can't wait to see what it does at night.
31:06But here's the thing, night time, it's sketchier.
31:08I know.
31:09You can't always see what you're doing, and with tiger sharks like we saw the other day, you need to be making eye contact.
31:14You guys ready?
31:15It's gonna be intense.
31:16Absolutely.
31:17It's gonna be night time.
31:18We're gonna stay together close.
31:19I got your back.
31:20I got your back.
31:21Got your back.
31:22We all got each other's backs.
31:23So we're going down with some pulse beers, Kinka, Tazi, and I, and hopefully we will get close enough to get a sample or two from one of these really big sharks.
31:30Three, two, one, go for it.
31:40Top side, pulse check.
31:43Austin, can you hear me?
31:44Yeah, radio, I'm clear.
31:51It's a real eerie feeling down here.
31:53The team makes their way to the shark sphere, which has been deployed on the sea floor nearby.
32:02The sphere is looking great.
32:05Nicky, Nicky, do you have to come over right here?
32:09Hey guys, I just saw a huge shadow right behind you guys.
32:12Keep an eye out.
32:17Nicky, power up the sphere.
32:19Down to lava.
32:20Three, two, one.
32:33Holy crap, I can see the vibrations in my chest, in my sinuses, and in my teeth really.
32:39This is incredible.
32:41Watch your back.
32:42Watch your back.
32:43Turn back.
32:44The pulses from the sphere mimic those of an active volcano.
32:45Great, sir.
32:46You may have bring back.
32:47This is not that.
32:49There's no need of them.
32:50That's not that you need to be like.
32:51That's not that you're going to be like.
32:52That's not that you're going to be likeume.
32:53And when the shark is working on that.
32:54The shark is all the erstmal.
32:56That's not that you're going to be likeume.
32:57There are so many of them.
33:05We're standing for 51.
33:10Do not move out of the square, guys.
33:12Stay close, stay on the square.
33:14Conduct, something got in the car for me, big shape.
33:31Anybody see something?
33:33This is Gary, great, big fish.
33:44Mr. Taylor, Mr. Taylor, Mr. Taylor, Taylor, Taylor.
33:53That's not the size we're looking for.
33:57Tells you, tells you, watch out behind you, brother.
34:02No!
34:03They're going down.
34:05Hmm.
34:07What do you mean?
34:09Hmm.
34:15Oh, my God.
34:18Please be careful.
34:19You're going to see me.
34:20Keep your eyes peeled.
34:29Come on, guys.
34:30I think I see something.
34:33If you're going to see this,
34:35that is a beast.
34:36The sphere attracts a girthy 16-foot tiger shark.
34:48That might be the biggest tiger shark I've ever seen.
34:55We can't see him without a sample from that shark.
34:58That might be the biggest tiger shark I've ever seen.
35:00Oh, my goodness.
35:01Then there's a beast.
35:03This enormous tiger matches the profile of the recent killer and the legendary devil shark.
35:06That could be two of them.
35:08Look at the size of her.
35:09She's a half-time, mega full-time.
35:11What a huge shark.
35:12We can't leave him without a sample from that shark.
35:13I'm going to get a sample.
35:14I'm going to get a sample.
35:15What a huge shark.
35:16I'm going to get a sample.
35:17Run.
35:18That could be two, boy.
35:20Look at the size of her.
35:21She's a half-time, mega full-time.
35:22What a huge shark.
35:23We can't leave him without a sample.
35:28I'm going to get a sample.
35:35I'm going to get a sample.
35:40I missed it, I couldn't get her, I missed it
35:48Wait, right there, she's coming back around
35:51Easy, big girl
35:57Yes, you got her, nice
36:04All right, guys, we're soon as a wrap, you guys can come on up
36:12Let's get close guys, we have everything we came for
36:18All right, make it shut down this fear, so we can get our order safely, shut it down, shut it down
36:24Night, guys, country
36:29One of the biggest dinosaurs you've ever seen
36:33Let's help, because it's not like we're looking for
36:36Oh man, let me help you
36:42Holy smokes, what was that, dude?
36:46That was crazy
36:48That was so intense
36:49That may well be the Jabbway of lore
36:51That's a Jabbway size
36:52That could be Jabbway size
36:54That was for sure the biggest tiger shark we've tagged yet on this expedition
36:57I'm excited to get some analysis on this and see what's really going on with this population of tigers
37:02No, I can't wait
37:03Sample on ice and some rum
37:05Exactly, let's have a glass of rum
37:07Sounds good
37:07It was crazy, one of the most wild shark dives I've ever had
37:12Great sharks, give me a great pack
37:15They're so easy
37:16Lots of energy, and then these big, beautiful tigers
37:20Volcanic activity definitely brings out the big shark
37:25We don't know if this was the Jabbway
37:27But that was one of the biggest tiger sharks I've ever seen
37:29We feel really good about this mission
37:32We were able to get a lot of genetic material from different tiger sharks
37:35Around the Saba Bank and Saba Island itself
37:37We're going to send that material off to the lab
37:40And I cannot wait to see what kind of information we get back
37:43Hey guys, how's it going?
37:51Hey, awesome, how are you guys?
37:53Good, good, good to see everyone again
37:54Todd, I'm really looking forward to seeing what you got for us
37:58Dude, it's wild, take a look at this
38:01We compared the DNA samples to the DNA sample that we have on file
38:06Of our shark that is responsible for the attacks
38:09And unfortunately, there was no match, guys, I'm sorry
38:13Okay
38:14But I did find something quite cool, check this out
38:17So this is actually the third time that we caught and tagged the same exact shark
38:22Oh, wow
38:24So we tagged her for the first time in 2021
38:27Then we tagged her again in 2023
38:29And then the last time we tagged her is when we were together on the Saba Bank this year
38:33Wow, okay, so that means those sharks, they're not just passing through, they actually live there
38:38Exactly, it's their home
38:40So this really does give some credence to the legend of Jabwe
38:45Definitely, these fishermen are more than likely seeing the same sharks over and over again
38:50Because they actually do reside along that section of the Saba Bank that we call the Devil's Ridge
38:55Wow, look, I've done a lot of expeditions
38:57Sometimes you don't get exactly what you're looking for
39:00Yeah
39:00But this still tells us a lot about this resident population of tiger sharks
39:05I really think that this is only the beginning
39:07Austin's team never found the killer
39:10Or if it's Jabwe
39:13But what they did learn was something chilling
39:16There's a gang of tiger sharks
