Kanpur, UP – Tension erupted at Kanpur Central Railway Station on Tuesday when a scuffle between a Train Ticket Examiner (TTE) and a group of passengers turned violent. The incident was caught on camera and has gone viral on social media.
According to reports, 15–20 youths travelling on a special train from Surat to Muzaffarpur allegedly barged into the ladies’ coach. When the TTE intervened, a heated argument broke out. Matters escalated when the TTE dragged one of the youths off the train and began beating him on the platform.
Seeing this, fellow passengers tried to stop the TTE. When he didn’t relent, they retaliated and assaulted the TTE. In one video, the TTE is seen slapping a man whose shirt is torn. In another, angry men pin the TTE to the ground and pull his hair.
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) later arrived and detained one passenger, Raja Yadav. No action has been taken so far against the TTEs involved.
