00:00Many times in life, we compare ourselves to others.
00:03We ask, why can't I be like them?
00:06This comparison often makes us feel unhappy.
00:09In today's fast-paced world, with apps like TikTok and Instagram,
00:14this habit has become even more common.
00:16So this story is for those who feel unsatisfied with their lives
00:20and think others are happier than them.
00:23While listening to this story, we'll also learn some new words.
00:28So, listen to the story carefully until the end.
00:32One day, a crow was flying and landed on a tree branch.
00:36While sitting there, he saw a swan swimming in a pond nearby.
00:41The swan had bright white feathers, and some villagers came to admire its beauty.
00:47The crow became curious and flew closer to the swan.
00:51But as soon as the villagers saw the crow, they waved their hands to chase him away.
00:55The crow thought, maybe they're afraid I'll make the place dirty.
01:02Feeling sad, the crow sat on another branch.
01:06But again, the villagers didn't want him around and drove him away.
01:10The crow felt hurt.
01:12He saw how people loved the swan for its beautiful feathers, but no one liked him.
01:17With a heavy heart, the crow left the village and flew deep into a forest.
01:22Sitting on a tree branch, he started crying.
01:26He said to himself,
01:27People hate me because of my black feathers.
01:30If only I had white feathers like the swan, I would be happy too.
01:35An old crow passing by saw him crying and asked,
01:39Why are you so sad, young one?
01:42The crow replied,
01:44I hate my black feathers.
01:46They look so ugly.
01:47Nobody likes me.
01:48The old crow smiled and said,
01:52If you could look like any bird, which one would you choose?
01:56The crow quickly said,
01:58I want to look like the swan.
02:01Everyone admires it.
02:03The old crow said,
02:05There's a magical spring deep in the forest.
02:08If you bathe in its water with a pure heart, you can change how you look.
02:13But before that, why don't you ask the swan if it is truly happy?
02:18The crow agreed and flew back to the pond.
02:22The crow went to the swan and asked,
02:25Dear swan, you must be the happiest bird in the village.
02:29Your white feathers are so beautiful and everyone loves you.
02:32Are you happy?
02:34The swan looked down and said,
02:36Thank you for your kind words.
02:39My feathers may be beautiful, but I am not happy.
02:43People keep me as a pet, and I cannot live freely.
02:47When I grow old, they might even use me for my meat.
02:50I don't know if I'll still be alive tomorrow.
02:53The crow was shocked.
02:55Then, who do you think is the happiest bird?
02:59The swan replied,
03:00I think parrots are the happiest.
03:04Their colorful feathers are more beautiful than my white ones,
03:07and people don't eat them.
03:09The crow thanked the swan and flew off to find a parrot.
03:13After searching for some time, he found one sitting on a branch.
03:17The crow said,
03:18Dear parrot, your colorful feathers are so lovely.
03:22You must be the happiest bird.
03:24The parrot sighed and said,
03:26My feathers are pretty, but because of them, people put me in cages.
03:32I spend my life locked up, and I'm always scared.
03:37The crow felt even sadder.
03:40He asked,
03:41Who do you think is the happiest bird?
03:44The parrot replied,
03:46The peacock must be the happiest bird.
03:49People admire its beautiful feathers, and they give it a big cage to live in.
03:53The crow flew to a zoo to meet a peacock.
03:57He saw the peacock spreading its colorful feathers while many visitors admired it.
04:02The crow said,
04:04Dear peacock, you are so beautiful.
04:07Your feathers are amazing.
04:09You must be the happiest bird in the world.
04:12The peacock looked at the crow and said,
04:15No, my friend.
04:17I am not happy.
04:19People take my feathers and sell them.
04:21It is painful when they pluck them.
04:23And it keeps happening again and again.
04:26I wish I could live freely like you.
04:29No one bothers you.
04:31And you can go wherever you want.
04:33Hearing this, the crow was surprised.
04:36He realized he had been taking his freedom for granted.
04:39The crow thanked the peacock and flew back to the old crow.
04:43He said,
04:44I don't want to be anyone else.
04:46I am happy to be a crow now.
