The Beatles hvide dobbeltalbum fylder 40 i dag.

00:04:44Thank you!
00:04:46Meanwhile, back here in the EEC, it's time for me, Ray Kochs, to say hello, good evening, and welcome to Horson's and the Whites concert!
00:05:00Well, you look, you look absolutely fantastic. We said to come in white and you've come in white. We could be at a church. We could be at a meeting of the Ku Klux Klan. But we don't want to think about that.
00:05:26This is a live TV event, ladies and gentlemen, going out live all across Denmark. So let's say hello to the people at home. Firstly, if the VIP area would like to say hello to the people at home, VIPs?
00:05:40Make some noise! Okay. And if the real people on the sides would like to say hello to the people at home...
00:05:52And let's not forget them, the really poor people at the back. Would they like to say hello to the people at home? We can't hear you anyway.
00:06:14Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to this unique occasion. And thank you for being here tonight.
00:06:21So, 40 years ago, on this very day in 1968, the biggest band in the world at the time, The Beatles, released their ninth record.
00:06:32A double album actually entitled The Beatles, but better known as The White Album. It was their most ambitious work ever.
00:06:40It remains their biggest selling album, and it is still considered today as one of the most important albums of all time.
00:06:47So tonight, we remember the band, revisit the times, and most importantly, recreate the 30 songs that make up The White Album.
00:06:56Artists from Denmark, Sweden, the Faroe Islands, Greenland, USA, and Norway will be on stage tonight to perform their versions of these classic tunes.
00:07:09So, are we ready to go? Yes, we are. Right.
00:07:17The best seat in the house is the one you have at home, so sit back and enjoy two hours of fabulous Beatles music.
00:07:27Time now for side one, track two.
00:07:30Please welcome, from Denmark, Iran Didi, with Dear Prudence, a song about a lady the Beatles met whilst meditating in India.
00:07:40Iran Didi.
00:07:42Dear Prudence,
00:08:07Dear Prudence,
00:08:13Won't you come out and play?

00:15:10For 40 år siden rører det første hvide album over disken.
00:16:40Well, as you've just seen, 1968, a very important year for rock'n'roll.
00:17:01The beginning, of course, of those protests for rioting students.
00:17:05The end of the honeymoon for the love generation.
00:17:08And some say, the beginning of the end for the Beatles.
00:17:12But more about that later.
00:17:14At the time, the world's youth were looking to the Beatles for spiritual, political and strategic advice.
00:17:22Many believed that the band had left cryptic messages on each album.
00:17:26Some in the lyrics, some only revealed when the record was played backwards.
00:17:31If you're young, you used to be able to turn the vinyl backwards, you see.
00:17:36Don't try it with a CD.
00:17:38Nothing will happen.
00:17:39I didn't forget it with an MP3.
00:17:42Meanwhile, back to the program.
00:17:45The song you just heard, Glass Onion, performed by Norwegian star Rita Eriksson, ladies and gentlemen.
00:17:51So it was John Lennon's playful, thank you for Rita.
00:17:54It was John Lennon's playful response to those obsessed fans.
00:18:04Now, the diversity of the White Album is probably already apparent to you.
00:18:09And it becomes even more so with this next song.
00:18:12Don't be afraid to join in here.
00:18:15And, of course, at home, because no one can see you making a fool of yourself.
00:18:18With her rendition of Oh Bloody, Oh Bloody, please welcome a lovely girl with the sun in her eyes.
00:18:27She's from Greenland.
00:18:28She is Julie Bertelsen.
00:18:30Desmond says to Molly, girl, I like your face.
00:18:41And Molly says this as she takes him by the hand.
00:18:46Oh Bloody, oh That's how the light goes on.
00:19:06Oh Bloody, oh Bloody, oh That's how the light goes on.

00:45:18I'll give you everything I got
00:45:19For a little peace of mind
00:45:21We'll see you guys
00:45:22It's doing me harm, you know I can't sleep
00:45:25A kiss to my brain, you know it's three weeks
00:45:28I'm doing insane
00:45:30I'll give you everything I've got for a little piece of mine
00:45:34I'll give you everything I've got for a little piece of mine
00:45:41I'll give you everything I've got for a little piece of mine
00:45:52I'll give you everything I've got for a little piece of mine
00:46:30Love In, Flower Power og All You Need Is Love
00:47:55Well, they say, if you remember the 60s, you weren't there
00:48:13Fortunately for us, the memories live on in the songs
00:48:17And for our next two performers, one of these songs on the White Album
00:48:22Changed their lives forever
00:48:24In fact, it was the very first song they ever sang together
00:48:29To see if the chemistry would work
00:48:31It did, and tonight they're here to relive that moment just for you
00:48:36It's with great pleasure that I now present to you
00:48:39The one, the only, well, the two, the only
00:48:43Rookstead and Kreuzfeldt with Blackbird
00:48:46Blackbird singing in the dead of night
00:48:58Take these broken wings and learn to fly
00:49:02All your life
00:49:06You were only waiting for this moment to be free
00:49:22Blackbird flying, blackbird flying, blackbird flying
00:49:26Blackbird flying, blackbird flying, into the light of the dark black night
00:49:32Blackbird flying, into the light of the dark black night
00:49:45Blackbird flying, blackbird flying, into the light of the dark black night
00:50:03Blackbird flying, into the light of the dark black night
00:50:05Blackbird flying, into the light of the dark black night
00:50:10Blackbird flying, into the light of the dark black night
00:50:22Blackbird flying, into the light of the dark black night
00:50:25Blackbird sailing in the dead of night
00:50:28Take these broken wings and learn to fly
00:50:32Du fly, all your life
00:50:38You were only waiting for this moment to arise
00:50:43You were only waiting for this moment to arise
00:50:48You were only waiting for this moment to arise
00:51:02Have you seen the little piggies crawling in the dirt?
00:51:22And for all the little piggies life is getting worse
00:51:27Always having dirt to play around in
00:51:37Have you seen the bigger piggies in the starved white shirts?
00:51:42You will find the bigger piggies stirring up the dirt
00:51:47Always have clean shirts to play around in
00:51:57In their sights with overbacking
00:52:00They don't care what's all around
00:52:07In their eyes there's something lacking
00:52:10But they need some dangles working
00:52:13Everywhere there's lots of piggies living piggies
00:52:23Everywhere there's lots of piggies living piggie lives
00:52:39You can see them out for dinner with their piggie wives
00:52:44Launching forks and rides to eat their bacon
00:52:50One more time
00:53:01One more time
00:53:02One more time
00:53:07One more time
00:53:11One more time
00:53:28Sorry
00:53:30This was piggies of course
00:53:33Some social commentary from George Harrison
00:53:35And remade and reinvented by Danish opera singer Andrea Pellegrini
00:53:39Wasn't that fantastic?
00:53:41In these days of X Factor and pop stars shit
00:53:54Let's just say that
00:53:55It's nice to see some real talent up here tonight
00:53:58Of course
00:54:04Some of the young people down the front are going
00:54:07What's he talking about?
00:54:08Popeye, that's the real talent, X Factor
00:54:11Anyway, if you've just joined us
00:54:13Where have you been?
00:54:14This is the white concert
00:54:15Look at all these lovely people in Horsens enjoying themselves
00:54:19There's even some people at the back that have been saving up for a year to come here
00:54:31Hello
00:54:32Though you still love me, that's good
00:54:36I'll stop there
00:54:38Now the next song is a satirical cartoon
00:54:41Western sort of
00:54:42Written by Paul McCartney in the Far East
00:54:45And recorded sort of in the Far West when he got back to the Abbey Road Studios
00:54:50It was one long night drinking and smoking session
00:54:55It was fun
00:54:56Well, apparently I wasn't there
00:54:58But anyway, get ready for Rocky Raccoon
00:55:01Remade for 2008 by Swedish singer Daniel Lemmer
00:55:14Somewhere in the black mountain hills of Dakota
00:55:17Lived a young boy named Rocky Raccoon
00:55:20And one day his woman ran off with another guy
00:55:24Hit young Rocky in the eye
00:55:27Rocky didn't like that
00:55:29He said, hmm, I'm gonna get that boy
00:55:31So one day he walked into town
00:55:34Booked himself a room in the Raccoon Saloon
00:55:37Well now Rocky were cool
00:55:40He checked into the room
00:55:43Only to find Kitchen's Bible
00:55:48See Rocky had come equipped with a gun
00:56:07To shoot off the legs of his rival
00:56:12He called out
00:56:14Cause his rival it seemed
00:56:16Had stolen his dreams
00:56:19By taking away the girl
00:56:22Of his friends there
00:56:24The girl's name was McGill
00:56:28But she called herself Jill
00:56:31Still everybody knew her
00:56:34As an answer
00:56:36Now she and her man
00:56:52Who called himself Dan
00:56:55They were in the next room
00:56:58For the hoedown
00:57:00And then Rocky burst in
00:57:04He's just green in the green
00:57:06He said, Danny boy
00:57:09This is a showdown
00:57:11But Daniel was hot
00:57:15He drew first and shot
00:57:18And Rocky collapsed
00:57:21Down in the corner
00:57:23In the next room
00:57:34The doctor came in
00:57:48And basically
00:57:50The doctor came in, stinking of gin
00:57:54And proceeded to lie on a table
00:57:58He said, Rocky, you match your match
00:58:03Rock said, hey doc, it's only a scratch
00:58:06And I'll be better, I'll be better
00:58:09Just as soon as I'm able
00:58:11Well now Rocky Bakun
00:58:15He fell back in his room
00:58:17Only to find Gideon's Bible
00:58:22And Gideon set out
00:58:26But he left it, no doubt
00:58:29To help with good Rockies
00:58:32Red by five, four, eleven, five, four
00:58:47La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
00:59:17Hva, hva, hva, hva, hva, hva, hva.
00:59:47Hva, hva, hva, hva.
01:00:17Hva, hva, hva, hva, hva.
01:00:47Hva, hva, hva, hva, hva, hva.
01:01:17Hva, hva, hva, hva.
01:01:47Hva, hva, hva, hva.
01:01:49Hva, hva, hva, hva.
01:01:51Hva, hva, hva, hva, hva, hva.
01:01:53Hva, hva, hva, hva.

01:03:09Hvad er det?
01:03:39Lars Lielholt. Lars Lielholt, featuring Jane Clarke,
01:03:46with Don't Pass Me By, of course.
01:03:48Don't Pass Me By, the first of only two Beatles songs
01:03:53written and sung by Ringo Starr.
01:03:55Not everyone's favourite Beatle, was he, really?
01:04:00Anyone's favourite Beatle was Ringo Starr here tonight?
01:04:04Ooh! We do have a few.
01:04:07Let's see. Two people for Ringo.
01:04:09What about John Lennon?
01:04:11Paul McCartney?
01:04:14George Harrison?
01:04:16Okay, George Harrison and Paul McCartney.
01:04:19And Ringo, if you're watching, peace and love, peace and love.
01:04:23Okay?
01:04:23And don't send me any more, you know, messages.
01:04:26Peace and love, peace and love, Ringo.
01:04:27Now, whilst Ringo's drumming may or may not have inspired a generation,
01:04:35it certainly inspired a couple of people over there,
01:04:37it probably didn't inspire a generation of young people
01:04:40to sit at the back of the band and beat out the rhythm.
01:04:42What cannot be disputed is the immense impact on music and popular culture in general
01:04:48that the Beatles had and, of course, still have.
01:04:52Proof, if you need it, is tonight's White Concert.
01:04:55We have a mixture of established artists and exciting new talent.
01:05:00Each and every one of them jumped at the chance to come and perform a Beatles song tonight.
01:05:04You'll hear from two of Denmark's rising stars shortly,
01:05:08Annika O'Kair and Aura.
01:05:10There's a lot of musicians backstage saying,
01:05:21is it my time?
01:05:22I've no idea what he's saying.
01:05:25You'll see Annika and Aura soon,
01:05:29but before we hear them singing delightfully,
01:05:32let's look at them in deep discussion.
01:07:45Yeah, yeah
01:08:11Hvorfor er det?
01:08:41Hvad gør vi til at en ro?
01:08:49For at noen vil be watchen oss
01:08:53Så hvad gør vi til at en ro?
01:08:58Hvad gør vi til at en ro?
01:09:03Hvad gør vi til at en ro?
01:09:07Hvad gør vi til at en ro?
01:09:11Hvad gør vi til at en ro?
01:09:15Hvad gør vi til at en ro?
01:09:17Hvad gør vi til at en ro?
01:09:19For at noen vil be watchen oss
01:09:22Så hvad gør vi til at en ro?
01:09:41Hvad gør vi til at en ro?
01:09:43Hvad gør vi til at en ro?
01:09:45Hvad gør vi til at en ro?
01:09:47Hvad gør vi til at en ro?
01:09:49Hvad gør vi til at en ro?
01:09:51Hvad gør vi til at en ro?
01:09:53Hvad gør vi til at en ro?
01:09:55Hvad gør vi til at en ro?
01:09:57Hvad gør vi til at en ro?
01:09:59Hvad gør vi til at en ro?
01:10:01Hvad gør vi til at en ro?
01:10:03Hvad gør vi til at en ro?
01:10:05Hvad gør vi til at en ro?
01:10:07Hvad gør vi til at en ro?
01:10:09Hvad gør vi til at en ro?
01:10:11Hvad gør vi til at en ro?
01:10:13Hvad gør vi til at en ro?
01:10:15Hvad gør vi til at en ro?
01:10:17Hvad gør vi til at en ro?
01:10:19Hvad gør vi til at en ro?
01:10:21Hvad gør vi til at en ro?
01:10:23Hvad gør vi til at en ro?
01:10:25Hvad gør vi til at en ro?
01:10:27Hvad gør vi til at en ro?
01:10:29Hvad gør vi til at en ro?
01:10:31Hvad gør vi til at en ro?
01:10:33Hvad gør vi til at en ro?
01:10:35For if I ever saw you
01:10:40I did not catch a name
01:10:44But it never really mattered
01:10:49I will always feel the same
01:10:53Love you forever and forever
01:10:58Love you with all my heart
01:11:02Love you when never we're together
01:11:07Love you when we're apart
01:11:32When at last I find you
01:11:36Your song will fill the air
01:11:39Sing it loud so I can hear you
01:11:44Make it easy to be near you
01:11:48For the things you do and leave you to me
01:11:53Oh, you know I will
01:11:56You know I will
01:12:01You know I will
01:12:14And I will
01:12:44Magnificent Aura.
01:12:50I will.
01:12:53I will.
01:12:56I do.
01:13:00Marvelous.
01:13:01All right, everybody?
01:13:03Good, good, good, good.
01:13:04All right, at the back?
01:13:07You don't regret spending your savings?
01:13:11Fantastic.
01:13:12Right. That was I Will, of course.
01:13:14And before that, Annika, okay.
01:13:16And why don't we do it in the road?
01:13:18I don't know if anybody knows what that song's about.
01:13:21Because people are...
01:13:23We don't know if it's about doing it in the road, you know.
01:13:27But it, you know...
01:13:30When I won't do it, I might have a heart attack at my age.
01:13:33Or it could be doing the toilet in the road.
01:13:37I mean, we don't know what it means.
01:13:38It's one of life's mysteries.
01:13:40It really is.
01:13:41And isn't it nice that it stays like that?
01:13:45There's people in the audience going,
01:13:47What's he talking about?
01:13:48Show some more music.
01:13:50All right, well, both of those songs were written by Paul McCartney.
01:13:52Although, why don't we do it in the road?
01:13:54Sounds like a John Lennon song.
01:13:55It was, in fact, McCartney.
01:13:57And they are two completely different songs.
01:13:59And that's what makes the White Album very special,
01:14:01because it's got incredible contrast.
01:14:03Everything is different.
01:14:04The Beatles were experimenting,
01:14:06and they would never be the same again, as we know.
01:14:09In a time when albums were made of vinyl,
01:14:12that's black plastic.
01:14:15And we paid for it.
01:14:18We saved our money and queued up and bought records.
01:14:21And even better than that, kids,
01:14:29we used to put the needle on the record
01:14:31and listen to the album, all of the album.
01:14:34You know?
01:14:35In the order.
01:14:36And we didn't just buy one song off iTunes
01:14:38and then give it to all of our friends.
01:14:42You see? Music is to be valued.
01:14:44But anyway, I'm completely off script here,
01:14:46and no-one knows what I'm doing.
01:14:48Not even me.
01:14:49But, apparently,
01:14:51you are lovely people tonight.
01:14:53You are lovely.
01:14:58Is it time for me to go back to hospital yet?
01:15:01No? More? Okay.
01:15:04All right, then.
01:15:05This next song was the final track
01:15:07on side two of album one,
01:15:10which, of course, we'd been listening to
01:15:11in the order in its entirety
01:15:13on the Black Final.
01:15:14This is an intensely personal tune.
