00:00High in the mountains of Peru, above the ancient city of Costco, lies a mysterious stone fortress,
00:07built with stones so perfectly carved and placed, even a blade cannot fit between them.
00:12Welcome to Sacsayhuaman, one of the most fascinating archaeological wonders of the
00:18Inca Empire. In this video we will uncover the secret, history, architecture and unexplained
00:24mysteries of Sacsayhuaman. So stay with us till the end for some truly mind-blowing facts.
00:30Sacsayhuaman is an ancient Inca Citadel located just outside the city of Costco, Peru. It is one
00:37of the most impressive architectural feats of the Inca civilization. The site is famous for its
00:43massive stone walls. Some stones weighing over 100 tons fitted together without mortar and still
00:49standing strong after hundreds of years including earthquakes. The name Sacsayhuaman comes from
00:56the Quecha language. Sacsayhuaman means to be the satisfied and huaman means falcon. So the name
01:02can be translated as satisfied falcon. Sacsayhuaman is located at an altitude of about 3,700 meters above
01:11sea level, overlooking the historical city of Costco, which was once the capital of the Inca Empire.
01:18It's only about 2 kilometers from the city center, making it a popular tourist attraction and a key
01:24part of the sacred valley of the Incas. One of the most fascinating things about Sacsayhuaman
01:30is the precision stonework. The stones are cut in irregular shapes and fit together so perfectly
01:36that no modern tools could do it better. Some stones are so huge that experts still don't fully understand
01:43how the Incas move them without modern machines. The walls are built in zigzag patterns and some
01:50sections look like lightning bolts. These patterns not only look beautiful but also made the structure
01:56stronger during earthquake. That's why many parts of the Sacsayhuaman are still standing after centuries.
02:03The complex was built using three main types of stones. Limestones, andesides, or deorite. The larger
02:09stones can weigh more than 125 tons. Sacsayhuaman was built during the regime of the Inca Emperor.
02:17Pachacuiti in the 15th century. It served both military and ceremonial purposes. The site was
02:23believed to be a fortress, but it was also used for religious celebrations, such as Inti Rami, the festival
02:30of the sun. When the Spanish arrived in the 15th century, they were amazed by the site. Sadly,
02:36much of the smaller stones were taken by the Spanish to build houses in Costco, leaving only the massive
02:42base walls that are seen today. There are many unanswered questions about Sacsayhuaman. How did
02:49the Inca transport these massive stones without the wheel? What tools did they use to cut and shape the
02:55stones so precisely? Why was it built in a zigzag pattern? Was it for defense, design, or something?
03:03Some researchers believe extraterrestrials or lost advanced technology may have been involved,
03:10though most historians credit Inca ingenuity, intelligence, and manpower. The entire layout
03:16of the site is also believed to form the head of Puma, with Costco being shaped like the body.
03:23This shows the deep connection with the Inca's head with nature and animals. Sacsayhuaman is now
03:29known as a museum. It is not just a monument, it's a living symbol of Inca brilliance, Peruvian culture,
03:38and historical mystery. Every year on 24th June, the Inti Rami festival is re-enacted at Sacsayhuaman,
03:46celebrating the ancient Inca San Inti. Sacsayhuaman remains one of the greatest wonders of the ancient
03:53world with its mind-blowing construction, spiritual energy, and unexplained secrets.
