00:11just how does it feel when you're this close?
00:14Oh yeah, it's mad, I've not actually thought about that.
00:17Yeah, it's amazing.
00:18I mean, to make three consecutive finals for England
00:21is something that we can all be so proud of,
00:23the country can be proud of.
00:26Yeah, it feels amazing.
00:28We're all really looking forward to it already.
00:30As soon as one game finishes, we're already looking to the next.
00:35But yeah, for me, I'm really excited.
00:38I want to go out onto the pitch and give everything
00:40for England and for the team and for the fans watching.
00:44And yeah, hopefully we can put on a good performance.
00:47When England have done well at major tournaments previously,
00:49there's always been drama.
00:49But have you ever known anything like what you have been through
00:53over the last few weeks?
00:54It's mad, yeah.
00:55I mean, I'm not all for the drama,
00:56but we've definitely made it dramatic this tournament.
01:00And yeah, sometimes football's not always the way you want it to be.
01:03And it would be lovely to win in 90 minutes.
01:05But, you know, teams who are playing against have been really tough.
01:10And yeah, we've fought right until the very end,
01:12even when it's gone to penalties,
01:13even when it's gone 120 minutes.
01:15We've never given up.
01:16And yeah, we like to add that little bit of drama.
01:19I know that the fans at home,
01:20we've probably given them a heart attack and everyone in the stadium.
01:22But yeah, you can just,
01:24you can see the fight from the team that no matter what,
01:27we want to get the win, whatever game we play in.
01:29One of the most intriguing battles going into this game,
01:32I suppose, is the midfield, right?
01:33Because you've got Patry and Poteas and Balmati on one side,
01:37and then yourself and Georgia and Kira on the other.
01:39Is that a real indication of where the game could be won?
01:43Yeah, I mean, I think in football,
01:45sometimes games are won and lost in the midfield.
01:49We know that we have to be on our game.
01:51We have so much respect for all three of them players,
01:54world-class players, who, yeah, are very talented,
01:57and they are tough to play against,
01:59but we know what we're capable of.

02:04Since winning the Euros three years ago,
02:06we've seen how much, haven't we,
02:07that the game has grown in England,
02:09and the legacy has been massive as well.
02:11I just wonder, how does the pressure compare this time around,
02:16bearing in mind, of course,
02:16the hopes of a nation back home?
02:19Yeah, I mean, I think we have our own little bubble.
02:23And when we're on camp, we stay in that little bubble,
02:25and we don't know too much about what's going on at home.
02:29I think we don't have that pressure on ourselves.
02:31I think the only pressure that we have
02:33is the one that you put on yourself individually.
02:35We're all very competitive athletes
02:38who want to win and want to play well every single game,
02:41so the pressure is just the stuff that we put on ourselves.
02:44But when we came into this tournament,
02:46we said that we wanted to make the nation proud,
02:48and I think we've done that already.
02:49We've reached a final for the third time in a row,
02:52and that's something that we can hold our heads high,
02:55and we should be proud of.
02:56And we know that no matter what we do,
02:58we're always inspiring the next generation
03:00of young girls and boys starting out in their journey.
03:02So, yeah, no pressure from our side.
03:05We're definitely blocking that out,
03:07and we'll make sure that we prepare properly for the game on Sunday.
03:10And it certainly is a terrific achievement.

03:13Three years ago, of course, you and Alessia were perhaps the super subs.
03:17A different role for you both this time round,
03:19starting many of the matches.
03:22What's your reaction to a lot of people potentially calling
03:24Chloe Kelly and Michelle Adjumang the two new super subs?
03:28Oh, well, it's nice, yeah.
03:29I mean, it's nice for anyone to get on the pitch
03:31and make a real impact and a positive impact.
03:34And I know looking back at 2022,
03:36that was mine and Alessia's job to come on to the pitch
03:39and make an impact.
03:41And, yeah, that's what we managed to do.
03:42And this time round, our roles have changed,
03:44and we've made sure that we give 100% in the role
03:46that has been asked of us.
03:48And it's nice for us to, you know, do all the hard work
03:52and the girls to come on and get the goal
03:53and get it over the edge.
03:54Over the edge, but, you know, it's a squad game
03:57and you need everyone.
04:00And, yeah, we've had really positive impacts
04:02from players coming off the bench,
04:04but also the girls who have started the game
04:06have give absolutely everything
04:07and worked their socks off until they can't run anymore.
04:10So, yeah, I mean, we've got a very good squad
04:12and we've got players who can really come on
04:14and change games.
04:15So, yeah, it's exciting.

04:20Is there something as a squad that you're doing
04:23that gives you this fighting spirit to never give up,
04:26to have the resolve, to produce a comeback,
04:27something you say to each other in those moments of adversity?
04:31I think we've spoke about it quite a lot this camp,
04:34you know, proper English performance.
04:36I think we have it in us all individually
04:38and as a team that we want to fight,
04:41we want to, you know, not stop running.
04:44And you've seen that in games where sometimes
04:46you might feel like we're down and out
04:48and it's 90-odd minutes and then someone comes on
04:50and we have one moment and we take that moment.
04:54Yeah, and that's what it's all about.
04:56It's the squad depth.
04:57It's players having that belief
04:59that they can come on and really change the game.
05:02But, yeah, I think it's all in us individually
05:04that we're competitive and we want to win
05:06and we know what it takes to win in tournaments.
05:08And, yeah, that's what we managed to do
05:10and that's what's got us to a third consecutive final.
05:13And it's three consecutive finals with Serena.
05:15How have you seen her change over the years?
05:18How does she keep it fresh?
05:19How does she inspire you?
05:20Are there any sort of memories or moments,
05:22particularly in this camp,
05:22do you think that was something she said
05:24that was particularly inspirational?
05:26I mean, I think we've nearly killed her twice this tournament.
05:30She said we've definitely aged her.
05:33But, no, you know,
05:35I think that's five consecutive tournaments
05:37for Serena being in a final
05:39and that's just unbelievable.
05:41We know we're in good hands.
05:42We know she's a manager who can take teams right to the final.
05:46And, yeah, I mean,
05:48she's done a few good speeches, to be fair, this camp.
05:50I'll give it to her.
05:51We've been talking about it.
05:53But, yeah, she's a great manager.
05:56She's someone who we all have a lot of belief in
05:58and, yeah, we know we're in good hands.
06:00And, you know, when we go out onto the pitch,
06:02we fight for each other,
06:03but we fight for her and the staff too
06:05and all the fans watching as well.

06:09unbelievable achievement for Serena

07:15Yeah, Leah's great.
07:16You know, she's someone who rallies the team up
07:22and gets everyone going, keeps everyone together.
07:25And even her performances, like, the way she plays,
07:29the way she, you know,
07:31the way she plays the game really leads by example.
07:34And you want to play for someone like that.
07:35You want your captain to really, you know,
07:38step up in games.
07:39And she definitely does that.
07:40And she takes us all with her as well.
07:42So, yeah, it would be amazing for Leah

07:52and one that you want to work hard for
07:54because you know that when she goes out onto that pitch,

08:08when you pull on that England jersey

08:12How proud are you of that?
08:14Yeah, just pride.
08:16Every time I get to pull the shirt on,

08:20It's something that I dreamed of
08:21when I was a little girl,
08:22to play for England
08:23and to go to major tournaments
08:25representing your country.
08:27It's, yeah, I think I still pinch myself now.

08:35And, you know, when you pull the shirt on,

09:59you struggle.

10:04And it's nice that I have Beth as well,

10:08going through the same thing.

11:27I felt much better
11:28being on the pitch.
11:30And I remember
11:30speaking to Les afterwards
11:31because she played
11:33the 120 against Sweden
11:34and then sat on the bench
11:35and watched the rest
11:37of the Italy game
11:37and she said
11:38it was horrendous.
11:39So yeah,
11:40I think we'd all definitely
11:41prefer to be on the pitch,
11:42but I prefer to also
11:43win in 90 minutes as well.
