00:27Well, you know, I've spoken about my changing impression of Presidente Trump.
00:37I accepted the mainstream media portrait of him as kind of a bombastic narcissist,
00:46who didn't read books, who was ignorant of most affairs, who was impulsive.
00:51And, you know, I've found somebody who's completely different than that,
00:57somebody who's extraordinarily empathetic, that he is, that he thinks about other people and the impacts.
01:05You know, I've spoken about the fact that every time he mentions the war in Ukraine,
01:10he mentions the casualties on both sides of the war.
01:13And whenever he talks about almost any issue of consequence,
01:19he talks about the impacts on human beings.
01:22So he cares about people.
01:24He's kind.
01:26In his personal relationships, he's been very, very kind to me, to my family, to my wife, to my children.
01:34And also, he's extraordinarily knowledgeable.
01:38And, you know, he's a student of history, right?
01:40He is a, yeah, he's a student of history.
01:42And, you know, anybody who saw his interview this week,
01:46where he went through the portraits in the Oval Office during the Cabinet meeting
01:51and talked a little bit about each president can show that, you know,
01:55can get a display of his curiosity and his knowledge.
01:59But he has encyclopedic knowledge about music, about sports,
02:03about UFC fighting and about boxing and about a lot of other issues.
02:11I was on an airplane with him at one point, and he was talking about the Mideast.
02:17And he put it, he asked for a piece of paper,
02:20and then he drew a map, a perfect map of the Mideast.
02:24He has a very good hand.
02:25And with all the nations and the troop strength in each nation.
02:31And that's something that I think does not fit into the, you know,
02:36the public narrative about President Trump.
02:39He's very thoughtful.
02:42He's strategic in his thinking.
02:45And, you know, a lot of what he does may seem impulsive,
02:48but if you look at the long-term good of our country,
02:52it's not good to have a trade deficit of $1.2 trillion a year.
02:59It's existential, and we can't continue.
03:02And the tariffs, maybe people would say,
03:06well, you should have done it over a longer period of time.
03:08But, you know, President Trump knows that he only has four years,
03:12and that most of the things that he accomplishes
03:15are going to be in his first year.
03:17And so he's acting very, very fast.
03:21And this is true on all of these issues.
03:23He feels an urgency.
03:25And he acts quickly, and he acts decisively,
03:28and he knows what he wants.
03:30And, you know, I respect that.
03:32I think he's looking at the long-term good of America,
03:36with very few politicians still.
03:38So, Secretary Kennedy, I know life must seem overwhelming,
03:41given the dynamics of politics and all of the horse trading,
03:46all of the pressures.
03:47But what keeps you grounded today in 2025?
03:50Is it still your faith, the outdoors?
03:52Is it your wife, Cheryl?
03:55Is it your six children, Bobby III, Kick, Connor,
03:58Kira, Finn, and Aiden?
04:00How would you, or all of them, I guess, and Kat as well?
04:05Yeah, it's all those things.
04:06I mean, I, you know, I try to live a balanced life.
04:09And I, you know, I try to be centered when I approach life.
04:15I do meditations every morning.
04:17I do exercise every day.
04:20And I try to make sure that I'm, you know,
04:25living in the higher vibrations,
04:28and that I have, you know,
04:30that I make decisions based upon what I think is the right thing to do,
04:37rather than what, you know, other people want me to do.
04:40Fantastic.
04:40Now to really wrap up the interview,
04:42your reflections on your relationship to God
04:44was one of the most well-posited and well-thought-out reflections
04:49I've ever seen.
04:50Would you mind, just for our Brazilian audience,
04:52and the Brazilian wider public, which is very much Catholic,
04:56your uncle, the 35th president,
04:58John F. Kennedy, he was the first Roman Catholic president.
05:02And as we know, his Roman Catholicism is so prevalent in Brazil.
05:05A quick mention about that.
05:08You know, I, because of my own struggle with addiction,
05:11I, the part of overcoming that struggle was developing,
05:19you know, what I would say is kind of a conscious contact with my God
05:24and trying not to live my life based upon, you know,
05:29addiction is about, is about self-obsession.
05:33And it's about being, living an ego-driven life.
05:35And in order to recover, you really have to make a transition
05:40and say, I'm going to live for some other purpose.
05:44And I'm going to, and the way that you do that
05:48is by trying to stay in a posture of surrender,
05:51of, of constantly saying, am I doing the thing
05:55that God wants me to do right now?
05:58And if you're not, then having the discipline
06:00to change what you're doing.
06:01And if you are, then trying to be content within yourself
06:05and trying to be grateful,
06:09I try to maintain that, that, um,
06:12a posture of surrender.
06:15You know, when, um, I think most of us
06:19think about God when we're in a lot of trouble
06:22and, you know, it's like a foxhole prayer.
06:26And addiction put me into that kind of trouble
06:29so that, you know, I was willing to say,
06:32okay, the way that I'm living my life is not working.
06:35I need to let somebody else run my life.
06:39But then, you know, when my life,
06:41when your life starts to get better
06:43and the cash and prizes start flowing in,
06:47I think all of us have the inclination to say,
06:50thank you, God, I got it from here.
06:51And then take the wheel of the car
06:53and drive it off a cliff again.
06:54And the big challenge is staying in that posture of surrender
06:59even when everything's going well
07:01and connecting into that higher power
07:04and letting providence steer your life
07:08rather than ego.
