00:00Hi, my name is Mike Knapp, I'm an art director at Blue Sky Studios, and today I'm going to
00:28show you how to draw Scratte. So for Scratte, I like to start with an S curve to get some idea of how she's
00:39going to be posed. So I put a circle up at the top of the S for her chest, and a circle down at the
00:47bottom of the S to mass in her lower body where her legs connect, and then I'll connect them down
00:55through her midsection, and then let's get her looking over her shoulder back at us. So make kind
01:00of a curved line to sort of block in her jaw and her snout. A little smile at the end. She's got these
01:07furry tufts that help create the shape of her cheek, and then connect her head to her shoulders here,
01:14and then her eyes go right on top of her head. A little space in between them for her larger brain
01:20than Scratte has. She's a lot smarter. She's probably holding the acorns, and she's always taking it
01:26away from Scratte. She's got really skinny arms. Bring her arm over and have her hold on to that
01:32acorn. She's got teeth, very much like Scratte. Triangular nostril. There's her leg, there's her body, and then her
01:40tail also has another big S curve. Nice, sort of flattened, really fluffy tail. It's flatter than Scratte.
01:49Let's give her a foot real quick, and she's going to need ears. She's got a little round, little round ears, and then big thick eyelashes.
01:59And she's looking back at us because she's happy that she's got her acorn. One thing she has, Scratte has stripes on his tail.
02:06She has two stripes. We go all the way down her back, down to the tail, and then go all the way up the sides of the tail.
02:15Clean up these lines real fast, and we have Scratte.
