00:00If you are struggling to win jobs on freelance platforms, you are not alone.
00:04I have been there too.
00:06In fact, I made so many mistakes in the start on Fiverr that I thought I was wasting my
00:11time.
00:12Most people don't know this but it actually took me two months to land my first order
00:16on Fiverr.
00:17I just saw my friend working on Fiverr and created a profile and waited but nothing happened.
00:22For those of you who are new here, I am a top rated Fiverr seller and have been freelancing
00:25on Fiverr for 4 years now and in that time, I have made over $200,000.
00:30And I am here to tell you this, with right strategies, patience and hard work, you can make a lot
00:35of money on freelance platforms.
00:37And I will be very honest, I am not the smartest person out there but I am willing to do things
00:41that other freelancers are not.
00:43You may not be able to control how naturally talented or smart you are but you can always
00:47control how hard you work.
00:49And here's the truth, people like you and me can't skip the hard work and expect success
00:53to be handed to us.
00:55Every self-made freelancer has paid their dues and you will too.
00:58I have been freelancing for a long time now and today I wake up with 5-10 new clients without
01:04doing anything.
01:05It has been almost 1 year since I manually searched for a client.
01:08And not just me, my team of 10 editors is always booked.
01:12And you might ask how is that possible?
01:14Because my freelance profile ranks on the first page of Fiverr.
01:18And in this video, I'll tell you 7 tips so that you can achieve the same.
01:22Tip 1 is that don't enter the market without a strong skillset.
01:25A big mistake new freelancers make is that jumping into the market without knowing a
01:31good skill.
01:32If you are not good at what you are offering, you will struggle to deliver good work and
01:35that will hurt your reputation even before you get started.
01:39Imagine landing a project and then you are not able to solve the client's problem.
01:42That can result to a bad review and a negative review in freelancing can completely destroy
01:47your career in the beginning.
01:49Even if you are lucky enough to get another client after that, they will see the negative
01:52review and prefer to work with someone else.
01:54But the good news is that this right now is the best time to learn any skill and to master
02:00it.
02:01There are tons of free and paid resources that you can use to master a skill.
02:05Whether it's on YouTube, Udemy, Skillshare or Coursera.
02:08So spend time mastering a craft that will create a good base for you.
02:12And after that you can go and sell your services.
02:15This is a major problem that I see with a lot of freelancers.
02:18People send me their profile and tell me why they are not getting clients.
02:21But the main problem with 90% of those profiles is that they are not ready for the market.
02:26They are not offering anything valuable.
02:28Anyone can do basic things these days.
02:30But if you want to make real money, you have to be a master at what you do.
02:35That would mean spending 1-2 years on just perfecting a skill.
02:39Tip 2 is to get inspiration from high earning successful freelancers.
02:43One of the quickest way to learn is by studying successful freelancers and all this information
02:48is public.
02:49All you have to do is go to freelance platform of your choice and then filter the results by
02:53top rated seller.
02:55These are the people who have been delivering top level work for a very long time.
02:59They work with high paying clients from all around the world and have maintained their
03:03reputation for few years.
03:05Look at their profiles, pricing and how they describe their services.
03:09Pay close attention to their gig images, description and how they interact with clients through reviews.
03:15You don't have to reinvent the wheel, just take inspiration and make it better.
03:19These top freelancers have figured out what works.
03:22So you can just use their strategies to speed up your own success.
03:25At the end of the day, these top freelancers and you are selling the service on the same
03:30platform.
03:31So why should clients choose you instead of them?
03:33These top freelancers are your competition.
03:35So the goal is to make your profile same or better than them.
03:39Tip 3 is to create a profile that you would hire.
03:42I tell this to all the people who send me their profile for review.
03:45If you go on freelance platform, if you search for same keyword and your profile shows up,
03:50would you do business with yourself?
03:52And 95% of those people say no.
03:54So why would anyone else in the world work with you?
03:57Think of your freelance profile as a physical store in the market.
04:00If it doesn't look professional, clients won't do business with you.
04:03Would you buy from a store which looks messy and unreliable?
04:06The answer is no.
04:07You would of course look for more options.
04:09The same logic applies to your profile.
04:11To change this, add testimonials to your profile.
04:14If you don't have any paid clients, don't worry.
04:16You can still build credibility.
04:18In the starting, offer your services for free to friends, family or local businesses around
04:23you and in return get their testimonials.
04:25This might be a small thing, but usually the profile picture is the first thing that clients
04:29see and it makes your first impression.
04:32Make sure it's professional, clear and friendly.
04:34Next, write a bio that focuses on how you help clients.
04:37And remember when you write your bio, it's not about you.
04:41It's about the client.
04:42It's about how you can help your client, don't just keep talking about yourself.
04:46So instead of saying, I have five years of experience in graphic design, you can say
04:49something like, I help businesses create eye-catching designs that boost sales and brand recognition.
04:55The goal of your bio is to help client understand how your skills can directly benefit them.
05:00We are trying to represent ourselves in the best light and the best way to do that is by
05:05representing yourself as a professional business.
05:08So treat your profile like the business it is.
05:10Tip four is to improve your profile's SEO.
05:13SEO stands for search engine optimization and different platforms have different algorithms.
05:19But the main thing is that if your profile is not showing up in the search, clients won't
05:24be able to find you.
05:25It's as simple as that.
05:27Freelance platforms work like search engines.
05:29They show profile based on keywords and activity.
05:32So for example, if you regularly update your gigs with high volume keyword, the platform will
05:37push it ahead.
05:38And after that, if clients click on it and then do business with you, there's a good data
05:42point for the algorithm to show it to more people.
05:45And after that, if they do repeat business with you, that means if you completed one project
05:50for the client and they come back for more, that's a really good signal for the algorithm
05:54to show it to more people.
05:55On the other hand, if you go inactive for weeks, don't update your profile every now and then,
06:00don't have good buyer satisfaction.
06:02You leave your clients, don't reply to their messages.
06:05Your clients don't come back and work with you again.
06:07Then that's a good signal for the algorithm to not show your services to other people.
06:12At the end of the day, freelance platforms want to show the services of people who have
06:16good return buyer rate.
06:17So in simple language, the more buyers you're able to convert and retain, the higher you
06:22will rank.
06:23So first use relevant keywords after that, use high quality pictures and images so that
06:28after your profile is shown to people, they click on it.
06:31After that, here comes your portfolio and description, which will do the work of assuring people that
06:36you can deliver quality work, then they'll convert into a client.
06:40After that is all about what kind of experience you're delivering to people.
06:43And then if you deliver good clients, they'll come and work again with you.
06:46So stay active and update your profile every now and then to see what's going on in your
06:51industry.
06:52Tip 5 is that it's not about you, it's about the client.
06:55A lot of freelancers make this mistake of turning their profile just about themselves in a list
07:00of their own achievements.
07:01But here's the thing, clients don't really care about all that.
07:05They just want to know if your skill can really benefit them.
07:08So when you write a proposal, it should really be about the client.
07:12And here's how you can do it.
07:13First start by addressing the client by their name.
07:16It's a small thing but helps create a connection and shows you're not sending a generic message.
07:20Second, mention their project specifically.
07:23This shows you have taken the time to understand what they need instead of just sending a copy
07:27paste proposal.
07:28Once you talk about their project, after that you can give a short introduction of who you
07:32are and why they should work with you.
07:34And last, end with a call to action and clear steps of what clients should do.
07:39The key is to show them how you can solve the problem and not just talk about how great
07:43you are.
07:44When you focus on what they need, you'll have a much better chance of landing the job.
07:47Tip 6 is that stand out with a USP.
07:50USP stands for unique selling proposition.
07:53You need to ask yourself what sets you apart from other freelancers.
07:56There are thousands of other profiles on the same platforms delivering the same services.
08:02What really sets you apart?
08:03Why should clients select you instead of someone else?
08:06You should have a very clear answer for that.
08:09When I started, my USP was that I was providing unlimited revisions.
08:13I was delivering the work in 24 hours and my price was fairly low.
08:17It was around $5 per project.
08:19So when you're doing all this and I used to tell the clients when they used to message
08:23about my services that I'll be happy to work till they are very satisfied with the output.
08:28And just in case if they're not satisfied, I'll provide a refund.
08:31But this is something I did just initially the first one year and it worked out really well.
08:36This approach showed the clients that I was committed to delivering quality work and would
08:40go the extra mile to meet their need.
08:42Now think about what you could do.
08:43What is something that you can do to make you stand out in this market?
08:47It could be fast delivery.
08:48It could be doing extra for the client, going above and beyond.
08:52For someone who is confused and don't know what is their USP, you can start with delivering
08:57good quality work and doing it in 24 to 48 hours.
09:00If this is something you can do, you can clearly and easily stand out in the market right now.
09:05Because people value their time more.
09:07And if you're someone who can deliver quality work, you can also deliver a lot of revisions,
09:11you're ready to work till they're satisfied with the work and you can also complete the
09:15work faster, then you can definitely stand out in today's market.
09:18And last, tip 7 is to stay active and keep improving.
09:22A lot of freelancers make this mistake of creating a profile and then just forgetting about it.
09:27Think about it, if I just left Fiverr after two months of not getting an order, I would've
09:31missed on almost $200,000.
09:34A good freelance profile can really change your life and it won't come easy.
09:40You would have to put in the effort.
09:41You would have to update it daily or in few weeks and months to see how many gigs or impressions
09:47you're getting, how many clicks you're getting and what you could improve after seeing the
09:52market.
09:53If you, once you get it right, a good freelance profile can be a money making machine and
09:57you don't even have to work on it.
09:59You can hire other people who can help you out with the projects.
10:02You can just do the management work.
10:04I know a lot of agency owners in India who are not doing the actual work, they are making
10:09lakhs and lakhs of rupees by just managing a freelance profile.
10:13And once you set it up right, you don't have to worry about sales, marketing or literally
10:17anything.
10:18The freelance platform will do all the work for you, you'll have 5-10 new clients who
10:23are ready to work with you.
10:24So think of your freelance profile like a plant.
10:26It needs consistent care to keep growing.
10:29And don't just think in few days or weeks, think in months and years.
10:33Think about how you can improve so it will give you good results in the next few months.
10:38Don't just think about I'll just get a client tomorrow, I'll just get an order tomorrow
10:42or this week.
10:43Think in long term.
10:45The more effort you put into optimizing your profile and making it better, the more results
10:49you'll see in the future.
10:51So keep learning, keep researching and keep updating your profile.
10:55Along with that, your freelance profile or your freelance business is directly connected
10:59of how much knowledge you have.
11:01So make sure you spend time learning something new, seeing new trends, reading a lot of books,
11:06watching a lot of podcasts.
11:08All this will help you scale your freelance business.
11:11Freelancing truly changed my life and I've had the privilege to help hundreds of people
11:15start their freelance career too.
11:17And I know you can do this too.
11:19So make sure you apply these 7 tips and I'm very sure you'll start seeing results very
11:24soon.
11:25Make sure you like and subscribe and I'll see you in the next video.
