Yoshida Miyako was a Ballet superstar - the first Japanese ballerina to be made a Principal at The Royal Ballet. More than two decades on from her final curtain call in Covent Garden, she's returned to her old London stomping ground - not as a dancer, but as the director. The National Ballet of Japan becomes the first Asian dance company to perform on the main stage of the Royal Opera House in over 15 years.  Report by Gluszczykm. 00:00Because Royal Opera House is such a special theatre for the ballet world and of course

00:06I used to be working here for a long, long time and I wanted our dancer to be on that

00:12special stage.

00:14I was so happy to be on that stage with the Royal Ballet, it was such a special time but

00:22sometimes I was under so much pressure that I couldn't fully enjoy being on that stage.

00:28I just want our dancers to experience the same thing as me because I have learnt from

00:38so many things being on that stage so I'm sure that our dancers will feel something special

00:47being on that stage and dance in front of this London audience because they are wonderful.

00:55They react naturally because normally we dance in front of very quiet Japanese audience and

01:02London audience is always there to enjoy the show which is really nice.
