The Mont Ventoux Biosphere Reserve is one of 16 biosphere reserves in France. What makes them unique? They combine different activity zones: a transition area that includes economic activities and villages, a buffer zone dedicated to traditional practices such as fishing and pastoralism, and a core zone focused on biodiversity protection.

00:00In France, 16 reserves of biosphere work for the balance between the human and nature.
00:18These unique territories are real models of coexistence and preservation.
00:23We are in the reserve of biosphere in Vaucluse, in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur.
00:29The reserve of biosphere is a label attributed to the UNESCO,
00:34and the Mont Ventoux, the owner of Provence, benefits since 1990.
00:37The speciality of the biosphere is to be divided into three areas.
00:40There are the transition zones, where we support economic activities,
00:44where we will find villages and agriculture.
00:46We also have the Mont Ventoux, which is the temporary zone,
00:50where we will have traditional activities such as forestry, pastoralism or hunting.
00:54And finally, we have the hot spots of biodiversity,
00:57the protection zones, where we will try to have a final follow-up,
01:00a fine management of ecosystems.
01:04In terms of biodiversity, we have the chance to see an evolution
01:08rather favorable,
01:09thanks to policies of preservation and protection of certain spaces.
01:13We have, for example, the return recently
01:15of Vautour-Fauve in the Gorges-de-la-Nesque,
01:17since he found the appropriate conditions of his development
01:20in terms of nidification, in terms of reproduction.
01:27One of the major value of the biosphere or the Mont Ventoux,
01:30is to try to meet people.
01:32Because everyone likes Ventoux,
01:34everyone wants to protect it, etc.
01:36But everyone doesn't know how to take it and how to do it.
01:38and how to do it.
01:39And we, our goal is to try to gather these people,
01:42try to find common solutions
01:44to do more and better together.
01:45and continue ensemble.
